I have to show love to this restaurant! It was Saturday night and one of the only restaurants open in this small town, so of course it's busy and you need to be EXTRA PATIENT and just enjoy yourself and your company while you wait (which was only like 25 minutes for us). But apparently, that's hard for some people (like poor Lou in this comment section with 13 PEOPLE - like maybe go have a cookout at someone's house with a fat group like that on a Saturday in a small town?!!). Point being, any restaurant could struggle with that size of groups under those conditions. Anyway, this place made the BEST BLT I've ever had. It's melt in your mouth pork belly, fresh heirloom tomatoes, lettuce, aioli, golden brown bread...just a perfect chefs kiss. It was like smoked soul food. Also, my husband loved his burger with prime rib slices on top. They sure know how to do their meats! And our bar drinks were made deliciously. We aren't locals and we've lived in big cities. So believe me when I say, we really felt happy with the food, service and decor. The staff seems to work really hard and seem like good people - they deserve respect! going on 2hrs now and our order is still NOT out. Went across the street to get an ice cream, came back and finished the ice cream. We are a group of 13, 2 of our group sa to cancel their order and they left. I wanted to do the same but my wife is trying to keep me calm. DON'T waste your time with this place read more

Went here for dinner as it had a 4 star rating. Ordered a half carafe of supposed Bogle cabernet. Tasted okay but just plain hot. Not good. Ordered the 16 Oz. ribeye but the measurement scale must be off. More like 12 Oz. maximum. Ordered rare but no char whatsoever. Taste not bad but just meh. Added fettuccine wow white sauce was weird but tasted just okay. I think you could do a lot better somewhere else. read more

The server was really nice, and she is NOT reflected in the rating. The salmon was super dry with no flavor. The steak Hubs got was also charred. The steak fingers tasted like a commercial food service item cooked in OLD oil. Very, very disappointing. Would NOT RECOMMEND :( read more

Avoid unless you are dying of starvation. I was staying in town for work. I came in and sat at the bar. The servers ignored me. I asked for a menu and it took about 5 minutes before I was given one. It was literally thrown at me. If there was somewhere else to go, I would have. After about another 10 minutes, I asked for their service so I could order a drink and dinner. I finally get my order in and they bring out a raw burger and the wrong side, tots instead of onion rings. The tomato was very squishy and the lettuce was wilted. I took one bite and I was done. I waited another 10-15 minutes, even trying to get their attention, to get my check. I shouldn't have paid but I did. There was maybe 8 other people there at best and 2 bartender/ waitresses. read more

Best steakhouse in the area. Fast and friendly service. They used to make prime rib on the weekends, but the don't make it anymore. The steak sizes ranges are little buckaroo, cowgirl, and cowboy which about takes up the whole plate. I highly recommend eating here if you are in the Mackey/Arco area! They sell John's seasoning spice here too, which I keep as a staple in my pantry. read more

The overall vibe I got from Ken's Club is that it caters to locals. I totally get that there's value in serving that function, but I also didn't feel particularly welcome. The food was just okay; the prime rib tasted good but had some very rare bits in it, and the mashed potatoes were disappointing. read more

Arrived into Mackey later than I thought and Ken's club was the only restaurant open. I knew going into the restaurant one hour before close was risky but there were not too many options available in town. Upon entry, I was welcomed as if they were expecting me for hours. Ended up ordering the prime rib sandwich and by far, was one of top three in my life. The meat was perfect, fries were crispy, and the drinks were strong. It is rare to find such a gem like this in such a small town but I am so glad I stopped by. I do not pass by this town often but the next time, I will definitely pay Ken's a visit! read more

Went to Ken's Club some 28 years ago while in Mackay on work. Had the Prime Rib and have been judging every prime rib I have had since against what I remembered to be the best Prime Rib ever! Have been trying to find a reason and excuse to get back to Ken's every since. Finally got the chance this year as we are attending a family reunion in Challis. Timed our travel through Mackay specifically so we could stop and have Prime Rib at Kens. Have to admit that I was a bit nervous...wondering if my memory wasn't all that good or whether everything just came together all those years ago. Also heard that there had been an ownership change and likely some chef changes over the years so was bracing myself to be disappointed. Well...I can honestly say that tonight I had the best Prime Rib in 28 years. Clearly Ken's did not disappoint. Was fortunate enough to meet Chef Sherry and was able to compliment her and our waitress Jesse on a great job and wonderful meal (including the Caramelized Peaches with Ice Cream). An overall 5-rated experience for sure. Thank you Ken's and staff for helping me realize that sometimes "you can go back" and life is pretty good when you can enjoy some of the little treasures you find along the way. In my opinion, Ken's is one of those little treasures that probably not may folks will ever get to experience. And...to those reviewers that seem to want to complain about anything/everything...you need to remember that sometimes things move just a little slower in rural America. Folks don't always need to be in such a rush and if you just slow down a little and enjoy the experience, I'm guessing you will find more of life's little treasures as well. read more

We stopped overnight in Mackay to see the Mackay ghost town/mines (which are awesome). The Wagon Wheel RV/Inn recommended this place and they were right, it is very good. They serve a prime rib on weekends that is huge -- some cuts have the bone on them. The food was very good. The atmosphere is a small town restaurant with an attached bar. read more

Kens Club has great food and their service is great! Their food is like no other it is so good I could eat their all the time! If you get a chance you should go try it if you haven't! read more

Unfortunately, there are few places to get food in Mackay, and sadly this one can't handle crowds more than ten or twelve people without falling apart. I have given them multiple chances over the past several months and unless the place is dead empty, you're looking at 30-60+ minutes for your meal. On multiple occasions I have waited at the bar for more than 15 minutes without getting a drink order taken, much less being presented with a beer. I get it, there are not a lot of good sources for help out here in the sticks, but it doesn't even appear like they know there's a problem. read more

My new favorite steak house, hands down! I grew up in this area and have come back off and on for 25 years. I have always heard the food was great. We came last night and had prime rib and rib eye. It was so good we came back again tonight. I had the flat iron which was just as great. Awesome flavors, Great atmosphere. read more

The dinner experience was awful. The service was slow, the food was marginal at best, and it is very overpriced.

I'll be honest, I didn't expect a lot from Ken's Club. It was the only place open after fishing (I think there's only two restaurants in town anyway). I was absolutely blown away by the ribeye steak they prepared for me. It is easily in the top 3 or 4 steaks I've had in my life. Cooked exactly to medium rare, tender, and perfectly seasoned. Nice thick cut too. This same steak almost anywhere else costs $10 more. Their beer selection was also very good for being in a small town far away from just about everything. since kens had been under new ownership the experience has been terrible. the first time we ate there the chicken was so burnt my dog wouldn't eat it. the second time they were out of steak, chicken, finger steaks, milk amd potatoes. we just left. i honestly felt bad for the people working. read more

Stayed in MacKay for an atv adventure and tried Kens our second night. Staff was friendly and prompt. Salad was fresh and well made, however I was a little disappointed in the end cut prime rib. The last prime rib I had in Idaho was not far from Kens (less than 100 miiles) and I wondered if the beef came from the same supplier (range cattle). There was an overpowering sage/spice taste that personally detracts from a good cut of meat and for an end cut there was no bark. Overall the atmosphere was cozy and food was good (except the prime rib). read more
