Receptionist was horrible. Couldn't find my insurance carrier because she was looking at medical insurance, not vision insurance. Of course my insurance benefits were denied because she was looking at the incorrect paperwork. Asked for her to email me a copy of my denial form and she sends me copies of my medical insurance, had the nerve to act like it was my fault. We had a really frustrating experience at this eye doctor's office. The wait time was ridiculously long the rude "doctor" said it would be 30-45 minutes before she could help. Mind you only reason I was in was because the contact lenses were sent to the incorrect address. The doctor seemed rushed and in a terrible mood. The concerns we had about a prescription, were just brushed off. To make things worse, the staff at the front desk were not very helpful or friendly. I won't be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for quality care. read more

Not impressed with this eye care center. Optometrist was nice, other than that it has been a horrible experience. Communication is pitiful. I've heard multiple times "that isn't my job" when I've had to call to check on the status of eyeglasses that are now weeks late. The office didn't have the decency to call and let us know that the frames came in broke and needed to be reordered, thus a delay. Promised return calls that never happened. Told to just come in to talk to the Manager, no phone number given or specific time to meet and discuss my frustration. Please, if reading this review to decide where to go for eye care, take your business elsewhere. Update: I called and was told our glasses were ready. Went there and sat for 20 min to be told they weren't in. What a crock of crap. read more

WORST & most expensive & frames I ever had Screws or lenses keep falling out, 1st time was shortly after I got them, as I was boarding a plane to go overseas Had to grab parts incl tiny screw, quickly board plane, & do my own repairs. That happened more times. Upon return, they refused to replace defective frames. I am still having to repair them from time to time. read more

Whatever you do steer clear of this Eyecare business!!!! I received a huge bill almost a year after I was seen. I have insurance which completely covers my eye exams as well as my annual diabetic exams. They did not process my insurance and now a year later they want me to pay!!! The eye exam with Dr. Gillette was thorough and informative. She saw that my dad has cataracts which begun about 25 years ago according to the doctor. 5 years ago, he got an eye exam at Walmart and they did only some basic checkups to see what his prescription would be, so no thorough testing to even tell my dad that he had cataracts. So thanks Dr. Gillette! What is NOT great is that it would have costed me OVER $1,600 to get my dad 2 pairs of bifocal glasses there. And when I asked if there was a lower cost, it would have been about $1,500 for bifocal glasses that wouldn't even cover all of the glass area. But my dad is going to be a truck driver, so I didn't want to buy him the lower quality glasses. But here is the bad part - they made it seem like those were my only two options. They said that I could apply for credit to pay. Until I sighed and said, "We don't have to buy these glasses here. Will you give us the prescription?" And then they tried to sell us one pair of transitional glasses (darkens in the sunlight and clears up indoors) for $1,000. Still pretty high. So I said thank you and took the prescription to Warby Parker. At Warby Parker they told me that transitional glasses DO NOT darken up in the car because of the windshield, so having regular prescription sunglasses would be better for my dad when he drives a truck. 2 pairs of bifocal glasses for my dad at Warby Parker costed about $800. I would recommend them to please not try to fool me and not care about the lives of their customers. They knew that my dad needed sunglasses when he drives a truck, but the transitional glasses that they were selling would not have darken up in the car. And then to see how much I hesitated and how bad I felt because the cost was so much, they didn't care and tried to sell me expensive glasses anyways. It's fine to make money, but I don't think at the expense of your customers' quality of life. read more

OK well here we are again 7 months later and I get a whole new bill. $11.58 is now due or they will send me to collections. Why??? O well they charged me a $1 and change late fee from the $50 that my ins didn't pay. (And that I did pay) And you guessed it they are now going to send me to collections over additional late fee's on the $1 late fee from 7 months ago. Do yourself a favor don't go through this hassle. Go somewhere else. This place isn't customer based. I was new to the area they were in network and the reviews were OK back then. Boy if I could do it all over. I spent here for just 1 pair of glasses what I spent for my 3 kids at another place and they didn't hassle and threaten me. read more

I went to Dr. Brown on a recommendation. $400 later, I regret that decision. I went to him after I went to another eye doctor wasn't able to treat my conjunctivitis. After he examined me, he prescribed very expensive drops for the condition, and also said I had another condition that could only be treated with a custom pair of $700 contact lenses. I believed, and trusted him, instead of getting a second opinion. My portion of the bill after insurance was $265. I was only able to wear the contacts for four months, and have not been able to wear them since. When I went to have a visit with Dr. Brown about the contacts and a solution, they said I would have to have to see the other doctor that was there on Saturday. They never informed me that Dr. Brown would not be there. I paid $65 for that doctor to tell me I would have to see Dr. Brown for my problems, because he was familiar with them. When discussing a contact lens fitting with the staff, I said I really needed the exam by Dr. Brown to know if I could even wear contacts again. They said "before you get the exam, $240 must be paid up front." They are a total rip off. I just paid $80 with another doctor, and a $200 pair of contacts ... that don't bother me like the $700 pair. If you want to throw money away with unnecessary services, and inaccurate diagnosis ... go there. I would never go there again. They're not about the patient. They're all about getting as much money out of you as possible. read more

Way too expensive. They charge special lenses for kids that are $60 after you've already paid to have your eye exam. They totally get you to come in and take the exam before they rob you of all your cash. Not to mention the eye exam was $30. Would not go again. read more

I've never written a review but I do not want anyone to go through what I did. I called Mountain West Eye Care because my eyes were dilating incorrectly, my vision was blurry and my eyes were hurting me. I assumed it was some kind of issue with my contacts. When I came in the ladies at the front desk we're very nice and sweet to me. This review isn't regarding them. After I was taken back she was asking me what was going on and such so I told her. Then Dr. Brown came in. He asked me a series of question and took a look into my eyes. He didn't put dye in them or measure my pupils. He pulled out text book looking at other options. We didn't take any sort of test or blood work or anything that could prove what he was about to tell me. He told me chemically something could have gotten into my eyes to cause this. But then he proceeded to tell me it could be Syphilis or a Tumor. He was extremely judgmental saying "you know your life style more than i do." I am 18 YEARS OLD. Then he told me "don't lose any sleep over it, but I am going to get you into a Neurologist ASAP." I asked him if he would please call my mom and tell her all this because I was so confused. But he told me he would call her in the morning. Which he never did to explain what he had said to me. The ladies at the front desk were trying very hard to get me into an emergency appointment. When no one was available they recommend I went to the Eye Institute of Utah. I got a second opinion and the doctor there was very confused as to why Dr. Brown told me all those things. He put dye in my eye and saw immediately I had a scratch on it. I WAS TOLD I HAD A TUMOR OR SYPHILIS. Dr. Brown scared my entire family, and myself. read more

My wife went in for a new prescription. With our insurance she paid $10 for the exam and $25 for the lens and frame. She chose an anti-glare covering for which they charged $25. Our total was given of just over $97. When asked about the discrepancy the receptionist told us it was taxes on the lens and frame. ($27+ dollars in taxes?!?) If you need a new set of glasses, I suggest going somewhere that the business model seems a little less shady. read more

I purchased a pair of sunglasses only to find out my prescription won't work with he frame I picked. It took a week after the purchase and the sales person being told by someone else it wont work after she wanted me to pay more to send them to Oakley before I found out.
