The views and our overall experience at the cabin was exactly what we were hoping for so we will definitely be back! We were near plenty of places in a nearby town for meals and groceries and our goal was to complete the Old Rag hike and we were close enough to do it! :)

The privacy is on point. The hottub and the swing, perfect! We did some grocery shopping to make our meals on site. They also had a small grill. The washer and dryer in the cabin made a huge difference because we went hiking a couple times and it was hot out! The only thing that threw me for a loop was their small pond. It looked amazing in photos but in person it was a small pond with rocks and gravel. But everything else was wonderful! You can go offsite to see beautiful waterfalls etc. There is a community rec center across the street with a large pool. We stopped in to see it. Staff there was informative and friendly. So if you wanted to hop out of the Hawksbill gate and go across the street you can enjoy the pool!

This Kimpton on the campus of the University of Virginia is one of the happiest experiences I have had in the US. I actually wanted to stay longer. Friends, I never want to stay longer in a hotel. Kimptons are dog-friendly. I have my dogs with me and it was seamless and amazing. The lobby and bar and restaurants are just wonderful. The rooms are beautiful. The grounds are beautiful. The staff are kind, intelligent, pleasant, skilled. This is now my go to when stopping in Virginia.

We played horseshoes in the yard, ate s'mores, did some awesome hiking behind the house, which happens to be right on the edge of the national park (beware the nettles and getting lost), canoeing, the Luray Caverns, hiking in the national park, local dining, and we spent a ton of time in the hot-tub. I recommend all of it. Things to be aware of: the beds are not large, this place is secluded, and the driveway is a steep, gravel switchback.

It seemed that every time we thought about needing something, we were delighted to see it was provided. This included a wood stove - set up & ready with starter kindling & matches, a fire pit with a large stack of neatly split oak logs (we loved the fire under the stars with the sounds of the river below), a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of fluffy towels and comfy, soft linens. A raccoon theme added a fun touch, too. We quickly made ourselves at home and stayed warm & happy. Oh, and did I mention the hot tub? Wonderful!

It was a fabulous get-away with all of the amenities of home (including a well-equipped kitchen with Green Pans that I loved). We cooked all of our meals at the cabin with ease. The cabin is also super comfortable with two good sized bedrooms; each with 2 beds and their own bathroom. The morning sunrise is beautiful as it comes up over the mountains and breaks up the morning fog. We spent evenings playing board games around the large round dining table and then enjoyed watching The Office reruns on Netflix. We also built a fire in the outdoor fire pit and made s'mores. The cabin is very close to White Oak Canyon where we ventured off for a hike on the only sunny day that we had while there. Did I mention the neighbors? No? That's because there weren't any....unless you count the cows grazing in the field next door. All in all a fabulous vacation. We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately management at Lewis Cabins have taken the rustic concept waaaaay too far. The cabins have no no television, no Wi-Fi. Not even air conditioning. Frankly I was almost surprised that they had running water. When discussed the primitive accommodations with the management, they said that their basic nature was clear on their website and that most guests are campers that just want to get in out of the weather, or repeat customers who know what to expect. (They did acknowledge that the cabins get pretty hot in the summer with no A/C.) For almost $200/night, I cannot imagine a camper staying there. As to repeat customers, I just have to say that I will NOT be among their ranks. To those who are regulars, I hope you enjoy your night in the 18th Century.

There's no refrigeration or TV (and why would you want to watch TV anyway out in that beautiful nature?) but i was stoked that they had a Keurig coffee maker with coffee and supplies (because I have GOT to have coffee). The water pressure wasnt the greatest in the shower, but it stayed hot the entire time and I left feeling refreshed. It even came with Bath and Body works hygiene supplies, which made me very happy. You get your own little deck to sit out in a marvel at the nature around you. Honestly there is nothing like waking up in the morning and being surrounded by peaceful woods everywhere you go. This is a great place to be if you want to camp without completely roughing it out in the elements. We stayed ONE night, and I seriously wish we stayed. Worth a repeat trip!

My husband and I came to Luray for a quiet weekend away. Lisa was there to greet us and the two girls leading the groups were long time workers (since they were kids).
