A great little ropes course for having fun in Luray. There's a moment when climbing when I realized "wait, I didn't have to sign a waiver for this. Either they're reckless, or so confident in their course that I must be safe." Needless to say, I felt safe on the course. I weigh over 200 lbs. and the harness held me when I hung on without putting my feet on the ground. Also, the tracks are designed that the only openings for you to come off is at the entrance and exit. There's a great little training course just a couple feet off the ground. A good place to start with children and understand how to move the harness around when encountering other climbers so you can pass the other without getting harnesses tangled. There are various challenges throughout the course that range from easy to moderately challenging. These include static beams, to tightrope walking, or to swaying bridges or ropes. I wouldn't say anything is too hard. I think the Level 1 challenges were a little more manageable than the ones higher up on Level 2. The only one that genuinely scared me was a Level 2 spot to walk out on a beam, out over everything else (spoiler, the beam rocks up and down). The whole course crisscrosses so you can skip one challenge and still get to another one past it, and there are two staircases for moving between Levels 1 and 2. Fair to say, this is not for people with a fear of heights. Child #2 preferred the lower level, though he tried a few higher up. Child #1 is fearless and did most challenges 2 or more times. It was windy that day, so it was a little more daunting at times. One guy passed us on the way down from Level 2, clearly a little nervous. No judgment here. Know your limits! If it's not too crowded, you could do the whole course in 25 to 30 minutes, but we spent about an hour up there and had loads of fun. Would absolutely go again. read more

During my visit, I witnessed the course operator make a female guest cry. Her child (maybe 5 yrs old) was new to the country and didn't speak English very well. He came to the exit and the operator disconnected him before his parent could explain that he couldn't get back on. When the mother asked for an exception due to the language barrier, she was told that if he's going to be in America then he need to speak English. He then left his post to confront another guest who was nearby that told him his behavior was very rude. She told him to get out of her face and to walk away and he refused. Meanwhile, there are multiple people waiting to exit the course because he was too preoccupied trying to intimidate a woman. I've never seen an employee represent a tourist attraction so poorly. My family and I won't be coming back nor will I encourage any of my friends to go. But if you're looking for something new with a side of sexism and racism, have at it. read more

My family and I had a horrible experience. While I was watching my family on the ropes course, I witnessed an interaction between another guest and an employee. The guest explained that her son wanted to get back on the course, but the employee told her that once someone leaves the course, they cannot re-enter because that policy is explained before participants begin. The guest politely explained that her son does not understand English very well and asked if an exception could be made just this one time, assuring the employee that it would not happen again. Instead of handling the situation with empathy, the employee became rude. He told her, "If you're going to come to America, you need to know English," and then added that Luray is a "red county" where people speak English. The woman walked away in tears. Afterward, the employee looked at me, shook his head, and appeared to expect me to agree with him. I told him that I thought the way he had treated the guest was extremely rude. He argued with me, and I repeatedly told him to walk away. He instead told me that I should walk away. I explained that I was a paying customer who was there watching my children. He responded, "Well, you haven't been watching them for the last five minutes." I told him that was because he was acting aggressively toward me, so my attention was understandably focused on the confrontation. He then replied, "Just like a woman." As we were leaving, I asked to speak with the owner. During our conversation, I learned that the employee was his son. I asked whether he condoned having an employee who had behaved so rudely and made what I considered racist and sexist remarks, and whether that employee would still be working there if I ever returned. He said yes and stated that he did not understand how his son's comments were sexist. The owner did refund my money, which I appreciated. However, he also indicated that if I took the matter any further, he would not honor the discount. That came across as an attempt to discourage me from speaking about my experience. I will never return, and I cannot recommend this business to others. Based on what I personally witnessed and experienced, I cannot support a business that tolerates this kind of behavior toward its customers. read more

I mean, if you were here already and your kid has interest in trying it. It's safe. It's not as good as the one at Wolf Lodge but it's not very expensive and it doesn't require adult go with them if they're at least 10 and tall enough to reach the stuff. If you got little kids, you're gonna have to be adventurous and get in there with them cause they're gonna need help. My daughter played on it for about 45 minutes and had fun but told me afterwards it wasn't as good as the one at Wolf Lodge. read more

We came here with our homeschool group and this was so fun for all ages...from the littlest to the oldest! They have a shorter/easier course for the little ones who aren't tall enough to go up to the two higher courses. My 8 year old really enjoyed the challenge of the course. Some paths were easier than others and took some time to go through. We had 12 kids in our group and there was plenty of room for all of them to be on the course at the same time. The instructors that hooked them up with the harnesses was very kind and patient with all the kids. The weather was beautiful this day and so they really took their time on the ropes. I would imagine this might be rough to do in the summer heat though. read more

Our son loved it. 11$ for kids whos taller than 4 feet. Definitely a cool attraction to tire out your kids before bed. Our four year old refused to go on a little one after they have put a safety harness on her. I wish they would refund 7$ since she never went on it. read more

Took my grandkids to the rope adventure park. We had a great time maneuvering the rope obstacles. It will keep you kids occupied. Take them to the Luray Caverns maze also. Fun day. read more

My daughter had a really fun time doing the ropes! She stayed up for as long as she was able and found it really fun! They also have a museum that has stone slushing and she went nuts over the crystals she slushed out. Nice day at the park. read more

This was our first time doing this and let me tell you it was a BLAST! Who knew my daughter was not only NOT afraid of heights but she could climb like a money with no fear. Made me very proud to see that. Now my wife....LOL She did the toe tap on the rope many times before going an easier direction. What makes it so fun is that you can do that with out a problem. Other then the heat, we could have stayed there much longer. Truly a great part of our weekend adventure. read more

We let both of our kids try this ropes course. It's a metal structure that they are attached into the entire time - there is absolutely no chance of falling. It's 3 levels tall and box-shaped with lots of different obstacles to cross. We'd tried the same style course before at a theme park. Both my 9 and 6 year old loved it. Worth the money. read more

We took our first trip to Luray Caverns this past weekend. We did all the activities next to Luray Caverns, including the ropes course. We all did it, but some people just let their kids do it and they stayed on the ground and watched them. It wasn't scary, but it was fun. It is a steel structure, so it is sturdy. There are mostly different things to walk on, like a tight rope, balance beam, and steps placed at different angles and distances. There are three levels, but the first level is small and only for little kids. You could stay on as long as you wanted, which was nice. My seven year old daughter especially liked it. The only thing I didn't like about it is you can't take a cell phone or camera on it. They have lockers or you can take them to your car. read more

Lots of fun! A fair deal price-wise compared to the other overpriced activities in the Luray Caverns compound. We had a blast on a 80 degree, slow day. Varied between 5 to 15 other participants at a time on the structure while we were there. I do think this would be a unpleasant nightmare in 90+ degree heat or on a busy day. They let heavyset adults, very young children, and people who look like they are just discovering their acrophobia on the structure all at the same time - it can create some awkward traffic jams on the course's intersections.
