I would like to share my experience with the moving company Moving Proz. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely negative. I was misled regarding pricing, and I have calls in which company representatives admitted to providing false information and treating me unfairly. They broke over 1300 lbs of furniture in the move and tried everything in their power to not pay me even a reduced amount even after I provided them with everything they needed. Additionally, Moving Proz has been made aware that items were stolen from my home during the move. The Lee's Summit Police Department confirmed to the company that one of the movers who was inside my home was later found in possession of my property. My intent in sharing this is to inform Kansas City residents so they can make an informed decision and avoid a similar situation. I hope others can learn from my experience. read more

It is also important to observe how a growing number of customers edit their reviews after suspicious changes to their initial estimate/quote. In my own experience, the quoted price and crew will be adjusted to the highest eventuality by Moving Proz without notice. The movers are quality, but the customer service is mixed. I would not recommend this company based on their inability to hold to their word. There are countless local options with more transparent pricing that manage to honor their word as a business. Beware of using Moving Proz for your move. Their mover stole all of our jewelry and the company refused to pay us back for any of it. I hate calling out our local companies and want to see them all succeed, but moving Proz has treated us terribly. The mover was so sly and an experienced thief. He offered to set up our bedroom furniture and closed the door while we were distracted. They then left and we discovered all the jewelry was missing in our jewelry box (which was tucked away inside of a box within a drawer.) For 4 months, they kept reiterating to me that they wanted to make it right and would make amends. But after all of this waiting, they told me that they wouldn't compensate us back for any of it. Moving Proz is a dishonest, unethical, and opportunistic company. We wish we spent more time reading Google reviews where their crooked business model is on full display. Lesson learned. We were temporarily moving out of our house for a remodel. We kept several items in the basement and didn't move other items because they were being discarded. In other words, this wasn't a whole house move. And we were also only moving about a mile away. After explaining this to Moving Proz who did a virtual tour, we were surprised when they recommended using two large trucks and four movers, but they assured us it would result in a lower overall charge because the movers wouldn't need to spend as much time packing the truck. Trusting they were being honest, we agreed to these terms. However, without our permission, they showed up with five movers. They likely did this because other jobs likely cancelled due to forecasted rain, meaning they needed work for their employees. It was telling when the movers themselves said "This is all you are moving. Why do we have so many movers here?" It did rain that day, but not enough to justify the crew's 90-minute break, which they also charged us for. We didn't complain when they presented us with the bill right after the move because the total was close to the estimate. So, we approved the payment using our credit card and thought the transaction was complete. However, about 12 hours later (in the middle of the night), they charged an extra $409.50 to our credit card without our consent. When we asked about this unauthorized charge, they said it was for the fifth crew member. We believe they waited to charge us for the fifth crew member because they knew we would object to the additional charge in person. Instead, they went behind our back in a sneaky and dishonest manner. We will never use Moving Proz again and we recommend that you don't either. read more

My move took place on 11/29. After multiple conversations over the past 3 weeks, which all went like this. Me explaining in detail to multiple people at various levels in the Moving Proz organization what occurred during my move. Each level of personnel explains that an internal investigation will need to take place, then they will follow up with me. I have asked for a specific amount of time in which they would follow up and at times none were provided leaving it open ended and other times frames were provided and without fail never honored. Which forces me to write my 1st ever review, most of the time if I receive bad service, I do not use that company ever again. To start I was quoted $3,700 for my move and it cost me just under $4,700. I understood there could be some additional charges, but I would like to explain what transpired. When the movers arrived and walked the house, they verbally commented that this looks like it was quoted properly, and it should take around the estimate quoted. It took approximately 8-9 hours to load my house, which was the entire amount of time allotted for the entire move. When I asked the head mover why it took so long, he stated they ran out of room and had to repack the 2nd truck to make most of my stuff fit. That is right, they left some of my things at the house due to not fitting. My thoughts are they thought it would all fit and did not pack the 1st 26ft truck as tight as they could and part of the 2nd 26ft truck thinking it would all fit. As for leaving some of my stuff at the house I was moving out of was concerning for the following reason. I had things I was throwing out which some of the movers asked if they could have. I said of course, not knowing they loaded the stuff I had thrown out but did not finish loading my belongings. Which I handled myself. At both the house I moved from and house I moved too, the movers left trash at each location like energy drinks all over the place as well as water bottles I had given them. Which a company spokesperson stated "there is no monetary value associated with trash being left. I guess reputation is not important to them. Additionally, they did not put everything back together that they took apart due to how late it was when they were finally finishing up and seemed to be in a hurry to get done. They took off a door leading to the basement and failed to put the door back on. When I went to put the door on the pins were missing so I had to buy new ones to reinstall the door. Which again cost me more time and money. Although I think this situation warrants a monetary compensation my bigger concern at this point is this. Unless I called them they had no follow established to review the job with the customer and when I ( the customer) followed up with them they continue to push me down the road by not making a decision based on my feedback and the numerous internal investigation which they conducted. At least they could give a response either way. That has not happened to date even after I called them an hour ago. I would caution anyone using Moving Proz, not because of their workers, but more so their inability to address a matter and make a decision. Which is highly concerning! read more

Booked them for my move in March. 3 person crew, was friendly, professional & took care of my stuff. Before I could even sign & agree to terms two of them started loading things on the truck. Minimum time they have to charge you for two hours, but with the crew moving as fast as they did and me having all of my stuff for the most part packed, it took them less than an hour to move two bedrooms, a living room, and the dining room to my new place. Having utilized multiple moving companies for services ranging from in home furniture moving to cross country relocations, I could not be more disappointed with my experience with Moving Proz. They performed shockingly poorly at every aspect of the physical moving process, and even more poorly in their failed attempts for resolution. 1. The initial stop entailed emptying the storage unit into the 1st truck (this storage unit had been filled with the contents of a single truck by a reputable moving company with no difficulty. The team was incapable of fitting the items into a single truck, necessitating items to go into the 2nd truck (of 2). 2. The second stop was to the townhouse, where a substantial degree of preparation work had been completed ahead of time to facilitate a timely loading. The team indicated their intention to not deconstruct furniture, and would not have done so if I had not directly instructed them to. The intention to do no take down or set up was made ever more apparent by the team's lack of a simple screw driver or Allen wrench set. 3. The third step went relatively without incident until one of the movers released the air breaks on the 2nd truck, sending it crashing into a tree, rendering the rear door inoperable, trapping our belongings inside. The truck missed a car by a margin of approximately 3". One of the four movers proceeded to pout in the truck for the rest of our billed time that day while the remainder of the team failed to put together any of the furniture that made its way into the house prior to their departure. We received communication back from the general manager over an hour later to discuss the matter, noting that our items would not be available until the next day at the earliest. Covering accommodations was not mentioned until directly requested by my wife. This necessitated taking an additional day off of work to facilitate the continued move the next day. 4. The next day, a new team arrived with a new truck (equivalent in size) with our items, and the truck was 60% full, noting a substantial amount of improperly packed space. The second team assembled the furniture from the truck they unloaded and the furniture that was not addressed by the previous team. 5. Over the course of the next 3 days, I spent hours personally moving the remaining items that were not moved, using a mid-size SUV. 6. Resolving the aforementioned grievances with the customer service team proved to be an incredible waste of time. The company went ahead and auto-charged our card on file for the balance due before any resolution was reached. We were then informed that the overnight charge would be lifted (a charge caused because our belongings were trapped in the truck they crashed into our mature tree) only to find a new auto-charge for an additional sum (the charge for labor for the second team). Our dispute went on with the customer service team member, as no member of management found it necessary to interact with us. Eventually, it was determined by the entirely absent management team that no further credits would be allocated. To date, no credits have been received, as the company has required the signing of a waiver of liability before returning those funds. To summarize, if you are looking for a company to not move all of your belongings, crash their truck into your tree, not put your furniture together, make your items inaccessible for a day, cause you to miss work, waste your time not addressing the issue or coming up with an amicable solution, and auto-charging your credit card for more than you were quoted...then Moving Proz is the moving company for you. read more

Terrible experience. From beginning to end. One mover walked off the job that lasted one hour. We paid for 2.5 hours. They were over scheduled and the furniture was heavy which was disclosed at scheduling. My husband had to step in to get the job done. We needed to get it moved. One piece was left behind. They came back to get it 4 days later after numerous phone calls. The call center was rude. At one point they wouldn't take my calls as we kept wondering when/if they were going to show up. No one would address the over payment since the time agreed and the reality were not the same. No one has called to make it right after I left several messages. Hire a different company. read more

Avoid these hacks. Are they polite? Yes. Are they punctual? Yes. Do they respect your furniture? That's where the problems arise. Many of my smaller items were packed away with great care. My larger items? Not so much. They dropped my large rocking chair and ruined the fabric. They dropped my dining table from Unruh and cracked the top, plus they dragged the base of the table in gravel and scrapped it up. They destroyed the base of one of my lamps. They also banged up the walls of my new house. Why didn't I get insurance? I tried to sign up the insurance the morning they started moving, but was told I could not because the move had already begun (and soon my furniture would be mistreated). For a SMALL, LOCAL move, they are probably adequate. For a LARGE, out-of-state move, get full service insurance and USE SOMEONE ELSE. Their legally-mandated standard insurance is a joke and a waste of time. read more

Not a day goes by in the 3+ months since we moved that I'm not reminded about the things they broke and lost which need replacing. We entrusted these guys with two moves ...one to storage for a few months and the other to our new build house which they marked up walls. We requested the same crew but did not get even one original member. Nobody knew how to reassemble beds, one is a motion bed which took a long time for them to even figure out how to take apart and the 2nd crew not only did not know how to reassemble, but didn't know where parts had been stored (both beds, missing parts until we were fully unpacked). We had furniture that literally cracked on the wood slab, not the seam. I submitted a claim and they only covered a nominal cost. At the very least they could have sent somebody back to reassemble the beds which now sit partially broken and/or require a motion bed specialist at a significantly high cost to take apart the King bed, connect the electronics and get it working. We are seniors with minimal strength p/dexterity in our arms and the mattress alone is a heavy piece for us to lift without injury. they also lost several garage items during the move to or from storage. I think they let another moving company near our items and things ended up in somebody else's storage or van. read more

Kid you not, I blocked out the name of this company. I remembered the name when I was cleaning out my inbox. Horrible! Moved about 3.7 miles away and they charged me almost 2000 for a job that should've taken about 2.5 hours and it took them several hours to complete. They scratched up and dented the walls of the new place leaving streaks of the colors of the items they were moving. They took so long that I just had them leave all of the boxes downstairs of my new place. This was intentionally done so they could rack up the price up. Then they asked me if I wanted to tip at the end. Here's a tip, don't come high as a kite to move anything and you're on the job. Don't use the customer's restroom repeatedly blowing it up because you ate something that didn't agree with you. Please go home. Only one of the workers did anything at all. My son and myself started helping after a while. There is no way in the world. This business is getting positive reviews. In addition, the manager, or whoever I spoke to was full of it. He stated that he was going to call me back to rectify the situation, and I never heard from him. read more

Then, after under-quoting us -- despite the fact that we provided very accurate pictures according to the movers --- and the move taking far longer than it was supposed to, the company said they would reach out to discuss our poor experience. They kept passing us from person to person, including to their customer service team, which is overseas. The only reason we gave them 2 stars is because the movers were kind and tried their best to take good care of us. These guys were true Proz, as the name states! Scheduling was simple. I sent an inquiry via Yelp and we were quickly contacted to schedule a call. After the call we received a quote within minutes via email. They take a deposit up front and the rest is due after the job is complete. The crew showed up on time with a huge truck (included in the price) and two awesome employees. Both guys were super nice and the moved quickly! Our move was completed in under two hours and we had some really heavy things including two refrigerators, a sectional, and reclining sofa. I was so impressed. Avoid Moving Proz. When we moved house four months ago, our Moving Proz crew drug their feet to make the hourly rate increase, they bent or damaged many of our belongings and worst of all... stole from us. Among the stolen items were my most precious jewelry - tucked away in a box in a bedside table. A crew member offered to set up our bedroom and on a stressful day we thought that was a nice gesture. Until we soon found out he rummaged through my drawer and took everything of value. Once we filed a police report and made Moving Proz aware they said they would "make it right." Which apparently meant "do nothing." They have refused to give a refund or give us the value of the stolen jewelry. They have been awful to communicate with - unreliable and inconsistent. We strongly advise those who are moving to use another local company and those who have used Moving Proz to double check their belongings and account for everything. read more

Moved 4/27/2024. Around $1150 total cost for 1322SF ranch house (leaving a lot of large items), and moving 8 minutes away. First time using movers. Didn't know they couldn't move some totes and also some containers with slightly open items. As such, they moved almost nothing from our basement. Perhaps that was on us so not holding against them. The good: The team was nice and somewhat professional. We ended up with a couple of small scratches on furniture (a bit annoyed at this) and only very minor paint chipping (seriously no big deal, expected worse). Team moved things to the floor and room we wanted which was awesome. They seemed to be generally good guys. The bad: We were moving from a 1322SF house, and somehow it was 4.5 hours. Everything was boxed up near perfectly, and they refused to take anything not perfectly boxed up.. We required no packing or breaking down anything from them as we did it all ourselves. However, almost nothing large was moved. The following stayed at the house: washer, dryer, refrigerator, microwave, stove, ping pong table, foosball table, large sectional, upright freezer in basement, kitchen cart, a rug, etc. We were quoted 4 hours but told highly likely they could complete in 3.5 due to our smaller house and multiple large items staying at the property. Somehow it was 4.5 hours. Keep in mind we moved 8 minutes away. Additionally, the moving crew apparently switched halfway through the move. Called customer service as we were not sure where they were. Unable to get through at all. They eventually showed up 35 minutes later. Also they couldn't take some items as there "wasn't enough room" or "not enough straps" etc. They estimated our house and left quite a bit for us to move ourselves due to open containers and bigger items largely stayed. They should have brought a bigger truck, or more than one? This is unacceptable. Was asked to review them on Google before getting our official quote at the end. Gave a 5 star and regret it, never again until the full service is completed. Overall not great experience, but far from amazing. (Not an absolute nightmare though). But we expected better and would would not use Moving Proz again, nor recommend them as the value and quote did not seem to be there. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE! Paid over $2,700 for Moving Proz to pack and move us from 1,300 to 3,700 sq ft, 2.4 miles away. I supervised them at first. Later, I offered to help them by driving to the final location and unloading my car (they loaded my car with bins, and I figured I'd unload them for them). I also told them I'd buy them lunch, and would return with their food. When I had the food in hand, and told them I was coming back, Mateo Chavez (lead mover) weirdly discouraged me from returning, saying they didn't need to eat right then and were leaving to come to the house. However, they didn't arrive for an hour (it's a 6 minute drive). Perhaps they needed a break, but it was weird they wouldn't want their lunch as part of that. I now believe they were trying to prevent me from coming back to the initial location, where I'd discover they hadn't finished the job. When they finally arrived, they unloaded everything. After they got their $2,700+ and left (tipped and with pizza), we discovered several problems, the main one being that they DID NOT ACTUALLY PACK NOR MOVE MANY ITEMS FROM THE INITIAL LOCATION. They actually threw items into piles at the initial location and left them there, after lying to us and dissuading me from returning to the property. They also left their trash/drink bottles everywhere. Given that we had closed and had to be out of that location by midnight, I went to Home Depot to buy boxes and tape (they have the receipt but refuse to reimburse). I also immediately texted Mateo, who claimed they ran out of boxes and were "trying to stay on schedule." But he never told me these things, never notified me. I immediately called Moving Proz customer service, who was polite but noncommittal. He said that he was very sorry and admitted all wrongdoing, but kept saying he needed to "talk to the manager and would keep [me] posted." I called three times and at the third conversation he said he was trying to get some movers out that night, to do the job, but couldn't guarantee it. He wouldn't discuss any possibility of a refund. After three conversations he said he would call me back ASAP. So I stopped calling. And waited. I finally called back, and got a voicemail saying that customer service is closed. We've been defrauded. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THIS! Also: * Destroyed my dresser, said it was my fault. * Broke storage shelf, said it was already broken (nope). * Movers (4) were WAY too young. Two looked to be no more than 16. I caught one of them smoking at my house (hiding around the side of the house). I later found 2 cigarette butts. * They never notified us they were out of boxes. Instead, they just stopped packing and left the initial residences with unpacked items they threw into piles (clean linens on the filthy floor). * My wedding fur was thrown onto the floor in the closet, still on the hanger. * We know they lied about being out of boxes, as I saw stacked flattened boxes inside the truck during unloading. * Unpacking, we discovered over 50% of boxes were only 2/3 full. They didn't fill the boxes *we paid for*. * There was never a maximum number of boxes quoted. * They lied, said that everything was off the patios from the first location (I have texts). * Movers told customer service we had "gone over inventory" but this is not reflected on the quote/contract. In fact, the quote showed us paying for 40 boxes, plus 3 wardrobe boxes, but they only packed 30 boxes. This is UNDER inventory. * One of the "wardrobe boxes" ($16.99), which costs 5x a normal box, wasn't a wardrobe box- it was a box they stuffed hanging clothes in, wrinkling everything. * Several hanging clothes were left in the closet, yet one of the wardrobe boxes was packed less than 50% full. * Getting them to reassemble beds was impossible. One bed isn't assembled and we have to hire someone. * Several items from inventory list were not moved (two chairs, dog house, etc). This is not "going over inventory." * Never got an itemized receipt. Receipt only shows the total. * Customer service admitted mistakes, then ghosted us. read more

There were four young men who showed up at our home, with two moving trucks. They made us sign a waiver stating that they were not responsible for any damages that may happen to our belongings, and then proceeded to rush and treat our things very carelessly. They broke both of the fish aquariums that they moved, they tried to get out of moving my son's bunk bed, even though it was on the itemized list of things they were supposed to be taking, then they stripped a bolt while trying to disassemble the bed, and refused to remove the rest of it because they couldn't get it apart. They failed to take several of the items that they were supposed to take, and I accidentally overheard them bad-mouthing us, saying that they weren't going to touch the bed because one of them was convinced that we have bed bugs and that the bed was going to be disgusting. We don't have bed bugs, and the bed is almost brand new and is spotless. They said some other things as well, but I won't repeat them here. Even though they didn't remove about half of the things that we had hired them to, and one of the trucks was empty and the other was only about half full, they declared that they couldn't take any more stuff, and headed off to our new home to unload. I wound up having to rent a U-Haul and round up a team of friends in order to get the rest of the stuff that they left in the old house. I reached out to the company about these issues, and received no response, which just goes to show that they don't really care about anything but your money. If you don't mind them breaking your things, making you sign a waiver stating that they are not responsible for those broken things, bad mouthing you within earshot, and being rude and careless, then I suppose this is the company for you. If you want someone who will treat you and your things with respect, please look somewhere else. read more

I had the worst moving experience ever with this company. I have used this company numerous times, referred countless people to them and this last experience was so bad that I wanted to share with anybody who is considering using them so nobody has to go thru this. Movers arrived to my house on time which was a plus. As soon as they walked in the door I instantly smelled marijuana. Should have said something but against my better judgement ignored it. They started unassembling items to move for me that I didn't sign a liability waiver for and I said nothing. While I was uneasy I had used these guys so many times I just didn't want to start anything with the movers and the company to make it a really awkward situation. Took almost 4 hours for them to move me, I was quoted approx $600 and it ended up costing $1500 after a 10% tip because it went much longer than expected. Definitely a huge shock to me and was upset because they disassembled my TV without asking and had dropped it while trying to reassemble it in my bedroom. Turn on TV and yes my 90" TV has lines in the screen and isn't operable. TV cost me $3000. I then contact moving company because still at this time I'm like well I know these guys so I know they'll make it right and take care of me like normal. That's not what happened at all. Contacted Manager who kinda chuckled when I mentioned the weed smell on his crew like it was no big deal. Said well I can offer you $170 back for labor because they were high and moving slower than normal then I'll also let you go thru insurance as a courtesy because normally if we gave you a credit for the move we wouldn't let you submit an insurance claim *yes my mind is about to explode that this is told to me like I'm getting this big benefit and deal when I'm currently out $4500 for a move and broken TV* Contact insurance company and it takes almost a month for them to go thru everything to give me a quote for the claim. Company is found to be guilty and in this event per the contract they can do one of the following -Try to repair TV for customer -Try to replace TV with a similar one -Make a monetary settlement offer for the actual cash value of the item -Make a monetary offer at .60 a lb Take a wild guess at what they chose? Yes .60 a lb and they offered me $27 for my $3000 TV The manager said that's him going above and beyond for me. I responded to that email 11 days ago mentioning the above and that the. 60 a lb was the worst option they could give me and with the circumstances with the crew being under the influence I expected so much more from them. I can't say enough wonderful things about these guys. Their service was fast, efficient, and very affordable. Within 15 minutes of calling to receive a quote, I was booked with zero issues. They sent a text and email every step of the way to let me know about pending arrival times and confirmation of service. The guys were even helpful with advice on how to drive with a trailer hitch. Several relatives of mine showed up while the movers were there to see me off (relocated) and they too were impressed and took a picture of the truck to remember the name and phone number of the company as they too plan on using them for upcoming moves. Do yourself a favor and don't look anywhere else. These guys are it! P.S. I originally left this review for the WRONG company (Moving Pros) instead of Moving PROZ. Run. Don't do it. Find another company. Their driver recklessly reversed their moving truck onto our grass, hitting a tree and denting the back so severely our things could not get out of the van. Their GM Nick was so inexperienced in the handling of this situation that he barely knew how to deal with the process of getting us a hotel room for the night. (Said it would need to be a 3star or lower hotel for $200 per night or less. We are a family of four...) They didn't even assemble the furniture the COULD deliver that first day, not to mention half a garage full of boxes the movers couldn't fit in the trucks bc they're so bad at loading. Then to top it off, after my husband took off work to receive the movers the following day, they charged us for the additional labor! They said giving us a refund would be too much for their small business. If your margins are so narrow that your workers errors aren't reimbursed and your customer service is poor, maybe this isn't the business for you. I've told everyone I know to avoid this inexperienced company. We should have gone with Mike Hammer like we did previously. read more
