HORRIBLE customer service!!!!!!!! booked on a fri, had some family emergencies and had to cancel due to being unable to travel and emailed to cancel on the same day. SAME DAY that I booked, lady on the phone told me "if you would have called right away we could have maybe done something".... I CALLED, and nobody was there and she goes "well there was no-one here it was after hours" soooo I emailed...... which was dated that Friday I booked and they are still charging me $50.00 to cancel. I get policies and cancellation fees. but come on.. the reservation was more than a month away and canceled (attempted) the same day as noted on email. Horrible customer service. We had reservations for the last weekend in June. Our 8 year old son just recently passed away unexpectedly and we are trying to cope with that and do all the things that come with the horrible circumstance. Needless to say, I called to cancel our reservations. I knew there would be a $50 cancellation fee no problem. In the fine print of the FAQ page, it says reservations must be cancelled at least 10 days prior (I didn't see that). I told the lady owner why we were cancelling. She said sorry, those are the rules and I understand what you are going through because I am about to lose my spouse. Losing a spouse is extremely difficult, but it is not even close to losing a child, especially when your spouse is elderly. It was really just a complete lack of empathy. read more

Despite seeming to be dog friendly, on the last day of our trip a staff member named Charlene reprimanded us for our leashed dogs barking at her when she approached our camp to clean a near by camp site. She stated our dogs should either have bark collars or be kept in the trainer. I've not met many dogs who wouldn't bark at a stranger approaching their space and family. This is our 3rd year coming here and have never had a problem before. I hope the owner will see this and take action as I assume they may continue to lose business. If the owner does see this we would be happy to discuss and also put them in touch with another family that had a similar experience who for that reason no longer camps there. read more

This is our second trip to Movin' West RV Park and won't be our last. The park is immaculate, the bunk house with showers and facilities is clean, the people who run the park are available and accommodating, and the spaces are decent size for RV's. The full service hook-ups work without a problem, the trees are beautiful and the park is quiet. It's about 3/4 mile from Graeagle, 15 miles or so from Portola, and 50+ to Reno. Both Highway 70 from Hallelujah Junction/Portola and Highway 89 from Truckee are good roads. While there isn't much in Graeagle other than a cafe, general store (well stocked), and gas station, with an Ace Hardware close by in adjacent Blairsden, the local scenery is pretty and the close-by available fishing is good. We fished in the Feather River about 5 minutes away and caught some trout. The Gold Lake Highway is close and there is good fishing in Gold Lake, Upper Salmon Lake, and Sardine Lake. The river, just down the road in Clio, also looked inviting for fishing although I didn't try it yet. We had two dogs with us and Charlene, an employee, only barked at us once. This place is incredible. I don't believe I've ever given 5 stars to any rv/camp resort. From booking to checkout it was the best experience ever had. The grounds are amazingly beautiful and well kept. The spots are larger than most places with some having grass areas which is nice. The bathrooms and showers impeccably clean with seriously hot water! Laundry facilities and picnic areas and more. However the reason for the 5 stars is because of the camp host GAYLA! Wow. Talk about customer service and caring and making sure everyone is well taken care of. She is super friendly and helpful and has a wonderful disposition. (Saw and heard her handle a guest who was not nice nor was the guest's complaint valid) she handled herself remarkably. I've never seen a host so patient and kind. Someone who really takes pride in what she does. Just for that it's worth coming back. But all around we absolutely loved this place and plan to return. Thank you for a wonderful visit! read more

I recently had some family coming in from the San Diego area for a visit. Upon learning that we would have visitors for the 4th of July holiday, we set out to find a campground that still had some spaces open and stumbled across the Movin' West Campground here on Yelp........I am SO glad that we did! Movin West RV Park is located in the cute little town of Graeagle, and is close to the center of town. There are several small lakes nearby that are perfect for a quick dip on a hot day. There are two small cabins for rent, as well as tent camping spots and pull in RV Spaces with full hookups available. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our wonderful camp host, Gayla. After giving my girls a little treat, she handed over the keys to our cabin and the Wi-Fi password. Quick and easy check-ins are the best kind!! Our cabin was cute and simple. One queen bed and a bunkbed for the munchkins. There was a ceiling fan for circulating air and a few windows to let the fresh air in. The cabins do not come with any sort of bedding, but I would much rather bring my own bedding anyway, so that was a plus for me! For someone like me, who does not have an RV, but wanted to be able to "camp" with my family, this was more than perfect. The price was perfect too, at just $55.00 per night. My family members reserved three of their RV parking spots with full hook ups. All spots were spacious, and easy to get in and out of. Two of them had a large area of grass to set up games, chairs and even had sufficient picnic table seating for our large family to gather at mealtime. The bathrooms and showers are immaculate and were painted a pretty purple color, reminiscent of the lavender you smell when you walk in. The laundry facilities are also tidy and really handy to have available if you're staying for more than a few days. This campground is definitely not a party campground, as there are several residents that live there year-round, but it is a perfect campground for a relaxing get away and the kids had a blast!! We were supposed to stay a week and a half for the kids summer break but only stayed 5 days. I should have read the reviews about the camp hosts. I stay at RV resorts all over the country and have never been treated so poorly. I rented 3 spots for family members as well. From the minute we got there, management was unorganized and confused. They began interrogation me like I was a criminal because of their confusion. The issues didn't stop there. As the previous writer stated they are Nazi management. They addressed us on on issues with dogs, garbage left in the trash cans, their dying grass and our kids playing not even on their property. We don't have issues with the rules but the way they spoke to us was unprofessional and rude. On 2 occasions they asked us to step outside the trailer and to have everyone come outside so they could speak to our whole family. We were treated like we were little kids. On day 5 and the 2nd time we were asked to step outside, I told them I had no problems with the rules but they could speak to us more professional or politely. That is when the manager, John lost his cool. I don't think anyone stands up to him. He became very angry and said we could leave then or better yet he would be calling the sheriff. Our kids were now terrified and no longer wanted to be there. We later went to the office and began discussing what had occurred and how we would be getting our money back. John stated he didn't think we needed to leave because of the minor issues we had talked about but because we weren't seeing eye to eye he no longer wanted us there. (Me addressing the way he spoke)This was perfect because we were able to get reimbursed but how bizarre. The worst part was the kids vacation was cut short. The best part was we video recorded our conversation with him which I asked the owner if he wanted to see. As we were being reimbursed the Sheriff actually arrived. He really called them over this. THe sherrif obviously thought this was crazy and advised I look into more civil compensation. The owner later contacted me and was very apologetic. Unfortunately, it was too late. He stated he hasn't had problems with the management but clearly from the reviews and word of mouth that isn't 100% accurate. He also told me he would contact me later after again speaking with John but I got no call. Still have the video of his manager acting irrational. A couple more things. The power in the park continued to go out which was problematic as our infant is on oxygen 24/7. Probably the reason their grass was dying as well as we never saw the sprinklers turn on. Business must be booming for them as losing 3 great customers isn't a big deal. read more

Not only was the staff rude and unreasonable they had horrible tact and even worse timing. This campground may seem to be dog friendly, yet on the last day of our trip a staff member proved that was not the case. Charlene the supposed assistant manager reprimanded us for our leashed dogs barking at her when she approached our camp and children, to clean a near by camp site. Male camphost was not only extremely rude to us; he was downright confrontational. My son and I stayed in our pop up camper for 3 nights for a nearby family reunion. We were driving through the park to dump our trash at UNDER 10mph. Camp host drove head- on in front of us in his golf cart, blocking us. He rudely asked if we were staying there then DEMANDED to know which site number. He then informed us the speed limit was 5mph (were were probably going 8). He refused to make eye contact, say good morning or even wave goodbye the day we left. Worst campground experience I've ever had in several decades of camping. It was clean and quiet but left a very bad impression. Not welcoming at all! If they don't want pop up campers there, they should not book them. read more

Always 5 stars when people go above and beyond to help weary travelers that planned poorly and had no reservations (that's us). Plus: it's easy to park, very well kept grounds, rural but close enough to restaurants and town, and the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen. And great proximity to a state park. read more

From the friendly and helpful camp host, Gayla, to the manicured campsites, we couldn't have been happier. Quiet (even with the number of children there), well-tended lawn and flower gardens, immaculate bathrooms and showers (free), screw-in sewer hookups, free coffee and pastries on weekend mornings, made a pleasant stay. There's also a good 1/2-mile walk into the small town of Graeagle. My only negative would be the difficult hookup to electrical (30A only), that's it. We had a VERY nice one-night stay here and will definitely be back. read more

This is our favorite campground! This was our second stay here and it's perfect in every way. The hosts are very helpful and friendly. The park is well maintained and beautiful with little lawns and flower plantings here and there. It's set amongst towering pines and it backs up into forests with many little intersecting trails (think it's probably riding trails for the horse stables nearby but it works well for a morning or sunset ramble) and the park has put out a couple of chairs and a table at the end of the meadow view trail. Movin' West is very close to "downtown" Graeagle and also near to the Lakes Basin road that takes you to all kinds of lovely lakes for kayaking and hiking. Gumba's pizza is nearby and they have become a regular place for us as well. The review before mine? I have NO idea why these people had such a poor time and gave such a poor review? They must have been having a really bad day and took it out on the nice people who run this resort. I, myself and my co-travelers are very grateful to have found this place! My wife and I had a really nice time here, Susan was very nice and showed us to our spot and explained everything well, very clean park with room for your dogs and some bike trails. It's beautiful and the area to explore around is amazing, great restaurants in town also, I reccomend grizzly grill it's up there with the best. I almost hate to leave a good review because I don't want people to know about our new favorite camp spot. First of all our camp hosts Susan and John were absolutely amazing. So patient and so helpful. John helped us back into our campsite which was great since it was our first run out I was a bit rusty. They offered multiple suggestions for fishing holes and other areas to check out for camping. Besides just being good ol friendly folks they are very knowledgeable with the area. The campsite is kept very nice with plants and flowers and also clean. They sell a large amount of firewood for a great price if you don't want to deal with agriculture on your way into California. I hate to recommend it to the general public, but if you want to check out the Graeagle area and Lakes Basin area this is a great small little camp area, none of the campsites appear too crowded. You're also able to walk through the back of the campground into the town of Greyeagle about a mile walk. There is a cow pasture to the left of the campground don't be worried, it didn't smell at all the entire time we were there. We enjoyed watching the cows come into the meadow every evening. They do allow dogs and have very specific rules as to where pets can be I really appreciated this. Great lil spot for camping. read more

This place is awesome. The camp hosts do a fabulous job keeping the park clean and friendly. The setting is peaceful and quiet, with activities for all types of outdoor lovers. We've been coming here for 10 years now, and we were worried when the ownership changed; well, there was no need! The park just keeps getting better and better. My wife and I have been staying at this park since 2007. It is our favorite RV Park in northern Nevada and California. It it always clean, from the grounds to the restrooms -showers. Our site as well as the entire park is well landscaped and adorned with beautiful plants and flowers. We love that they recycle and are always picking up any small piece of trash or tree droppings in the pristine surroundings. The Managers, John and Susan as well as Gayla and Sam are very friendly, experienced and talented. They keep the park in beautiful shape and well managed.They can give you advice on where to hike and fish and where to see many interesting sites in the area. We found the park by accident and what a great surprise! Very close to town, very clean and quiet. We prefer not to stay in RV parks because we are just a cab over camper and some of the RV's are so big and you are just crammed into a bunch of spots- not so with Movin West- the layout was really nice, the staff was so helpful and the bathrooms are absolutely spotless. I have been coming to Graeagle for over thirty years, the last three in an RV trailer. We stayed at a full hook up site near by that was fine, but had to always drive into Graeagle. Friends who have stayed at Movin West for many years suggested we had to stay there. The location is great within walking distance to Graeagle. It is a fairly small rv park and somewhat difficult to get your premium spot in high season, but they are very accommodating to securing you the same date for the following year if you choose so it works both ways. The management, Susan, Gala, Jim & John are great folks and go out of their way to help in any way. Yes, there are some camp rules that they are quite firm on. No pets off leash and they must stay off the grass toward the back of the park. As a pet owner I get it. They want the grass area to be free of pee and poop. There is plenty of room to take your dog off leash for some play time at the back of the park. Outside of this, it is just normal good neighbor etiquette. We have had some guests come in for dinner and evening levity and never have had a problem. I read one comment that they had guests come in and had a problem and I can only say that the guests were possibly jerks. Just sayin. BTW...the bathrooms are kept incredibly clean. So much that you may choose to use their showers vs. your campers. Also note, they do not allow any additional tents on your site or elsewhere. At this time, only 30 amp service read more

This is a great RV campground. We have been staying there the first week of July for the past 4 years and just booked our site for next year. It is very centrally located and is walking distance into town. The entire campground is quiet and very clean. The sites are very well maintained with lots of big trees and shade. The staff is always friendly, always offer to show you to your site when you arrive, and even help you back your trailer into the site if needed. The bathrooms and showers are by far the cleanest that I have ever seen at a campground. We had no electrical or Wi-Fi issues as other reviewers have complained about, but really only used Wi-Fi to occasionally check emails. We will definitely continue to stay at Movin West. read more

Being going to this campground for years but it was purchased about 5 or so years ago by the new owners. The guy Art, is a total rules nazi and makes them up as he goes and they are different every time. Very oppressive environment. No camp fires during high season (isn't that why you have insurance?) and they internet service could best be described as why bother. When you ask them for the password, they say only use it for e-mail cause if you try to stream video it will crash the connection. Tried to put a tent for the kids on our site next to our trailer and was shot down. Even offered to pay more, shot down again. For what reason. Some people have no power their whole life and when they acquire a little bit they will steam roll you over with it. This place was a place that we frequented multiple times a year and it is now on my black list. Time for a new camp location. Sad cause it was always one of our favorite spots. And just in case you think I may sound like a disgruntled camper, this went on for five or more years of trying to please this camp host/owner and it just finally got to be unbearable. The straw that broke the camels back was when we had reservations and had to cancel suddenly when my wife's father passed away, they would not give us a refund. How heartless can you be? Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere! read more

Geez, just read the yelp review of 7/2/16 and was confused as to whether we stayed at the same Movin' West campground with the same host. We are two people that just bought our first small RV and are still fairly intimidated about how to use everything. We were brave enough to go dry camping for a few days, using the generator and the bathroom for the first time. On Saturday, October 22nd, my friend insisted that we go to an RV park for hook-up, even though we'd never done that before either. Little did I know that my friend was loving RVing but loving watching the baseball play-offs more! So....we arrived at Movin' West RV Park and were greeted warmly by the camp host, Susan. We quickly confessed that we were newbies to RVing and didn't know how to hook up an RV to camp hookups. When we asked for a space away from the road, she lead us to a great spot (in her famous golf cart) that was back from the main road and had some privacy. She helped us back the RV in because there were tall trees on either side of the space. Susan then showed us how to hook up both the electric and cable. Okay...so my friend was thrilled...we were going to watch the Dodgers and Cubs! We got the beer and game day snacks together, put on our Cubs regalia and NO PLAY-OFFS on the TV!!! Now, we were resigned to listen to the game on the radio. A few minutes later, Susan came by and asked if we were able to get the game. When she learned we could not find it, she disappeared. A half hour later, she came back and told us that she had called the cable provider, rescanned the stations and we now had the play-offs!!! The whole campground became animated because of the access to the game and Susan was a star!! Now, you would think that this would be the best service ever in an RV park...but, (mature audiences only) when we didn't know how to use the dumpsite, Susan came in like a Ninja, complete with gloves, and demonstrated how to evacuate the plumbing!!! Goodness, that was a learning experience!! Thank you, Susan...that is up and beyond your job description!!! We will be back as more experienced RVers because of you! read more

We just returned on 6/30/15 from a 4 day stay at Movin' West. We had extreme difficulty with our electrical power while there and assumed the problem was within our 5th wheel. We changed the main GFI switch twice thinking something in our rig kept blowing the switch. The strange thing is that the power would occassionally switch back on and then go off almost immediately. We talked to the hosts who assured us that an upgrade had just been done on the power at the posts so doubted the issue was theirs. We talked to a mechanic on our way home about the problem who suggested we get home and plug everything into our power source at home to be sure the issue was not the RV park's delivery problem. Lo and behold, once home with consistent electrical service we can run everything including two air conditioners, several fans, etc at the same time with no problem. We called Movin' West to report that the problem did seem to be theirs and they were not interested. So RVers beware about the electrical delivery if you decide to stay at this park. read more
