I recently had some family coming in from the San Diego area for a visit. Upon learning that we would have visitors for the 4th of July holiday, we set out to find a campground that still had some spaces open and stumbled across the Movin' West Campground here on Yelp........I am SO glad that we did! Movin West RV Park is located in the cute little town of Graeagle, and is close to the center of town. There are several small lakes nearby that are perfect for a quick dip on a hot day. There are two small cabins for rent, as well as tent camping spots and pull in RV Spaces with full hookups available. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our wonderful camp host, Gayla. After giving my girls a little treat, she handed over the keys to our cabin and the Wi-Fi password. Quick and easy check-ins are the best kind!! Our cabin was cute and simple. One queen bed and a bunkbed for the munchkins. There was a ceiling fan for circulating air and a few windows to let the fresh air in. The cabins do not come with any sort of bedding, but I would much rather bring my own bedding anyway, so that was a plus for me! For someone like me, who does not have an RV, but wanted to be able to "camp" with my family, this was more than perfect. The price was perfect too, at just $55.00 per night. My family members reserved three of their RV parking spots with full hook ups. All spots were spacious, and easy to get in and out of. Two of them had a large area of grass to set up games, chairs and even had sufficient picnic table seating for our large family to gather at mealtime. The bathrooms and showers are immaculate and were painted a pretty purple color, reminiscent of the lavender you smell when you walk in. The laundry facilities are also tidy and really handy to have available if you're staying for more than a few days. This campground is definitely not a party campground, as there are several residents that live there year-round, but it is a perfect campground for a relaxing get away and the kids had a blast!! We will definitely be coming back.

This is our favorite campground! This was our second stay here and it's perfect in every way. The hosts are very helpful and friendly. The park is well maintained and beautiful with little lawns and flower plantings here and there. It's set amongst towering pines and it backs up into forests with many little intersecting trails (think it's probably riding trails for the horse stables nearby but it works well for a morning or sunset ramble) and the park has put out a couple of chairs and a table at the end of the meadow view trail. Movin' West is very close to "downtown" Graeagle and also near to the Lakes Basin road that takes you to all kinds of lovely lakes for kayaking and hiking. Gumba's pizza is nearby and they have become a regular place for us as well. The review before mine? I have NO idea why these people had such a poor time and gave such a poor review? They must have been having a really bad day and took it out on the nice people who run this resort. I, myself and my co-travelers are very grateful to have found this place! We'll be back!!!

I almost hate to leave a good review because I don't want people to know about our new favorite camp spot. First of all our camp hosts Susan and John were absolutely amazing. So patient and so helpful. John helped us back into our campsite which was great since it was our first run out I was a bit rusty. They offered multiple suggestions for fishing holes and other areas to check out for camping. Besides just being good ol friendly folks they are very knowledgeable with the area. The campsite is kept very nice with plants and flowers and also clean. They sell a large amount of firewood for a great price if you don't want to deal with agriculture on your way into California. I hate to recommend it to the general public, but if you want to check out the Graeagle area and Lakes Basin area this is a great small little camp area, none of the campsites appear too crowded. You're also able to walk through the back of the campground into the town of Greyeagle about a mile walk. There is a cow pasture to the left of the campground don't be worried, it didn't smell at all the entire time we were there. We enjoyed watching the cows come into the meadow every evening. They do allow dogs and have very specific rules as to where pets can be I really appreciated this. Great lil spot for camping.

    Office and covered deck.

Clean with large sites, close to town and services. Friendly staff. Showers are free. Quiet at night, tree lines sites with a fair price.

It's a hidden gem, compared to more popular, overcrowded nature areas. Mike and Brandi were super responsive and helpful via text and in person. It truly is a family business so always happy to support that. We stayed at one of the two campsites and it seems like, at least when we were there, the rest of the RV park folks there were mostly chill, quiet seniors. We helped ourselves to free hot showers (!!!!) and had the sparkling clean restrooms pretty much to ourselves the entire weekend. Nice hiking trail on their property, games and activities available if you choose. We chose to SUP, check out all the pretty lakes in the area. Highly recommend this campground, will visit again.

Only complaint is Dale and the boys working on their trucks ALL NIGHT LONG. I don't know what they were on but it rhymes with Shmeth. People actually live on the SE side of the campground so unless you're in to tweakers banging on things all night, don't stay on that side of the campground. Super loud metal on metal and welding and grinding. I didn't plan on staying at an auto shop but here we are. So we have to be quiet after 10 but they can rage all night? No thanks I do appreciate the care that the owners have put in to this spot, again, super clean and very well maintained. Location is great for golf, local restaurants etc. I'd stay here again but Dale and the boys better put their tools away. Other than that, super great experience

Elwell or Pacific Crest Trail you will not be disappointed by the beautiful nature views plus the four alpine lakes that on this trip in November we weren't brave enough to take a dip in but our Hobey doggy thoroughly enjoyed and we found to be of temperature similar to Lake Tahoe. Big Bear, Little Bear, Cub and Long Lake were exactly what we needed to put us back in touch with the serene vibes of the peacefulness of being outside with nature. The road to get to the trailhead is doable in a small car, but take it slow as there are potholes and lots of blind corners. There's a well-maintained bathroom at the start of the trail and good signage. Parking is pretty good, there were plenty of spaces when I went but i could see it getting crowded during the summer months. The trail to long lake is relatively easy, but I wouldn't suggest it for someone with limited mobility. It's also a short hike with almost immediate payoff once you get to long lake, which is BEAUTIFUL. My dog and I elected to keep going past long lake toward the dam, and passed several small pretty lakes and streams on the way there. The trail was a little icy when I went in early December, but nothing too crazy.

I was surprised at how expensive it was for just doing a dry spot, the total came out to just over $300 for 3 nights which felt like more than we usually spend. We stayed at 8 Fox Run Rd which was also labeled as D7 which made it a bit confusing to find. Our spot was big enough for us plus our friends who also have a truck camper. We enjoyed being near the dog park so our dogs could run around there off leash. This site is further away from most of the other RVs and didn't have neighbors close by. We were close to many pine trees instead which we loved! There's a bathroom pretty close to this site which was kept clean all weekend and even has free showers; all were things we appreciated since our campers don't have full bathrooms. They are doing a ton of construction on the main highway right next to the campsite but it was still surprisingly quiet for our three nights, we did not wake up at night due to the noise or feel bothered by it during the day. The star gazing here is prime, they have nice fire pits, and a lot of great activities for kids (game room, swimming pool, mini golf, horseshoes, playground, basketball, etc). We enjoyed our stay here and would probably come back again despite the price because it felt worth it!

I stayed at Upper Jamison Creek, and loved it. I made reservations about a week ahead of time on Reservecalifornia.com My site was very spacious, private, and well shaded. There were lots of redwoods on my site, some purple irises, and even some snow plant. There are a few lovely short trails that run throughout the park, like the one mile hike from the campground to the Visitor Center, or an extra mile to Camp Lisa or the Jamison Mine Complex. From the historic mine complex, the PCT is just three miles away. Or, you can also drive to the trail head and park there. In the other direction, the Trail carries on to a series of alpine lakes and waterfalls. Like other reviewers have said, it was very cold at night. Even in June, I needed both sleeping bags. There are several other amazing hikes within driving distance. If you look carefully, there are some free campgrounds, too. The only time this state park charges fees is to camp at the nicer campgrounds. All parking is free. Showers are free. Plumas Eureka is more accessible than some state parks. They Reserve disabled sites for people with disabled passes, which is something to keep in mind if you have a pass and are looking for a site at the last minute. Lots of gorgeous lakes and opportunities for kayaking, too. Pretty much as good as it gets for a state campground.
