We have been customers of MP Demetre Jewelers twice now. It started when my 16 yo son decided that he would use the money he earned from his summer job to buy a Hamilton watch. We vacation in South Carolina in December and since we don't have a local Hamilton Dealer my son waited until our December visit. When we walked into the store, I was worried that he wouldn't be taken seriously, as he was a teenager and kind of knew what he wanted, but wasn't quite sure. Andrew was who waited on him was awesome with my son. He allowed him to try on different watches. We even went to lunch and came back so that my son made sure that he was buying a watch that he really wanted. Fast forward to this December, he graduates from high school in May and wanted a watch as his gift. My son emailed Andrew and asked when he'd be working while we were in the area and set up a day that we'd come in. I gave Andrew the price range I wanted to work within and he showed my son everything in his price range and helped him find the watch he chose, which wasn't a watch he thought he'd like before we went to the store and tried things on. I can honestly say that we were treated as well as a customer buying his second or third Rolex, each visit. Andrew is my now who my son will buy his future watches from. While in Charleston I decided to make my personal appearance to the local Rolex AD for the possibility to see if a non local could acquire a new Swiss time piece and folks I got same answer, NO! Well " NO " with a smile..... Well, I did get an option for a 36mm Rose Gold Rolex the watch nobody ever wants. Folks this is what they hang out as fodder for anyone not wise to the deception of ROLEX Authorized Dealers in hopes you feel lucky you could buy it. HOG WASH on that watch, I ain't buying it. Nothing quality for sale from the back room stash held out for favorite customers was offered either..... Over all the store was nice but nothing stellar. Rolex was pushed up front with maybe 2 dozen exhibition watches for show. Folks that means you can't have one if it says EXHIBITION on the tag... Now in the back was your lower modal options like OMEGA & TUDOR for consumers wanting anything.... I'm happy I ventured into DP DEMETRE Jewelers cause maybe one of my dream watches could be offered to me.. The salesman did complete me on my Rolex GMT I was wearing so I had that going for me. It's also one of the most beautiful buildings in Charleston as it used to be a former bank. The high ceilings, moulding details and amazing art just really sets this place apart from your boring regular shopping center jeweler - in addition to all the things mentioned above. It's always fun to go downtown and visit - even when not looking to purchase anything - as the people really make this place special and you feel like part of the family. (Lastly, being a local - and a regular customer - it's nice also that they recognize our loyalty and think of us when hard to find watches come available, as it should be. So I can't really saying I would recommend this business or not, I can really only go on my personal experience which was not good. I felt profiled and screened by the security guard and staff in general. We were visiting on vacation to Charleston and believe me I am very aware of the Rolex market situation, marketing, sales and business practices. I love watches and actually own several brands, including Rolex. How Rolex ADs treat certain customers is appalling and borderline discriminating. I am getting turned off by Rolex business practices even though they try to distance themselves from the behavior of certain ADs. There no way you are not aware of the business practices. The only way to combat this is to simply take your business and money elsewhere. How I was treated was unacceptable and resembles the current state of things. This location was no different and I was treated like trash. Love me there are other brands despite marketing wanting you to believe anything other than Rolex is unacceptable. I don't purchase luxury watches for prestige. I purchase because I love the craftsmanship and admire the mechanical movements. I'm not going to beg you to spend $15k! read more

I bought my first nice timepiece here on vacation. The staff was all so nice. One thing that I loved beyond their professionalism is it was a family place. I feel like there aren't many places like this that run through generations. I believe it's the grandfather, father, and son. Pretty cool. They had good watch selection. I remember seeing a good amount of Tudor, lots of Omegas, a ton of grand seiko's (so cool you don't see that many much), a few Rolex's (it's corona virus so there aren't many Rolex's anywhere), and a few other high end watch brands. Finally, it was time to have my new watch fitted. Jason took the lead, and Andrew executed Jason's instruction. They worked together like a well oiled machine. I had an odd experience here which ended great, hence the 5 stars. I took in 5 watches to get new batteries and one ring which needed beveling. The next day when I went in to get the watches, they told me that another male Shelby had come in and they had accidentally swapped our watches...yikes! I was honestly most surprised just to hear that another male Shelby existed. They told me they would get my watches back, which they did, and they didn't charge me for any of the batteries, they gave me a new strap on one that was worn, and they finished my ring for cheaper than they estimated.
