Nestled between riverside apartments the restaurant offers traditional French cuisine in a relaxed and informal setting. It markets itself as a cafe, bar, brassiere and private room. To be fair, it's a restaurant on the top floor and a nice bar on the lower level (perfect for reading the paper and relaxing). The private room isn't exactly massive, and has a glass partition, so it's not exactly 'private' per se, just slightly removed from the other diners. My partner had his 40th b.day here and it was a great success. The menu was tailor made, with all his favourite things: truffles, foie gras, confit of duck etc. I ate here a couple of weeks ago with my mum, her friend and my other half. Service was good, if a little slow at times. The place is very very French so don't expect to be hurried with your meal - this is about relaxing and taking your time. Similarly, the service, timing and pacing of your meal will reflect this. The wine list is MASSIVE, and I do mean massive. However, if the owner is about (Walter) he will be more than happy to guide you to a suitable choice. Prices aren't cheap, but the selection is superb. The menu changes daily and has been designed to appear like a newspaper front page. I had snails to start, and then salmon with sweet potato for main. The snails were delicious, swimming in melted butter (I daren't even begin to think about how many calories were in it) , they also had a deliciously earthy taste. Yum. The salmon was cooked well, and the sweet potato was fine, if well, a little watery. My fellow diners had similarly hit and misses with their choices, a mustard and tomato tart was disappointing, a veal main course was served luke warm and had to be sent back (not a problem, and it was dealt with quickly and didn't impact on our enjoyment one bit), foie gras starter for my other half was delicious with red onion jam. Just another note about the way the food is served. Everything is quite 'rustic' so don't be surprised if your food comes served in a large pot / pan / dish. It's a cute gimmick, but not essential. Although must be a nightmare for the poor waiting staff. Speaking of the waiting staff 100% of them are French and have varying levels of English. So do try and be patient or ask another server. I find it adds to the whole French experience! Anyhoo, Gazette is well worth a look if you're in the area. it's also a great place to go with friends for a group birthday / event as long as you're not wanting to hit the local nightclubs after (they're aren't any). The place can get a little rowdy with the right crowd there and also for big sporting events (especially involving the French) you'll find a large ex-pat community.

This phenomenal restaurant is situated on the Thames Walk, smack dab in the middle of Battersea. The unassuming building front has windows that face the water and an open air section with couch and chairs. I was lucky enough to secure a seat on the couch for my meal and stayed for hours watching the runners and dog walkers pass by as I indulged in some of the most incredible food I have eaten in London. I began my foodie adventure with the Smoked Salmon Tartare starter. I kicked myself repeatedly for not taking pictures, but it was so beautiful I had to dig right in. It tasted better than it looked (which was a feat) and this dish is a must have!!!! It was perfectly seasoned, formed into a work of art that transcended from the plate into the mouth and was absolutely the best dish I had eaten in four days (and I've eaten some pretty delicious food in London). Even better was the price - cheap by London standards with a healthy portion that made the price unbelievable at 8.50. My second course was the Avocado Salad listed under the Sharing section of the menu. Words cannot describe the perfect balance of this dish. Avocados chopped into bite-sized pieces, made perfect bedfellows with halved cherry tomatoes and red onions, smothered in a delectable sauce that was pure heaven. It was breathtaking! The chef here is a food artist on the highest level and should receive an award for his mastery. To take something so simple and create perfection is beyond belief. My final dish was the Charcuterie Board. Even this simple dish seemed to have stardust drizzled on the meats, bread, olives and pickles. They were fresh and delicious and thoroughly satisfying. One really unique aspect of this restaurant is that they have a large variety of unusual teas. They have about twenty teas that range from popcorn flavor to chocolate. You read that right, popcorn tea. What a perfect digestive - chocolate tea! Their alcohol menu is also diverse, with lots of wine and hard alcohol choices to please the masses. As for service, between Nick and Andrea, my glass was never empty and neither was my stomach. The food kept coming along and along and along. Their bread is freshly baked on site every day and the hearty chips are cut by hand. Hard work with deserving results. This hidden restaurant deserves lines of people around the corner waiting to sample the culinary artistry of this brilliant chef, beautiful views and outstanding service. If I could give them ten stars for one of the best restaurants in London, I would do so three times over. They also have a happy hour, so get there between 6 and 8 for a bit of a deal. Relaxed, upbeat and with a friendly atmosphere, you could go here on your own and will be looked after by the staff and will probably find someone to chat to at the bar. Food is well priced depending on what you order and is modern British in style. Offering brunches, lunches and dinner they can also look after a party for you if you wish and I think that it would be a great venue to "take over" with a birthday or special occasion and get all your friends along and make a real night of it.

The service is in general good, taking into account they all french and therefore not very popular for that reason. However most of them are very accommodating and polite. Once you become a regular costumer and they recognize you the service becomes better and they will definitely look after you well!
