Brown sugar pearl latte and passion pine green tea
    Rosalyn L.

Stopped by yesterday night, after hearing rave reviews from some friends for the longest time. It really does live up to the hype! We ordered 2 drinks from their top 10 list: Brown sugar latte with pearls and the Passion-pine green tea with coconut jelly added. Would definitely suggest getting the passion-pine at half or even light sweetness, as it was very sweet even at 75%. It also contains some passionfruit seeds, which I'll admit, scared me a little the first time I bit into one since it was so crunchy. Other than that, it was refreshing and fruity and nice to have after a rich meal. The brown sugar pearl latte is the most popular and I can see why! The pearls have a slightly different texture than other places - they're a little squishier and less hard to chew, if that makes sense? Has a sort of bounce to it, which I really liked. Will definitely be getting that again next time. They also have lots of other interesting flavours on their menu that intrigued me. Really looking forward to coming back and giving their other drinks a try! :)

Mr. Chu Tea and Coffee is located a 15 minute walk away from White Rock Pier. We ended up deciding to walk to it since it seemed so short of a distance until we realized we had to hike up a steep hill! The menu at Mr. Chu Tea and Coffee isn't a very large cafe but they have the basic milk teas, fruit teas, slushes, and special mix drinks. They also offer 6 different toppings including pearls, pudding, herbal jelly, coconut jelly and cream frothy. I tried their milk tea and fresh taro milk drink. It was pretty watery and wasn't a huge fan

I was attracted to this place as it is a standalone BBT shop and owned by a Taiwanese (Taiwan pride!). The shop is located few doors down from the infamous sushi shop called Taka's Sushi. The interior is cute and clean, albeit pretty small. There aren't many seats available if you wanted to come here and chat with your friends over BBT. I ordered the roasted oolong bubble tea, which was on their top 10 list. AT over $5 a drink, I had some expectations for the drink. The drink was ok but I didn't think it was worth the price. I could only taste very faint oolong tea in my drink. I had expected it to be richer, especially at the price they're charging. The pearls were also just ok. All in all, there wasn't anything wrong with the drink. It was delicious yes, but in my opinion, they shouldn't charge that much for this drink. I don't think the shop could survive if they came to Richmond....

I recon nowadays a cup of coffee could be up to $6, I might as well drive by for a cup of Mr. Chu which is less & it satisfy every needs. Normally, When I go for a Boba drink I will go for 30% sugar and less ice. I was surprised that I don't have to ask for less sugar or less ice. The drink is just right. I've also tried the mango slush... that's proper mango not the heavy artificial syrup. Definitely must try when you are in White Rock.

The best brown sugar bubble tea, worth the drive to White Rock. Not overly sweet, the perfect balance of dessert in your mouth. For those who are lactose intolerant, their tea series are fantastic as well. Clean and small shop with few tables inside, may have to wait outside.

We came here for bubble tea and decided to try their roasted oolong milk tea with pearls. We got our usual 25% sugar and less ice and it was not sweet at all which is how we like it. We did wish there was a bit stronger tea flavour but overall pretty good!

Brown Sugar Latté Pearls are DELICIOUS!

Mr. Chu Tea & Coffee is a cute and cozy bubble tea café that opened up a few months ago. The interior is modern and chic with it's concrete like walls and wooden tables. The menu has a good selection of drinks but not too overwhelming either. You can choose from Milk Teas, Special Mixes, Fruit Teas, Slushes and Hot Drinks. This café offers ice and sugar preferences and whether you want a drink hot or cold as well. We ordered a Brown Sugar Latté with Pearls (less ice, sweetness is fixed) and a Roasted Oolong Bubble Tea with Pearls (less ice, 70% sweetness). We waited about 5 minutes and our drinks popped up on the counter by the friendly staff. The Brown Sugar Latté with Pearls was super pretty with the dark golden brown sugar syrup that switled itself down the side of the cup and mixed and mingled itself between the creamy milk. The pearls were still super warm and I initially didn'y mix it, so the pearls were super sweet and saturated with brown sugar. Once mixed, the warm pearls and the cool, creamy milk were a luxurious match made in heaven! I understand the Brown Sugar Milk craze now!!! This is my first time so I have nothing to compare but the pearls were on a level of softness, chewiness and sweetness that I have never had before and with the warmness too - hands down, BEST PEARLS EVER! SERIOUSLY! The Roasted Oolong Bubble Tea with Pearls had a really pleasant roasted flavour of the oolong tea. Milky and smooth and the pearls had a subtle sweetness and familiar chewiness as well. It was a good amount of sweetness for 70% - they don't overdo it with the sugar here, which is great! Overall, super thrilled with the appearance of another bubble tea shop, especially when they have this Brown Sugar Latté drink that I can have anytime without those silly timed released option like other shops. I can't wait to try other drinks, but I'm seriously addicted to the Brown Sugar Latte with Pearls here! I'm in love and all for the low price of $5.55! They accept credit cards and have 3 tables to sit and enjoy your drinks. On Sundays they offer some hot food items as well like chicken and smoked salmon sandwiches! Free street parking available as well. Note: They are closed on Mondays!

Mango slush with pearls and coconut jelly

Great bubble spot with a variety of choices! I got honey milk tea and it was very delicious. The flavor is really crisp with soft chewy pearls/pudding. My boyfriend got mango slush and it was decent. It tastes like mango syrup rather than freshly blended mangoes, which I'm not too fond of. I also tried the fresh grapefruit green tea and it was very refreshing. There's two large slices of grapefruit inside, lots of ice and a third of the cup is filled with a topping (coconut jelly) so there wasn't much liquid to drink. Must try if you're in the white rock area. Perfect on a sunny day.

    Strawberry Slush w/ Pearls

Visiting White Rock, I chose to come here because I was drawn in by the pretty colours in the strawberry slush on the menu and suddenly had to try it. My impulse decision treated me well - not only was my drink as pretty as the menu photo, it also tasted heavenly. Where I was waiting I had a pretty good view of them making the drinks, and it seems like the only ingredients are strawberries and cream, and as a result the flavours come through very clearly. The fruit slushes are also topped with fresh fruit which is a nice treat at the end but a bit of a challenge to eat because there are no forks or anything in the shop. I managed to fish them out with my straw, so no harm done. I also really like their pearls as they achieve the right balance between soft and chewy and didn't clump - for whatever reason whenever I drink icy drinks the pearls always seem to clump together but that wasn't a problem here! The price of the drink was pretty reasonable. The slush including topping was $6 which is competitive with similar drinks (at least in Vancouver, can't speak for prices in White Rock!) and the cup is huge. For me the size and quality justify the price. The interior of the shop is nice but it is on the small side. If I remember correctly they had one medium sized table and two smaller tables plus a bench. It seems to get a lot of business so if you're going here I wouldn't count on having sitting room.

Friendly service and beautiful interior. This bubble tea shop is very small with only three tables. I like how they use real fruits in their drinks. The drinks themselves are quite good, but the pearls were a tad soft. We prefer pearls that are chewier. Prices are reasonable around $4-5.50 per drink. They also have some sandwich options too!

Traditional Bubble Tea, I came here twice. Better taste than Chaitime. Will definitely visit. Best stop after Taka Sushi

    Grapefruit bubble tea
    Mandy C.

An authentic bubble tea place with a lot of heart and love in the drink. The one I tried was grapefruit bubble tea. It has SOOOOOO MUCH grapefruit in it. Every zip you can taste real grapefruit bits! I had it at 70% sugar and it's just right to balance sweetness and the natural sourness from grapefruit. Can't say enough good thing about this drink. The other one we had was the black sugar pearl milk. For the price, you cannot get the same portion and still have good taste outside at others places at all! Too bad it's in white rock, if not, I will visit way more often!
