We ordered the Crispy Chicken Burger and the Ricotta Pancakes. We've had Ricotta Pancakes at a number of places & of course understand it will be different everywhere, but for context, we have some understanding of the type of pancakes they should taste like.
However, these didn't taste great at all. Not even "OK". After a couple of bites, I passed them to my partner to see if it was something he could eat. He also had a couple of bites and also couldn't eat anymore. They were too soggy with the warm strawberry jus (the consistency was not like what jus should be - it was runny like water and filled the bottom of the bowl like a shallow broth), the taste of pancake was a little off too. The cut strawberries on top were not fresh - either frozen or freeze-dried and tasted a little plastic. The only redeeming quality about it was the presentation.
The Chicken Burger was good - the size was decent and could be shared between two people, which we ended up having to do since the pancakes were unedible.
We've actually never disliked a meal this much to say something so when the waiter came at the end to pick up our plates, we decided to tell him we didn't like the pancakes and couldn't eat them. His rebuttle was that we should have mentioned this as soon as he put the plate down so he could replace it, yet this was the first time we were addressed after the meals were put down (the place was busy and no one had come back to ask if our food was ok - though we know some places don't do that at all). We also had to take the first few bites first to taste it too, which doesn't happen as soon as the plates are presented, so his argument was a little flawed. Since we couldn't eat it, we asked if it was something taken off our bill. He seemed very inconvenienced and made us feel like it was our fault that the food tasted bad.
When we went to pay, he only took $5 off the meal, which means we still paid for two thirds of the cost of something we could not eat. He didn't say thank you, had no smile and had very poor customer service for feedback that customers should feel comfortable giving. read more
