Update in July 2015 Mr. Hui is practically the only restaurant that we go for Chinese food. Some food is better than other. I still think the food is quite authentic. A sign of good Chinese restaurant is how many Chinese people are eating at the establishment. (This applies to all ethnic food restaurant, I think.) This place is always packed with Chinese students. Still Good in 2014. I just had Mr. Hui's Hot and Sour Soup as take-out for my lunch. It is flavorful, and lots of stuff in the soup. It is called Seafood Hot and Sour Food, so there are squid, shrimp and mock club meats. Yum. If they have good hot and sour soup, they have a hope! I will try more food there and update my review. Better than most Chinese in Lincoln, but that's not saying much. I might come here again. I might not. I ordered the Crazy Spicy Chicken but acidentally left with the wrong order. I don't know what I ended up eating, but it was okay. I had to add a lot of Sriracha to it at home to give it some flavor. I don't like that they mound the food on top of the rice. Ladies and Gentlemen, I have found my local Chinese restaurant! Finally, after living in Lincoln for a year and a half. I tried Mr. Hui's on a recommendation and I'm sure glad I did. We ordered carry out. The Egg Drop soup, which wasn't too special, but alright. The Crab Wontons are really delicious and not too greasy. My husband enjoyed the steamed dumplings and Generals Tso's Chicken. The bite of his chicke that I tried wasn't overly breaded. The sauce was a good blend of sweet and spicy. Mr. Hui's has become my favorite place to get Chinese food in Lincoln. They offer both Americanized Chinese dishes and more authentic dishes that many may not have tried before. They have lunch specials which provide plenty of food for the price, easily coming in under $10, and a large dinner menu with dishes that range from just under $10 to a few dollars over. I've never found a bad dish here, and I've tried a variety of both Americanized and authentic. When restaurants have such large and varied menus, a diner can usually expect average quality across the board with a few dishes that stand out. Not so here. Everything tastes fresh and vibrant, whether you're eating an Americanized or authentic dish. I think everyone can find something they'll really like here. Service is always competent and everyone keeps themselves busy. Not everyone speaks the best English, but it's more than enough to get by and any questions diners have are easily answered. The place is clean and feels slightly upscale while maintaining a casual atmosphere. Depending on your luck, Mr. Hui's can be almost dead or packed to the gills. Food always comes out to the table quickly unless the place is really hopping, and even then the wait isn't bad. Chinese food in Lincoln doesn't get any better than Mr. Hui's. I've given some good reviews to other Chinese restaurants, and I do like them and still go, but this place is easily the best. I get the feeling the chefs keep high standards, use good ingredients, and care about the quality of each dish. Mr. Hui's used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant in Lincoln. I had been telling everyone about it and I know of at least two people who had gone to check it out because of that. Unfortunately the last time we ordered from there it was terrible. Of the three carryout dishes we ordered, one was good, one was bad and one was inedible and had to be thrown away. The sweet and sour chicken we got was good. The crunchy squid was highly overseasoned and borderline inedible but I choked it down anyway because I don't like to waste food. The orange chicken however was a total tragedy. I've had it from Mr. Hui's before and it was excellent, this time it tasted totally different. I'm not sure what they did to it but it had to be thrown in the garbage. Strangely this time it didn't have peppers in it either which of course it should as it did before and is listed as one of their spicy dishes. I told a friend about this and he said that he had recently tried it based on my recommendation and was highly disappointed. The English language may at times present difficulties when interacting with the staff, but it also creates great moments in Lincoln culture such as the crowdsource-translated sign in the men's bathroom. The original message gave ambiguous instructions, something like 'Please do not flush paper in sink' or something else similarly nonsensical but obviously related to bathroom etiquette that was written by a non-native English speaker. Over the years the many fine patrons improved the translation to such gems as "Do not flush toilet paper in the turd aquarium. Recently this landmark of Lincoln Asian Cuisine was removed. Since this was a new restaurant in the area, I thought I would give it a try as our other favorite Asian restaurant seems to have come under new management and changed what we liked. Food was still good after moving to Mr. Hiu's 2 we thought a visit was back in order. But we will not be dining at this establishment again simply for the fact the bathrooms had no soap. We asked the manager to get some soap for my son, he said he would but ignored us. Went back to use the bathroom at the end of the meal still no soap. Asked the manager why, he explained they had run out in the entire place and the owner would buy some more on Monday. Well it's 1pm on Sunday mate and you have an entire day of work to do. Best Chinese food in Lincoln that I've tasted so far- all of the dishes my friends and I ordered were on point. Some were a tad bit too oily or could do with just a bit more flavor but I'm willing to let it slide. The staff is helpful and courteous. We had great, friendly service. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is casual. Parking is very convenient. I have been to this restaurant twice and have tried different items each time. The first time I asked the waitress to recommend a spicy authentic dish for me and, after taking her advice, I had a great meal. Tonight I had the crispy salty squid and it was fantastic!
