Very fresh and delicious vegetarian summer rolls with a great sauce. My husband enjoyed his salt and pepper shrimp and veggie pho very much!!!! Our biggiest gratitude for the owner at this restaurant to wait on us until after hours because we had a long day driving around the wrong (for us Americans) side of the road all day trying to figure out where to park. Mr. Nam is a Vietnamese restaurant serving up Vietnamese food and drinks in Sydney, Australia close to the Airport. We decided to get some food before a long day of exploring the beautiful city of Sydney and ended up here for pho and a rice plate. The restaurant offers many dishes such as noodle soups, banh xeo, and your traditional rice plates. We went ahead and placed our order with the cashier and found a seat. The food came out fairly quick and i couldnt wait to dive in. The first thing I noticed was the pho broth to noodles ratio was overhelming. I personally think there was just way to much broth for that size of bowl. The noodles were your flat type and they were cooked perfectly to the tooth. The broth was okay and all of the aromatics of the cinnamon, star anise, and cloves were easily noticed. I went ahead and topped it off with crisp bean sprouts, a squirt of a juicy lemon wedge, and Thai basil. The next dish I ate was the grilled pork chop with rice. The dish looked beautifully presented along with the side salad which consisted of green leaf lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and shredded carrots. The star of the show was the fried egg on top of the grilled pork chop. The egg was perfectly cooked and was oozing when I sliced into it to eat the pork. The pork chop had noticably large amounts of fresh lemon grass marinated into the meat which was a great thing. The pork was mainly bone vice meat on the slab they gave me. The rice was soft and moist and tasted great with the fish sauce poured everywhere. Mr. Nam is a great Vietnamese restaurant to go and eat some quick but yet tasty food. I returned to Sydney Australia for a day in September 2018. I needed a day to travel from Auckland, New Zealand and finally to fly home to Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. During that time, I decided to find a Vietnamese restaurant near the Sydney airport area. I was casually checking off having Pho in different countries, now that I had completed having Pho in all of the 50 United States of America. With that goal done, it was on a mission to do countries now. Australia now is #4 with this visit to Mr Nam Vietnamese restaurant in Sydney, Australia. It was a great location, since it was about 750 meters away from my hotel and close enough to the airport, where I could call and Uber and be at here for lunch after arrival from flying in from Auckland, NZ earlier that day. I arrived here around 11:30am and it was neat to come to a semi full restaurant. The restaurant itself was small yet not like a restaurant, but a respite from the outside world. Only thing though, you would need to purchase the order up front like a fast food counter first, then sit down. I made the mistake of sitting down like a regular restaurant, but one of the staff helped me fixed that and I was good to go. For the most part though, the ambiance was nice and chill. Quiet and nice helped set the mood for the rest of the meal and the day. It was nice to have pho while in Sydney, Australia. At least a more real authentic Pho, than in Auckland, New Zealand. The overall experience here at Mr Nam Vietnamese restaurant was good and decent. Average and good at the same time for me. It was kind of like a fast food restaurant at times, but they served Vietnamese fare and Pho was one of its specialties of the house. The restaurant itself seems set up like a bar, but it probably was rebranded from a bar at some part or another, I assume. It was clean and quite nice. The restaurant wasn't full when I was there and I ended up getting a table near the back of the restaurant, near the back window and kitchen. Mr Nam Vietnamese restaurant is located at 8 Bourke Street in Mascot, New South Wales. It's basically a 5 minute Uber ride from the Sydney international airport, which I ended up doing to get here for lunch on a crisp Monday morning. They accept major credit cards, which is always a good things, as well as cash. I'm not sure how the parking situation is around the restaurant, but I assume that there is street parking nearby for everyone and anyone who wants. There's always Uber / Lyft, if you need that service to get here. I probably spent about 45 minutes here from start to finish here. The service was as good as you can get - as far as fast food counters goes. For the most part though, I got the fresh rolls and the combination Pho, which turned out to be a fun and delicious meal while in Sydney. I would say that if you are in Sydney waiting for a flight out and you got a large layover, consider coming here and getting your Pho fix. It would be a great homespun meal to satisfy yourself as you get ready for your next flight overseas somewhere. The prices were good and competitive. I think I spent about $20 AU on the meal, which is decent, I guess. The Pho was good and delicious, of course. It was awesome to have put a check mark on Australia for a Pho country. The fresh rolls were a delight as well. I think they prepared it fresh. Although it was served cold, it didn't taste like it was prepared previously and refrigerated/frozen till requested. For me though, while this place doesn't seem like a restaurant restaurant, it is a quick stop for a great bowl of authentic made Pho in the airport district of Sydney Australia. I would recommend coming here, if you are in the area. Thumbs up! If you are flying, consider coming here before you depart or after arriving. It's made for you! Cute, clean, communal restaurant with friendly staff. Beef pho cost $13 and was a huge serving with good proportions of all ingredients; the beef chunks were large, thin and tender and there were oodles of noodles which were super silky. Crispy, hot pork and prawn spring rolls come in 3's for $7. Great interior with small tables for 2 or larger tables for groups. Restaurant is situated across from Mascot train station though parking is a bit tricky as most streets surrounding are one way. Cheap, easy and comforting! read more

Went to Mr Nam on the advice of a foodie friend. It is a Vietnamese restaurant with a range of vermicelli salads, rice paper rolls, and pho. Cool fit out and Love the art on the wall. I ordered the lemongrass beef rice paper rolls (no mint as i don't like it) and they were freshly made and very nice. Hubby got the combination with lemongrass beef, chicken, pork sausage Vermicelli salad that came with carrot, cucumber and a nice fish sauce. It was extremely good value for $16 and it was delicious. I ordered Pho Tai and Goi Cuon. I would say pretty average overall. Nothing specific to criticize. The experience just wasn't memorable. I'm also keeping in mind that maybe this restaurant is merely catering to Australian tastes/preferences which may be different to the US. I'm saying this because I tried Pho in Melbourne and Townsville, with similar results. The common factor is the soft noodles. I prefer the noodles to be more firm. Not bad but not good Vietnamese restaurant walking distance from the Holiday Inn by the Sydney Airport. Cannot compared to Garden Grove, CA Vietnamese restaurant at all but it will do for now that we are away from home. The portion are very small so expect to order two plates to fill you up or at least an appetizer and a main course. read more

Great Vietnamese food. Nothing like it near by so if you're looking for something light, fresh and flavoursome I would definitely recommend a visit. The venue is quite small though and gets extremely packed during lunch and nice nights. Try the pho and pork chop with rice! And for drinks you can't go past a traditional Vietnamese coffee!! read more
