I had a problem with my water softener and contacted Mr. Rooter. The next morning Austin was dispatched to my home and he looked at it, we talked about options which included a whole new softener at great expense. Austin suggested he give the repair a try first and if it didn't work we would explore the next option but he did it!!! He persevered and got it working again which I was so thrilled with. He is so professional and knowledgeable and friendly. I was very happy with the service and his attention to details. Obviously I was absolutely pleased with only having to spend the smaller amount of money . We experienced issue with a kitchen sink drain that was plugged or frozen. After 2 hours of snaking the drain which we had already tried, the technician was unable to locate the cause of the blockage and was not able to resolve it with the the tools he had. He also could not resolve issue with assistance of manager he contacted by phone. We were charged full price $575 for services that did not resolve the issue. We were provided other services that we didn't ask for such as sending a camera down the main line. However, they could not send a camera down the problem drain. We resolved the issue on our own a day later by using hot water injected into the problem drain. Very expensive bill for no resolution and not providing any viable options other than to open holes in the walls. I cannot recommend this company. read more

I can't express how grateful and happy I was with the service Mr. Rooter preformed. Previous to their visit we had a different drain co. technician visit and after working on drain said it was most likely going to mean jackhammering till we found problem in our finished basement. Decided to get a second opinion as I did not feel real confident with the tech. Mr. Rooter dispatch was so pleasant and sent Konrad out to investigate. He actually got through the problem with very little effort and put us at easy. He was punctual, very neat and tidy and also did free plumbing inspection. Had a sudden backup of the main sewer line in our basement at 630am. Mr. Rooter had the best ratings so I called them first. Got an appointment for 1pm and the plumber was prompt and had the issue handled in under an hour. I had a clogged sink and no matter what I did or used it did not help. Wasted my money on Drano that did nothing in standing water. Mr. Rooter offered me next day service free of charge for the inspection (unlike some other places) and finalized pricing before I agreed. There was a bit of confusion as the repairman and receptionist had no idea about the $25 Yelp discount (awesome by the way) until I showed it to him online. Also guaranteed his work for 30 days. I don't mind if others tell me that they're expensive. Like Johnny F said, it's all about peace of mind! You can buy a membership from them and you and all your relatives can use their special rates if they need a plumber. Customer service/dispatch also gives you a two to three hour window (as well as a call on the day of) so that you know when they're coming. Recently, we had a clogged standpipe behind our washing machine downstairs and didn't know whether it was due to tree roots or just debris/lint/hair. Initially, the plumber used the scope down the main sewer line to determine if there were any tree roots obstructing the line. He eventually had had to use the snake in both cleanouts to flush it out all the grimy buildup from the kitchen sink and washing machine. In the end, he only charged me for the scope (and labour). read more

The pipe leading into our hot water tank had a pin hole that was causing some pretty significant water leakage in our utility room. Josh called when he said that he would, he arrived on time and was completely professional and knowledgeable. He was honest and helpful and made me feel that I was in good hands. We've used Mr. Rooter a few times - from semi-emergencies to regular maintenance. The first thing you notice is the way they handle the visit. They give you an approximate time (last time we called it was a 2 hour window) followed by a call with a more precise time (last time it was 30 minute warning). This is great as you do not have sit aournd all day waiting, you just have to be reasonably close to home. The last time we called it was to get a tap replaced. The plumber told us it would cost too much if he did it, told us how to do it ourselves for no charge. We also used Mr. Rooter to replace our hot water tank and are very satisified. The work was done as promised, no mess left behind, the plumber was very pleasant. read more

We have had mixed experiences with Mr. Rooter. When we had a sewer backup emergency a few months ago, Mr. Rooter was fairly responsive, helped us within a day of calling them, and gave us excellent emergency service. So, when we needed to replace our sewer line, we called Mr Rooter again. Mr. Rooter booked us for a scoping of the line so we would know exactly how much the line replacement would be and told us that they would call an hour before arrival. The day of the booking (a day my husband took off work so someone would be around to let the Mr Rooter person in the house), no one from Mr. Rooter showed up at the appointed time and no one called to say they wouldn't be coming. My husband finally chased down someone at the office and an hour after the scheduled appointment window, found out Mr Rooter was cancelling the appointment as there was an emergency they prioritized ahead of us. So we booked another day and my husband took another day off work. Mr. Rooter's office called at the scheduled time of that appointment (not before!) to let us know they had another emergency and they were cancelling that day's appointment. This morning was appointment number 3. Can't believe it but Mr. Rooter called 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment time to let us know the appointment would be "delayed" (when to was uncertain) as there was another emergency that took priority over us. After 2 last-minute cancellations and 1 "delay", my husband told Mr Rooter he won't take any more time off to wait in vain for someone from the company to show up and we will be using another company to do our sewer line replacement. We are very disappointed that the company was not more reliable - one cancelled appointment was understandable, 2 cancelled appointments and "a delay of unknown length" really made us worry about contracting more serious work with them! read more

We were very pleased and satisfied with the service from Mr. Rooter and the quality and competency of the plumbers. From booking the appointment to same day service, the interactions and professionalism of the plumbers was excellent. We had a few issues and each time, the plumbers explained the problem and the solution. No solicitation of products, just information based on our needs. They kept everything tidy and cleaned up after themselves, almost as if they weren't even there. Costs were upfront and no surprises in the end. WHAT A SCAM! We had Mr. Rooter come in to evaluate a plugged kitchen sink drain, when we called to get an idea of the cost depending on what the problem was the story was you had to pay for a service call and then the service technician would give you a firm quote. After evaluation the quote was $622 which we basically had to accept unless we wanted to start the process all over again. I checked with Roto Rooter today and the equivalent work the job would have cost between $275 & $400. Save yourself some money and contact Roto Rooter instead! read more

First time calling the plumber and I wasn't sure what to expect. Mr Rooter scheduled me in and a service plumber was there 48 hours later. They don't charge by the hour, but instead they have a book with a bunch of different prices laid out for each specific problem. If you just have a quick fix that will take 2 hours or less (plugged sink) than maybe call another company that charges buy the hour and you will save some significant cash. I had a problem with the drainline on my toilet and shower in my basement and the plumber ended up working on it for 5-6 hours and it cost me $450. If I had gone with an hourly company (who usually charge $150/hr) then it would have been considerably more, so Mr Rooter was the right call in this situation. Their minimum charge seemed to be about $325, so it's good to know for next time. The tech was there for most of the day and we were able to stick the camera down the hole several times to see ensure that the blockage was gone because we werent bothered by time constraints. The also have a patented biological drain cleanser that costs $60 a bottle, but seems to do the trick...not to mention that it extends the warranty of their work by 60 days if you buy it. In the future I will be calling them again for any medium to large jobs....they would have gotten 5 stars if their prices were a bit lower, but sometimes it's worth a little more to have peace of mind. read more
