He has grown so much over the last two years and his experience has been nothing but joyous. He loved marching into daycare each day and it was clear that he learned a lot and that they really cared for him. Home Sweet Home daycare switched midway through our time there to using an app called brightwheel which made communication and payments easy. We were also able to see almost daily pictures of what our son was up to on their Instagram. They accommodated every request we had and we are sincerely grateful for the experience we had with them. My son just graduated Zusin after 2 years, and the change between day one, and where the kid is at…read moregraduation, is astronomical. My kid was six months when he started. Couldn't walk or talk or anything. Now he poops in the toilet all by himself and uses words like delicious and floss. Insane. What a journey. I remembering hugging all his teachers for the last time. We were all crying. So much love flowing that day. Not to mention, gratitude. That's what I felt the deepest. Sadness and loss for sure. But mostly, I felt thankful. Because what the heck would we have done without childcare? We never would have made it. I cannot believe our good fortune, both in being able to afford daycare, but also having loving teachers who were really good at their jobs. It's funny, I was thinking about the old phrase, "good help is hard to find."No it's not. Good help is as abundant as the sun. Care is not a scarce commodity. Competent people are not rare, unreliable or hiding somewhere. What's hard to find is our own ability to recognize it, afford it, access it, trust it, accept it, and acknowledge how much of our lives depend on it. The transformation my son underwent during those two years? It's not a miracle. It's thousands of tiny acts performed by caring people. Meals served. Diapers changed. Tears soothed. Words repeated. Shoes tied. Conflicts mediated. Naps negotiated. Bodies protected. We applied to our daycare during the second trimester, got on the waiting list, and the day he turned six months, we sent him to school. And now he's like a real person. So what I feel right now is mostly gratitude. We hit the lottery. I wanted to sing Zusin's praises, quite literally. So I wrote a song about them. I am blown away when my toddlers come home and know not just their colors but their colors in English and spanish, or when they learn all about the food pyramid and healthy nutrition, or how to paint laying down like Michelangelo, or all of the fun things they learn through their "science experiments".... If you care about your child having a well rounded PreK experience that is family oriented, communicative, caring, trustworthy and truly cares about community this is hands down your best option in Lyndhurst...we tried other schools and looked at other options and I feel so blessed that this is where we ended up. I will never be able to thank Ms. Lore and Mr. J enough for what they have done for my kids. My son was developmentally behind when starting here two years ago and this staff has been so inclusive, understanding and his biggest cheerleaders in all the progress he has made. I regret having to write this review, as a value supporting good business. But my sons experience…read morehere was far from what Dionne sold us on. On the first day of us meeting she mentioned that parents had access to cameras so that we could check in on our child being that he was first starting at the daycare. When I asked about it after enrolling him, she told me she didn't have the money to have them on because she didn't have enough students. Most of the days my son was alone. When I inquired about where the other children were, she responded with defensiveness. Bringing up pre-Covid numbers when in reality, they were very few children enrolled at her daycare. She also wouldn't allow us to show up unannounced, we needed to give her a heads up so that she could prepare. Which in my experience isn't right. Leads me to believe that she was hiding something. None of this would have been a problem wouldn't be a problem if the communication was clear and thorough. Whenever asked questions about what my son would do throughout the day it was met with aggravation and defensiveness she treated me and other family members who inquired with similar questions with the same level of distain. Her excuse was that she has several children and has been in this business for several years. I have never met a woman who works with children, who is so offended by a parents concern about their child. I have also never met a woman who works in childcare that views crying children as a problem, she was not solution oriented instead thought that a child, crying with an inconvenience to her business. There were several days where she had very limited information about what went on during our sons time at the daycare. She employed her children as well, who were also very unprofessional. There were many days where I rang the doorbell and was waiting outside with my baby and under 30° weather for 5-10 minutes, the reason being no one heard the doorbell, that is a hazard. Every time she answered the door she was on the phone as well. The children were kept in a dark room with the television on. she led me to believe that she was doing work on the rest of her house to open up the space so the children had room to play and move. That never happened either. All communication was done via text. One week she took off and close the daycare because it was her birthday and this was done last minute. This is supposed to be a family day care, and there is no professionalism warmth or familial energy at all. Save your money and your time!
