I thought my life was over; it was just pain and suffering. Desperate for help, I traveled up and down the east coast consulting with different specialists at big name institutions, all to no avail. I had pretty much given up and was in a very dark place, but with my last drop of hopeful ambition I did one more search using different key words, and suddenly Dr. Ocasio popped up at the top of my screen... Did I just stumble upon a miraculous godsend right here on Long Island?! In case you don't feel like reading a long review, the short answer is YES, I DID! And if you're reading this, it means you have too! And do not let anything stop you from making the appointment that will change your life! When I first met Dr. Ocasio, he gave me hope at a time when I had just about run out. But then, being under his care, he has actually been giving me my life back, piece by piece. Leading into my first appt, I had been bedridden on disability for over 2 years after my surgery. I couldn't even take care of myself, let alone do anything I enjoyed. But over the last year and a half with Dr. Ocasio, I started having more good days, found new ways to treat and manage my symptoms, regained my independence, grew stronger and started to feel like myself again. I'm not exaggerating when I say that he restored my will and desire to LIVE, and gave me back a life worth living. This man is a unicorn of the healthcare industry! Again, not exaggerating, I have literally NEVER received this level of care and attentiveness anywhere. He spends so much time with me at each appt, always thoughtful and never rushing. He brainstorms different potential routes we could take and discusses them in-depth. He thinks outside the box and approaches things from every angle, treating the whole patient and the underlying problems, not just the pain symptoms. He's the only doctor I've ever had who also talks to me about nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, sleep, etc. And he seems to have endless ideas, so if plan 'A' isn't the cure-all, there's still a whole alphabet to work through. What I usually say about my own situation is that we didn't find a miracle cure for my symptoms, but everything we did chipped away at them like 3-5% at a time... but now when you add it all up, the difference is huge! At the beginning, I was worried about Dr. Ocasio being out of network with my insurance, but his office is amazing at coordinating my out of network benefits and making it possible for me to continue receiving this top tier care that only they provide. And the truth is that Dr. Ocasio wouldn't be able to be his unicorn self if he was shackled by the constraints of large institutions and insurance companies. Unicorns can only exist in out-of-network private practice, so thank goodness that's what North Shore Headache & Spine is! In addition to Dr. Ocasio himself, everyone working in this office is exceptionally wonderful. They're so friendly, helpful, warm and just all around lovely. And - not that it matters, but gotta give props where they're due - everybody who works here is beautiful and the office itself is super nice with very cool decor. So TLDR: North Shore Headache & Spine is basically the last bastion of human goodness and superior patient care, Dr. Ocasio is a miracle worker in a class of his own, and I'm forever grateful that he saved (and continues to save) my life.

After a very thorough evaluation and exams he was able to identify the specific nerves that were involved and developed a treatment plan that has effectively managed my pain. Medical excellence would have been enough to satisfy me but Dr. Ocasio and his staff are unusually thorough, patient and understanding as well. Dr.Ocasio is one of the best doctors I have ever met. Some nursing homes were clean, others were dirty and had a pervasive stench. Before you select a facility for your loved one you MUST visit several. DON'T visit just one. You need to make comparisons. You want the best so visit at least 4 or 5 nursing homes. Check their reviews online. The staff might clue you in. If they do and they suggest that you look elsewhere DON'T rat them out as they may be doing you a BIG favor and they need their job! Good luck!

She was very short with me, as I had a lot of questions. She told me I had to come in for a visit to "truly learn about the facility". I agreed reluctantly as I needed to find an establishment for someone I hold near and dear. The grounds appeared to be well maintained. There were a few residents sitting outside the entrance. Most of them seemed like they didn't know what was going on. What disturbed me is that no one was monitoring them. There might have been cameras outside, but in my opinion, that's insufficient. What if someone had a problem or worse yet, what if someone had a medical emergency? I know I'm speculating, but it gave me an uneasy feeling. This is all before entering the facility. Upon entering, I was checked in. The young man at the front desk seemed annoyed that he had to do his job. The lady that conducted the tour was polite, but she seemed completely disinterested. She was not able to answer most of my questions. She said someone from a different department would contact me, which never happened. We passed by a lot of rooms that looked very dirty from merely glancing in as I walked by. Linens were strewn about the rooms and there were a lot of carts with dirty food trays and plates on them. A lot of the residents were sitting in the hallways or wheeling themselves around. Patients were crying in the rooms and being ignored. The nurses were at their stations laughing loudly and ignoring their responsibilities. At this point I saw enough. Needless to see, I did not opt for this establishment. Also, if you or your loved one needs wound care they will not accept admittance. This was an overall bad experience. Go elsewhere.

He chucked a metal medical cart against the wall in the operating room and stormed out because i got upset that they said they weren't sedating me for an epidural also the anesthesiologist administered a drug that was noted on my chart that i have bad reaction to and they gave that to me and he got angry that I was moving around. Yet that drug they used is what makes me irritable and makes me move around. I will be sending this information to the state. Do not let this man with an ego ever touch your spine. I can't imagine what the staff and other patients have to deal with I feel terrible for all of them. What a terrible "man" he is. I've seen toddlers with more respect and better tempers than him.
