The course is beautiful, with a manageable front and long back 9 (6500 yrs) from the middle tees. The course is open and even high handicap golfers will not lose many balls; there are really only a few spots on the course that are truly out of bounds. The staff is typically very friendly, Jeremy who manages the bag room is particularly nice. The pros are all great too. The whole place is well maintained, as they do host PGA (junior/womens) events from time to time. The greens play very fast towards the end of summer, and some of them slope in ways that will really frustrate anyone. Price-wise, the place is on the upper end if you have no college affiliation (about 140 or so) but is exceptionally cheap for students (35 dollars) so definitely a place to visit if you are in the area and still in school. The course truly cannot be recommended enough, and it offers some exceptional views of both the Williams College campus and the surrounding areas.

Biggest complaint is that most greens had been aerated and had customary sand throughout. But due to greens not being rolled there were small tufts of grass patches on a number of them. This made putting them quite unpleasant. I'd certainly play here again when greens are in better shape. A discount should have been offered for the shape they were in today.

Then onto the course, just a 10 minute interval between groups on a very difficult course meant three or four groups on every hole. The friendly rangers were useless except for telling the all-female groups to keep up. For $135 a round, we deserved better but it was so slow we quit after the 12th hole. Never going back. Had a much better experience at Stratton the next day.

Currently playing there are 10-12 groups on 3 holes. Looking close to 4 hours to play 9 - YES. 4 hours to play 9 holes. And out of all the golf courses in the area this is the most expensive one with 4 or 5 fairways dug up as seen in the picture. It's fine if you want to put drainage in but don't charge me full price when the course is under construction.

I don't know Bob Kennedy and perhaps he was just having a bad day, but he was very confrontational and short tempered with me and his staff. He made up one excuse after another as to why we couldn't use the gift card and why he wouldn't give us a store credit for 2 more rounds with a cart considering there was only 2 of us that day. Not only was he a very stand-off-ish person; he made an already painfully slow round even worse when he sent out not 1 but 2 groups to cut us off on the turn. Round took over 5 hours. Can't see us ever going back again.

I live in the south now and forgot how much work it is to golf in the mountains. I'm using that as an excuse for how many balls I lost, and not an indicator of how poorly I played at all. Just kidding. I suck. We all had fun though, and although the scores may not reflect it, we had a great day together and the weather was amazing and we made many memories to be shared for years.
