What a beautiful little hidden venue. I came here for a Bridal Shower over the weekend and I am so surprised I never heard about the place. Absolutely stunning venue for a shower or a wedding. I loved the building, a lot of parking, the banquet rooms, nice bar, gorgeous back patio and outside bar, nice lighting, great windows to view the well maintained course. Even the bathrooms were very nice! The Shower was a brunch style with good mimosas and decent food. It was all breakfast food, which may have been a cheaper option, who knows. It did have super good potatoes. The service seems very good with a decent number of servers assigned to the event. The place is a little far out of the way for me, but if you were looking in the area for an event venue, this is a pretty nice spot! read more

Never coming back. I always try coming here at least once a year and it's always the same. Premium price for a course that's a mess. Long wait on the tee every hole. Currently playing there are 10-12 groups on 3 holes. Looking close to 4 hours to play 9 - YES. 4 hours to play 9 holes. And out of all the golf courses in the area this is the most expensive one with 4 or 5 fairways dug up as seen in the picture. It's fine if you want to put drainage in but don't charge me full price when the course is under construction. read more

Had a terrible experience at Van Patten last week. Had an old gift card for a foursome with carts that we won at a scramble. I don't know Bob Kennedy and perhaps he was just having a bad day, but he was very confrontational and short tempered with me and his staff. He made up one excuse after another as to why we couldn't use the gift card and why he wouldn't give us a store credit for 2 more rounds with a cart considering there was only 2 of us that day. Not only was he a very stand-off-ish person; he made an already painfully slow round even worse when he sent out not 1 but 2 groups to cut us off on the turn. Round took over 5 hours. Can't see us ever going back again. read more

The course was in poor shape, and the carts were barely working. We had a cart die on the 3rd hole (we played 18) and we had to leave the cart. They did not refund us for the cart, because my buddy rode with a random single in our group and were not apologetic. Disappointing experience all around. read more

I've played in a league there for the last 7 years. It has gotten worse every year. It's at a point now that it's probably the worst manicured course in the Capital District. Cart paths are undrivable and fairways have holes everywhere. This is my last year. Can't take any more. The only nice holes are the ones you can see coming up the driveway and from the clubhouse. read more

The New Owners are making some much desired changes to the layout and conditions. However, there have been numerous rounds that go over five hours. They do send the Ranger out and he will talk to the foursome, but that alone really doesn't solve the problem. They should probably make that slow group move 2 to 3 holes ahead, so that the 60 people waiting for the 5+ hour round won't be so dissatisfied. Better to upset 4 guys than 60 plus. Some of my friends have said they will not come back and are boycotting. read more

I really think the overall price vs value of this place are kind of disappointing. The 20-27 holes are very unkept and one has a literal leaking pipe causing a lake you can shoot from. The prices go up for the summer but the quality doesn't improve. The cutting tool for the holes has left them jagged the last few weeks so dropping putts just fights back even more. It's like they spent all their money making the main area nice then don't really care about the rest. The cart paths are pretty rough too. Also if you go for the 20-27 don't bother if your ball goes close or into the woods. It's all poison ivy. read more

Restaurant review! OMG! Stopped here with some friends, on a raining afternoon. Food was outstanding! I enjoyed a Mediterranean salad, while my companions ordered different salads! Wow! Did not expect such amazing healthy choices! My salad was a delicious combination of grains, greens and veggies! My friend had a kale and strawberry salad...everything was fresh and delicious! Great combination of flavors. We also had an order of the chips, wow. Beyond delicious. Our waitress was extremely attentive and friendly! I highly recommend this place...even without golf!!! Played this past weekend and the course is in very good shape. Unfortunately the experience was dissappointing due to there being a group of 6 (three carts together) and several foursomes that would not tee off on par 4's and 5's until the group in front of them were on the green. In some cases waiting to tee off until after the group in front of them left the green. This resulted in long waits between shots and could easily have been corrected with reminders from a ranger to keep play moving. Without a ranger golfer sometimes take matters into their own hands which can lead to conflicts. Additionally the beverage cart met us on the 4th hole and never returned. When we called the club house we were told the young lady had left for the day. This was a missed opportuntity for the course and young lady to increase revenue as the course was very busy. We enjoy the course and look forward to playing each year however if this is what we can expect we do have other options for courses to play. Hopefully the appropriate attention will be made as the starter does a great job and the food is always very good. Thank you. read more

Course is in excellent condition. Much improved from years past. And the food is outstanding. Highly recommend.

Thought the course was in terrible condition and the range was not in good shape either. The range mats are practically wore down to the concrete and the range balls I was given were all dirty and covered in dry mud. Good advertising and good looking clubhouse but maybe they should focus more on the golf related conditions. read more

Historically this has been a playable course with four hour and 15 minute rounds. Since the new ownership took over, the conditions have gotten slightly better, but we just played a Saturday morning round in five hours and 20 minutes. Hoping they don't lose sight of their core customer group as they try to upscale. read more

I really enjoyed this course as it isn't to difficult of a course to play if your a beginner to intermediate player. The clubhouse was well staffed and knowledgeable making the experience all the worthwhile. The only quarrel I had was there was a bit of disorganization at the start; however, the starter had us on the right tee in no time. read more

This is a solid public course with friendly staff. Practice area is great - undulating green with chipping areas. However, the range balls are really bad. It's expected to have wear on them, but these are unhittable - no dimples. read more

Haven't played there yet this year. After seeing the 2015 rates, I don't think I'll be going much. 18 holes with a cart on the weekends and holidays ......... $56.00 ??????? I'm sorry........... Brian Goudey does a good job as the superintendent with little or no budget to work with, but I cannot see the average golfer affording this. Courses like this need to seriously think about the price structure or there will be plenty of blanks on the tee sheets this year. Ordered the scallop risotto and came under cooked. Sent it back but was told that's how it comes which really surprised me. When it came back it was still undercooked but lost the flavor of seasoning and lemon. I told the waitress it wasn't very good still and she never asked me if I wanted anything else. Instead she just said "sorry" and charged me for the dinner anyhow. Will not eat there again. read more
