Since it used the same key as the lock in the front door, I thought I would be changing both locks, plus the deadbolt on the front door, so I wouldn't have to carry two keys to the house and wouldn't have to remember which one to use on a dark, cold, rainy night when I had my arms full of packages. I wanted to go to a brick-and-mortar store, not just call somebody who had a listing in the phone book or was carpet-bombing Yelp with spam. Well, Big D Lock City has been in this spot for at least 30 years, according to the guys behind the counter. The same guys also said that they could simply sell me one new lock and key it to the locks I already had, thus saving me a couple hundred dollars and a load of aggravation. (I have a couple friends and family members who have keys to my house, and they would all need to be notified and resupplied.) The locksmith came out the next day as scheduled, finished the job quickly and took my credit card without a hassle. I thought the price was reasonable, but it's not like I called three other shops and compared. I just felt good about the place when I walked in and saw a place that had a timeworn feel to it, a place where they were honest and old-school about their work. If I need a locksmith again, I know who I'll call.

I've had instances with Bob in the past where I was taken aback by how rude, confrontational and irrational he was but I certainly didn't think that he would be that way to my poor wife. I feel terrible about sending her there and I would suggest only engaging this company if you've got thick skin and you're ready to walk away shaking your head wondering how they are still in business.

After an hour of concentrated effort, I called Accurate Lock & Key and was given a very fair and reasonable quote by Steve. He was here within the 15 minute timeframe he promised. The lock was a bit stubborn, but he knew exactly what to do and after a couple of different tools, bingo! Success! Lo and behold, my keys were right where I thought they would be in that room. My form of payment was going to be a charge card, but there's a 3% charge for that so an old fashioned check written out to the company worked out even better.
