Mt Olympus! Not the original one in Greece, the one in Washington that is very hard to see unless you're willing to hike 18.5 miles!
So, this is a crazy mountain. It holds numerous fun stats and facts:
- Tallest mountain in the Olympics
- Largest glacier in the lower 48 outside of Mt Rainier
- one of the longest approaches in the lower 48
- you start out in a RAINFOREST
The Blue Glacier is a sight to behold. The mountain itself looks like a mini mountain range with numerous summits and ice falls.
The summit block has a delightful 5.4 rock climb on it. The rock quality is very good for the Olympics. The only bummer is that it's very short, it'll leave you wanting for more.
The most disappointing thing about this climb is definitely making camp at Glacier Meadows. There are no glaciers and no meadows there. It's just a dreary forest with an outhouse. But, logistically, it makes the most sense to camp here. read more
