    Lake and scenic view

This place is gorgeous. I ended up here accidentally after a date. The views are spectacular and the photos won't really do them justice. There's a paved road up as well as trails. I enjoyed the scenic drive up. Make sure your brakes work well and you'll be fine. There's good information about the Adirondack peaks on some of the signs at the top. I plan to come back frequently.

There are several viewing areas at the top if the first one you see is occupied.

Vermont's first state park. A fun, rugged trail up the mountain rewards you with stunning views of the Adirondack mountains, picnic tables, viewing areas, cabins, and restrooms. You can also drive or bike up the mountain on the one way road. It's a good 30+ minute hike that will leave you short of breath. $4 per person entry fee. More than worth it for the experience.

Awesome park for all ages! You have the option to either hike or drive to the top, depending on which you want to do. When you get to the summit there's plenty of chairs, trails to walk around, restrooms, a picnic area, and incredible views! I saw families with young kids there and I personally took my 80+ year old grandmother. I highly recommend this park to everyone! It's a great way to be able to experience the summit of one of VT's mountains without being an expert hiker.

An absolutely breathtaking place. Could spend hours here. You can easily hike to the top. If hiking is not your thing then it's accessible via car as well. Pack lunch / drinks and enjoy the view.

Went here for a short hike with great views with two kids, age 5 & 7. Entrance fee of $4 per person, $2 per kid. You can park at bottom and hike to top or you can drive to the top. Dogs allowed on leash. Takes about half hour to hike to top. My 5 yo was complaining towards the end, but she's not used to hiking. Some steep or rocky areas, but pretty moderate. Even saw someone hiking in flip flops. The views from the top were very nice. You can see Lake Champlain over to NY state. There are picnic tables and chairs at the top. Also there are restrooms and a water fountain. You could have a special event here and we saw it set up for a wedding. We walked down the road back to the parking lot. No trash cans, so you have to carry out what you carry in. Saw some mosquitoes, so you may want to bring bug spray.

Great views from the overlook. There are two hiking paths. One is paved and the other is I would say mild to moderate difficulty trail. Paths are steep though. Great picnic spots at the view points. Dog and kid friendly. There was supposed to be an entry fee but I think that's only for camping. We went in the am for a hike and it was free! Def recommend

Mt. Philo Park offers a short and relatively easy hike to a summit with stunning views of the valley below, Lake Champlain, and the Adirondacks off in the distance. It didn't take much time at all for the advanced-beginner hikers that we are to reach the viewing area. It was a beautiful place to have a picnic lunch. There are even restrooms at the summit. Best of all, it was only a short drive from Burlington so it was easy to get to. I do wish the trail was a little longer and a little more challenging, but I still recommend coming here!

Amazing views. Steep hike up but only takes 30 minutes to reach summit. It's worth the effort but not for those who are not fit.

Maple Hill offers an in-expensive and convenient camping experience for those looking to go hiking or sight seeing in the Bristol/Waterbury area. The "downtown" of Bristol is a short drive away if you need to buy supplies or want a nice evening out for dinner and ice cream. They have both wooded and field sites you can get a nice spot right on the river. There is also a bathhouse with running water, showers, and flush toilets. I have never been so pleased with an experience of true human compassion and the people running this campground are what all humans should achieve to be. I know this review may be somewhat cryptic but might I just add: Make sure that you remember that the road for the campground is located across the street from the white house and not to find yourself going down a rocky dirt road in the dark, in a rainstorm, in the fog....Things may not end up well for you haha. Anyways, Martha is the best and thank God for AAA. Check in and registration is at the white house and campsites run about 25/night for non electric sites.

Great little campground!…read more We had a spot right over the brook and fell asleep to the sound of it babbling. Some of the wooded spots are definitely on the small side but they vary. The field sites are huge, and open... they don't offer the privacy but would be a fantastic place camp with a group and stargaze. Maybe the only time I have used a campground bathroom and not had to avoid the hordes of harvestmen/daddylong-legs. And the bathroom lights are solar powered! Super nice owner, low rates, very clean grounds. It's close to some neat swimming holes, hiking and mountain biking trails, as well.

A gate code is needed to access the campground. We rented a cabin here. There are four. Two of them are 'deluxe' and have indoor cook tops. The others do not allow indoor cooking and have grills outside. The kitchen was very well kitted with everything you could need. The Deluxe cabin we rented was decorated in a cabin style with bear and moose motif items. A table for two in the kitchen, a couch for two or three and a nice rocker. A small desk is in the corner of the livingroom with a kitchen chair for seating. Hooks for coats and a place for shoes by the door. The gas fireplace is shut off in the summer because the pilot heats up the cabin. They are on from Septemer 1st. The bedroom has a queen bed, (linens and blankets provided) full dresser, bedside tables, another kitchen chair (a total of four in the cabin) and luggage rack. Two narrow closets included hangers, extra pillows and towels for the pool or hot tub. Three quarter bath was well maintained. Two bath towels and one hand towel. Hand soap on vanity. Hair dryer and extra TP under sink. Shelves for toiletries. Clothes hook on back of door. Two seats and a table are on the front porch. Our parking space was in front of the porch. A picnic table and firepit are to the right of the porch, at the end of the parking space. Our porch faced the gravel road into the campground. The campground is tiered from the road down to the river with camper spots on each tier. No spots are directly on the river. A field designated as a dog exercise area is next to the river, then a small, rocky beach to the river. The road noise is heard throughout the campground, even at the brook where the river babbles over the stones, which is very pleasant. The onsite store rents tubes for riding the river. A path to the left of the dog area ends where you can put the tube in the water, ride it to the end of the beach and repeat the process. Laundry, public bathrooms and shower bathrooms are in a newer, climate controlled building near the playground. A pass code is needed to enter. Two pools and a hot tub are near the office/store. Mini-golf is behind the store. Dump station on the way out near the dumpsters. Gravel roads are maintained. Some site have full hook-up, fire pit and picnic table. Very pet friendly.

The park hosts 4 cabins, 22 tent/RV sites, and 21 lean-to sites located around two paved/well-maintained dirt roads on the premises. It appears to be open Memorial Day weekend to late October. It is a breeze to find, easily located just off Route 100. The Appalachian Trail runs right through the park so you may catch a glimpse of some thru-hikers on their journey between Maine and Georgia! The park is very well-maintained! The campsite was neatly raked, the fire pit cleaned out for use. I stayed at campsite #1 and it was quite spacious...a bit further removed from the road than the other campsites. The whole site was marked out with a fine gravel, plenty of room for parking and maneuvering the car. Each road loop contains modern bathrooms and coin-operated hot showers. There are areas for picnicking, volleyball, horseshoes, trash/recycling, and drinking water. Kent Pond is just across the way complete with boat launch and fishing! Booking and check-in were a breeze for this location. I called 10 days before our intended arrival and got a site no problem. On arrival, the ranger at the park office was very friendly and sold us firewood and ice straight from there. If you need any assistance during off-hours, the ranger lives in a cute house attached to the park office. They encouraged us to knock on the door at any time if we needed help. The campsite is pet-friendly and I came across quite a few well-behaved dogs during my stay. Quiet hours are from 10pm-7am. The park itself is pretty quiet all day long... I heard nothing but birds chirping, trees rustling, and a bit less-welcoming: the traffic from Route 100. This didn't bother me so much since I generally wear earplugs to sleep but something to consider if you prefer a more rustic atmosphere when camping. Tent sites are between $20-$22/night, $27-$29 for a lean-to site, and $50 for cabins. There is a 2-night minimum for reservations. Affordable, clean, convenient... I would definitely stay here again!

He framed a tour for us (hiking, farmers market, swimming, mountain views, picturesque towns) that was the height of our trip. Nailed it! We actually booked the Cozy Screen House the first two nights (beautiful site, CLEAN inside and out, real futon, flashlights, S'more fixings, everything! ) and we almost didn't want to give it up to be inside the Mill. Pictures can't evoke the energy in this place: the scented wood and stone entryway; the warm tones and lighted walls and creaky planks of the main living room and bar; the authentic STEEP climb to the upstairs (shared) bathroom-with teak tub! (Knuckle bite)- oh and then the upstairs private bedroom and sitting room...just outstanding. The constant rush of the river was very soothing. Felt very relaxed and comfortable using the deck, towels, drying rack, coffee maker, and bug spray available. Notes: beautiful natural paths (uneven stones, careful), and gorgeous hand made wooden steps (hold hand rail) from deck to main house. Swimming on site is an unforgettable experience! But not for the faint of heart, or those with vertigo...very steep steps (excellent solid rope hand rail), then an almost vertical ladder of 5-6 steps. Wow! Totally worth it! This is long, I know, but go see them, John and Manjula, their place, their love of laughter, peace, and adventure. Prepare to be enlightened!
