Thankfully, my family and I have since found a church where we feel genuinely welcomed and supported. I grew up attending this church and many of my family members and friends did as well. Because of that, it felt like the natural place to celebrate such a special moment in our lives. Unfortunately, the experience leading up to our wedding was incredibly disappointing. Throughout the planning process many of our interactions with Elsa left us feeling judged rather than supported. It often felt like we were constantly being corrected or expected to meet certain standards instead of being encouraged and welcomed. Rather than feeling excited about getting married in the church I grew up in I found myself feeling discouraged. I believe churches should help people feel welcomed, encouraged, and drawn closer to their faith not leave them feeling like outsiders or ashamed because they don't meet every expectation. (Sometimes unfortunately people do stray away but who are we to judge or make people feel that way?) The day of our wedding was especially disappointing. Shortly after the ceremony we were rushed to leave and were told we needed to get out. After such an important milestone that was an unfortunate way to end. I'm grateful to have found a new church where my family and I feel accepted, welcomed, and able to grow in our faith without feeling judged. I truly hope everyone who chooses to celebrate one of life's biggest moments here has an experience that makes them feel loved and supported.

First Prosper is Wonderful…read more They make you feel so welcome and involved from the very beginning. Everyone wants to get to know you and your family. Join a life group! The most important thing is definitely done here: Jesus is made FIRST and foremost like he should be! First Prosper also just got a tremendous new pastor. I see tremendous growth coming for this church in the years to come. They just do everything right.
