I attended a retirement party for a colleague that was held at the Mount Prospect Golf Club. Their restaurant and bar area was big enough for our large group and other golfers to have enough room to eat, drink, and enjoy themselves. The clubhouse was decorated simply but nicely. The food was OK but it was nothing special or memorable. The bartenders were nice and friendly. I recommend the Mount Prospect Golf Club. read more

One of my favorite public courses to play in the Chicagoland area and for anyone who complains about the price, you have options. Option 1, walk this course and save on the cart fee (course is very walkable and I prefer to walk this course); Option 2, check GolfNow for deals or don't play during prime time. This course has a friendly staff and a great practice green and short game area. The range is not bad but I've only seen the mats used. This course rewards accurate shots and a skillful putting stroke. In my opinion, the key is to play early in the mornings and enjoy the low sun and dew as you begin your round while finishing with the sun high in the sky. read more

The course was in terrible condition other than cutting the grass they do not do anything regarding upkeep. The tee boxes are in bad condition as well as the greens being beat up. They need to put signs up for golfers to replace divot and repair ball marks. read more

Weird rules here. If you try to combine two tee times into one, they won't allow it. If you try to play one hole with 7 bodies and 4 golf carts, suddenly they get upset??? All that aside, it is a lovely, well taken care of course. Jimi hit the crap out of the ball there. Sure Jimi played from the ladies tees but whatever still counts. Not pleased. Have played here before and scheduled through Golfnow for last week. Had to cancel because of Covid issues and never received a refund or chance to reschedule. Golfnow did contact me about changing my review but in the end that just took another half hour of my time and I've benefited nothing from it. After a week of communication I received a credit from GolfNow, only with the help of Debra from MP Golf Course. I will gladly paly MP again - just wont book through GolfNow. read more

I have golfed many courses through the years. This is my "home" course, and I love it. Water is a hazard on 2, 4,(men) 5, 6 (men) 7, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, and 18. It is challenging. I had a hole in one on #7! It is also well maintained, and the grill has some great choices. No wonder it is my favorite course. Con: It is expensive on the weekends. It is a park district course and it costs $68 with a cart on a Sunday morning. read more

The only thing missing from this tricked up pile of crap is a clown face on a windmill. It cost $59.00 to play a 6 hour round, while constantly being bothered by the grounds crew. It's the only course I've ever played on which the greens mower won't stop for approach shots. While the course is in good condition, good shots are penalized by what I suspect is the worst course design I have ever experienced. read more

Love this golf course. Pace of play is always great and even if it isn't, the locals are always willing to let you go through. Great little course. Very well taken care of an manicured nicely. It is tucked in the middle of a neighborhood but it is a first class course. Also if you sign up to the mount prospect park district mailer they will send you great deals on twilight golf rates. Normally for out of district it runs about $40 or $50 to walk but our deal gave us greens fees and cart for $35 during twilight. Very tight and short course. It stresses accuracy over power and the greens are small and undulating making them challenging and will not bore you. In our carts we finished a round in about 4 hours so it is quick paced and compact. A creek runs though the course however water really does not factor in any of the holes. Because it is short and tight the real challenge comes in the form of well placed bunkers that are unforgiving when trying to get out. The GPS system in the carts seem to be lacking a bit and the readings did not match well with the markers on the course so I have to take off a point for that. But the location is superb being that it is close to my home and it is challenging enough to make it seem a much better course that it may seem on paper. Hints: Do not miss long. If you hit over the greens it will be impossible to get up and down. Trust you instincts over the GPS readings. Try to avoid bunkers as they are murderous on your score. Focus on accuracy over distance as one mistake can cost you several strokes. read more

This is a local golf club which belongs to the Mt. Prospect Park district. It is a nice course with carpet like fairways and fast greens. However, it gets very busy during the weekends and at peak hours. There are also a lot of leagues that play on certain days. It is a nice course but it gets beat on. They also have a geese issue. Customer service is OK. I have tried my debit card and my AMEX and it always does not go through. They have issues with the credit card payment system. Be prepared to use the ATM to get cash for the round. It is also a bit pricey for a public golf course. The bargains start after October 1st. If you pay for the park district discount card ($50) then there are additional savings. read more

This course got a complete makeover and reopened for play in July 2015. The course is much more difficult now with many elevated, highly contoured greens that require high, precise iron shots and and deft chipping skills when you miss with the irons. Conditions are great, the new driving range and practice area is excellent. It is a unique course that combines old trees and layout features with modern updates. Just don't expect to post good scores here, need a lot of local knowledge and skill to do that. Par is now 70 with 3 par 3s on the back, which is a bit weird. Only need to hit driver 4-5 times if a better player. read more

I have played over 10 rounds this summer at Mt. Prospect and have found the course in very good condition each round. The greens are some of the toughest to putt on that I have encountered anywhere and that makes it very enjoyable and a challenge. Nothing like lining up a putt that appears to break both ways and also goes up and down slope. We golf. A lot. I've played here a handful of times over the years as many in our usual foursomes live up in the northwest burbs. It's a nice short course (~6200 from tips) with not too many surprises. It's well kept, and it's never been too crowded the times I've gone. Carts equipped with GPS. I'm on the mailing list, and they have special discounts, so we try to take advantage of discounted rates when we can. The course itself gets 4 stars. The reason I'm giving this a 3 star rating was because of the 1-2 star service we got there on our one visit here earlier this summer. It's the only time that I've experienced poor service here, so I'd like to chalk it up as them having a bad day, but one bad day is enough to lose customers permanently. Keep in mind I'm not a real sensitive guy, so for things to bug me, it needs to accumulate. A couple of our group members got there early, and the pro shop wouldn't let them check in until I got there with the coupon. I called the pro shop from my car to assure them I had a coupon, but the pro shop guy that I spoke with was dismissive and abrasive and indicated that they wouldn't give the discount until they saw the coupon. That's fine, policy is policy. So I get there, and we check in. There's a young teenage kid behind the counter with the pro shop guy who looks like he just got yelled at by his mother (or maybe by the pro shop guy?) and was about to burst into tears. After we pay the pro shop guy, this kid retrieves us a couple of cart keys and literally THROWS them toward us over the counter. Pro shop guy doesn't blink an eye. Me and my friends are looking at each other like, "is this really happening?"... no harm, no foul. The kids having a bad day, why rip into him and make it worse? We're shaking our heads as we walk towards the carts. We load up and head to the first tee. We are chased down AT the first teebox (we had not even taken a club out of the bag yet) by the starter in a cart. I remember seeing this guy chatting it up with someone at the practice greens. He's tries to give us a lecture about how we're supposed to stop and give receipts to the starter, but I've had enough and I stop him and tell him that starters should be waiting for us at the first tee box and regulating course flow, and how are we supposed to know he's a starter if he's sitting by the practice green? Attitudes exchanged both directions. He's miffed, I'm finally miffed. Whatever. Let's golf. Mt Prospect is a nice course. Go there. Golf there. Enjoy yourself. With the coupons and discounts, it's a good deal. But in this economy today, I'll pay more to golf elsewhere where there is a little more friendly and consistent service. In my personal opinion, the better golf courses conduct business as if they are in the hospitality business, and not like they're doing you a favor by taking your money. read more

The only thing positive I can say is that this course is fair in terms of when you hit a good shot you get rewarded, and when you hit a bad shot you get punished, but it's still possible to recover before your bogey becomes a double par. You can generally find your ball in the rough, unlike some courses in the area. They do not advertise that their coupons are good only on certain days, and they still refused to take my coupon anyway even though it wasn't written in any fine print anywhere. That said, I refuse to go back, and I highly recommend that everyone else steer clear because the $51 walking fee is unreasonably expensive compared to other courses in the area, to say nothing about the $68 total fee to ride. The course is not so pristine or well-maintained to warrant a high price--I've played golf at WAY nicer courses for cheaper without a coupon. I only planned to play because I had the coupon. You couldn't get me to play there for free anymore, nor would I ever attend a banquet of any kind there. read more

This course is fantastic and an absolute blast to play. You get a variety of holes here. Short, long, tight, open, easy, hard. It's a nice blend of just about everything you could ask for in my opinion. The green complexes here are top notch as well. The redesign was done to perfection as far as the greens are concerned. You won't find a more unique array of greens that allow/demand you to hit creative shots every golfer should yearn for. Those that complain and call the greens "gimmicky" should really lighten up and embrace the creative side of the game. Akin to the ways links golf embraces the contours of the land to guide shots, this course offers what feels like an America version of that on several holes. As fun as the course is this place certainly isn't perfect. The greens can get fairly chewed up as it get lots of public play. The high volume of traffic can also effect the pace of play... drastically at times. The routing of holes 1-4 leads to a painfully slow start to the round on a consistent basis. Despite these flaws it still gets 5 stars from me because of how reliably fun and unique of a golf experience it offers each time I play. read more

wow, all that PUBLIC money to re-do a gimmicky course and its not really different. They completely changed many holes but still have half the holes as jokes; many are irons off the tee and wedges--or putter--too the hole--way too short for 18 holes. it is kept up nice even though the superintendent insists on trying to grow grass in shade, why = ? so instead of consistent rough there is a lot of mud/dirt spots. way too close to other holes and frankly not safe . Worst thing is that the customer service hasnt changed in 40 years. Awful!! The days of treating your best customers like crap passed and they didn't get the message. comparable places nearby for half the price. what a shame the most popular public course in Illinois in 1983 is mostly empty during the week and now a laughing stock within the local golf industry. Today was "Angry Greenskeeper Day"! I counted four holes cut less than FIVE paces from the rough( #9 was 3 ) and 2 others with locations that were borderline unplayable. Yes, I get it , you're trying to protect par. But the Tour won't be by anytime soon. If you wish to speed up play and garner better golf...give us a break on the pin sheet. Some sections of sod that you put down, in the fairway, were dead and hard. I came back on some passes because of a super sizzling 5 1/2 hour round last year , but I'm not coming back at all. read more

I have played here before the construction and about a dozen times after. The new layout is good but the greens are to much contour. Almost to miniature golf style with a clown's mouth. I loved the course before the makeover and I won't play there anymore. Its sad. read more

Avoid this course. The greens are a travesty: overly-undulating, in poor condition (ball marks everywhere), and the groundskeeper, on a Sunday, decided to tuck pins on shelfs that were inaccessible from the fairway. Two single digit handicaps hated every minute. Also, the staff didn't show up on time so early tee times couldn't warm up on the range. Tee to green it's a nice track; the greens ruin the experience.
