The name of the place can be deceiving since it is a convenience store (not a supermarket). They do have a great beer/wine selection as well as a wide range of liquors. They also carry many snacks and kitchen staples. They are not open on Sundays (probably due to state alcohol restrictions), but they are open quite late on other days. Supermarket is essentially a liquor store with a rather extensive grocery section for your convenience. The good: 9 times out of 10, if a local brewery releases a new, fun, craft beer, Supermarket will have it soon almost immediately after the release announcement. Local breweries like Peabody Heights, DuClaw, and Union all have a big presence here, as well as New Belgium/Voodoo Ranger and 21st Amendment for out-of-town craft fair. The okay: The prices are just that-okay The bad: Selections of most of the spirits are kept behind the checkout counter, so they're impossible to browse and difficult to make out the prices on-some aren't marked at all. Also, a lot of their stock is very old (many bottles are dusty even), and I've bought expired beer a few times here (who thinks to check beer?!). I have high-hopes for anything in Mt Vernon. We all know that Baltimore could use more supermarkets so I'm sure these guys are doing pretty well. Why didn't I know about this place sooner? For nearly a year, there I was frequenting that shady little liquor store at Eager and St Paul for "cheap" beer and wine and liquor, when MV Supermarket has been under my nose the whole time, and is slightly less shady, with actual cheap beer and wine and liquor. To call itself a "supermarket" is more than an overstatement as it's more so just a nook of a convenience store, but all of your basic alcohol needs and then some are here. This place has everything you can think of, liquor, beer, and a mini convenient store. IIf you are drunk, come here...maybe you need more booze..maybe you need some alka selzer... IIf you are hungry come here, there is a extensive selection of oriental food and of quick meals. If you want to drink, come here...you will find a large selection of liquor, wines, and beer. Talking about beer. they are so cool that they can order your favorite beer. If you need toilet paper...you will find that here too. There are only a handful of things to take into consideration here. First off, the folks who run it are super nice. If you come in on even a fairly regular basis, the people remember you, and that's something nice. Very Baltimore... I'm a big fan of their beer selection. I can't speak for the macro-brews (cuz I don't bother with that junk), but the micro beers are priced a tad on the high side. Liquor is about 25% more expensive that what I've seen elsewhere, and I'm not sure about the wine. All that said, they sometimes have reduced priced items. There is a lot of packaged Asian foods here - so if that's your thing, this might be your place. VERDICT: Nice little community market. Alcohol prices can be a little higher than you've seen elsewhere, but the selection is admirable for such a small community market. Shop on. read more

The place ripped me off in 2012 and I avoid them unless I have no other options. I bought 2 Money Orders and made out one to the wrong party. I returned to the store in less than 24 hours and they still charged me $8 ! to cash and replace it. They are not very friendly to their neighbors that live less than half a block away. Their alcohol prices are reasonable but they are sky high on everything else. I recommend Eddie's Market on Eager Street between Cathedral and Charles which also sells beer and wine and better prices on other groceries and household items - downside they are only open until 8pm. Next choice a small market on St Paul in the same block or 7-11 Centre and Charles Streets or Calvert and Chase streets. read more

Friendly service. Never in my life have I had such an excellent, pleasant, and friendly checkout experience at a liquor store in the city. As a man of color in Baltimore we are usually treated a certain type of way by small business owners and rightfully so due to the city's high crime rate. This place is a hidden gem. I bet many people (like me) walk right by and never know it's there. It was not till I started working down the block that I found it. This is a great convenience store with a little bit of everything - food, tp, beer and liquor, bungee cords, snacks, soda. But I think the best thing is that they cut keys! So glad to have a local place so get my keys made so I don't have to drive out to the county. :) love the late hours too! read more

So as a supermarket this place isn't the best. But as another reviewer has noted, this is an excellent beer/alcohol store and a good wine store which also sells some grocery items. There beer selection is unparalleled in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood, and I've never had anything other than a very positive experience with the staff there. Highly recommended. This really is a hidden gem in Mt. Vernon. I lived here for 6 months before I realized it was there. Even when I did walk in for the first time, I walked back out because I didn't see anything but wine and liquor. I went back home, confirmed that it supposedly had a good beer selection, and then tried again another day. It turns out, the beer is in another room that I didn't notice the first time. They have a really nice variety and a moderately-sized selection, and they rotate a lot of their stuff. Prices are maybe $1 more than I'd like to pay for a 6-pack, but I haven't found anywhere else in the area that has as much craft beer. read more
