This subway stations is within mere walking distance from Central Park and Columbia University. The 1 train is local via Broadway. There are two entrances - Uptown and Downtown - no underground passageway or overhead passageway to connect as straphangers would have to go to street level and enter with either OMNY or MetroCard. This area is a popular tourist known for sites as Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Tom's Restaurant where the exterior was used for filming the television sitcom "Seinfeld." I have a predilection and really admire the original name tablet green-and-white large mosaic wall tablets with the name "CATHEDRAL PARKWAY" as it is beautiful artwork. I admire these mosaic tiles artwork as it reminisce an old world era of the period when the subway was constructed. The pilasters are adored by blue faience mosaic plaques with the number "110", surrounded by motifs of wreaths as another original ceramic cartouche. Nota Bene: There are two (2) subway stations name MTA - Cathedral Parkway 110th Street. The other is located in Upper West Side and Morningside Heights at Frederick Douglass Boulevard that serves B, C and A trains.

The area is usually pretty safe. It only has the local. It serves the 1 Train. This mostly follows along close to Broadway to its terminal far up. It's not that impressive looking but it serves its purpose of getting you at te you need to go. This isn't as crowded as the stops before this. There are some popular tourist attractions. It's located close by the Seinfeld diner. There's also the massive cathedral which is why they named the street Cathedral Parkway.

This Prince St. Subway Station in SoHo at Broadway is serviced by BMT Broadway Line trains (i.e.,…read morethose marked yellow between Brooklyn and Queens or Uptown) when they're running local in Midtown Manhattan. [That service, subject to change for multiple reasons, presently includes: R at all times except night, W on weekdays, N weekends and nights, as well as Q at night.] Spanning both platforms, Brooklyn artist Janet Zweig and figurative artist Edward del Rosario's collaboration 2003 "Carrying On" tile, steel, and slate mosaic depicts 194 silhouetted New York figures along with the many assorted things they carried on the street above. The artists utilized photographs of actual anonymous individuals in motion around the city to create the figures. Each figures unique fine details tell a different story, easy to overlook if you rush through the station. Begun just before 9/11 and finished a couple years afterwards, the title also gives a nod to New Yorkers continuing afterwards plus their outgoing personalities and lively nature. Given this always busy Prince Street station provides close subway access to the SoHo shopping district, it could benefit from MTA installing elevators! People who cannot easily navigate the stairs, such as with strollers, carriages, or wheelchairs cannot easily use this subway station! I have seen a rat or two back in the day. They have cleaned it up since then. The neighborhood is a shoppers paradise. There's so much to see. You have plenty of food options when you exit the subway also. There are cheap eats if you look in the right places. You won't get confused or lost here. Pretty straight forward Subway Station. There's old tiles from days gone by and new decor too. I'm definitely going back soon. I need to see if some of my favorite delis and restaurants are still open. Check it out.....

There is also an elevator on the SE corner of 86th and 2nd! Wonderful!! There is WiFi service in the station, and plenty of kiosks to get tickets. Not manned, but there are blue light kiosks for emergencies. Everytime I step on the Q, I swear the cleaning team has just stepped out the other door. Every morning it is freshly mopped and I want to be sure they know how appreciative I am and I spoke to others who agreed with me while we sat there. Masks are required, for good reason - too many people in a closed subway car - I wish everyone ALWAYS wore masks on there!!

The 68th Street-Hunter College Station on the Lexington Avenue Local Line (6 at all times and 4 at…read morenight) offers a great perch to watch the trains through the expansive windows at the Mezzanine crossover sitting area! It's easy to use, being ADA compliant, and also has colorful artwork within the station. African American artist Lisa Corinne Davis employs layered representations of maps in these 2024 public art mosaic murals taken from her paintings made of a combination of glass smalti, engraved glass cakes with color infill, and hand-painted glass. Before you enter fare control is "Tempestuous Terrain" and on the Mezzanine, flanking both stairs down the platforms are "Liminal Location." They're all worth checking out when you stop to take a moment to enjoy the trains passing by below!

It might sometimes be called Midtown - 57th Street in some references and is directly adjacent to Carnegie Hall. The station is completely handicapped accessible, which I found helpful today as I was dragging my rollaboard and not interested in going down a flight or two of stairs. Surprisingly, the elevator did NOT smell of pee! The mezzanine level has the usual fare controls including ticketing kiosks and turnstiles. There is another elevator down to the platform level. For a station that is over 100 years old (it opened in 1919), I found it reasonable clean and well lit. Better than many of the MTA stations on Manhattan. Located in MidTown Manhattan, Times Square, Garment District, also Hell's Kitchen is nearby. This MTA station serves several Subway trains including the A, C & E lines which I trequently use. You'll find stairs all through the area which will bring you downstairs to the lower level. I've mostly seen newsstands and ATM's throughout the station. Be careful of panhandler's and always watch your back. I frequently see NYPD on patrol, during major political events I've also seen US Military personnel, but you can't always rely on their presence or the use of CCTV. Download the OMNY app, use Apple Pay or you can always use and reload your Metro card using the self-serve kiosks. Be smart and travel safe.
