Great gym, people and coaches. Do not be intimidated to begin, the coaches adjust the workouts for all, including beginners.

Two years ago I walked in and was immediately unsure whether it was the right decision because everyone looked so skilled and experienced, and I had no Muay Thai experience at all. When I expressed my doubts, the business owner's wife said "oh don't worry sweetheart, this will definitely be the workout to get you fit." And she was right. Despite me being a beginner, the coaches and other gym members were patient and supportive. The community is fun and incredibly welcoming and that encouraged me to train regularly, and I was proud of how much I grew through their routines. MTL also has impressive fighters. A great gym equally trains each person equal whether their goal is competting and/or in holistic health and weight loss. There is humbleness to recognizing anyone can be a great artist and be skilled, but what is a blessing is a space of support and caring people. We make mistakes in life out of lack of experience, we are all learning and working each day to be better people. Everyone has a human right to train and be wherever they want too. Come try out a free week and see if it's enjoyable. In life we should spent time exercising now versus a life of pain just being still in the future. Think of it as an investment to your retirement, so you're healthy in old age. Also investment to be able to enjoy life traveling,playing sports with younger family members. Hardest part is walking through the front door and you can walk right out is a good first goal. I came here on November 12th of 2021 to visit their new location. They expanded their place with more space & more equipment at a new location. The location is pretty easy to find on GPS. It's inside a plaza, with other building units. Their gym is well lit and is at the very end of the building, parking can be an issue a bit but not too much of a hassle. Upon walking in, the office is at the entrance, where you see plenty of space for office desk, sitting area and a room for lockers and little section for the restroom that's unisex. They have fridge for water for guests & members which is a huge plus. The next room after the office waiting area is the main gym. The area is spacious, very clean and organized. They have many different bags to hit on and section areas to spare. Padding from floors to walls, with signs to direct for you to remove shoes pand to bow upon entering. They also have plenty of shelf space for storage for the fighters to place their gym bags and seating area for guests to sit and watch. If you ask for Tyler, he will be the one to help assist with your needs as he is the owner of the place. He is an amazing trainer & coach. Another person that can also assist is Ryan... he will make sure everything is provided as well. They are really great people and fighters of this amazing establishment. Clean facilities with a great team of coaches that teach a string of techniques whilst giving good advice on when to apply and how to set up. I tried this spot out as I just moved to Sacramento from the bay area and wanted to continue my muay thai training, this was the first on the list of trials I will take and I can honestly say I already find it hard to beat the experience I've had here so far, I'll still do my due diligence to check out what's out here but I will likely be back soon read more

Prior to Covid hitting in 2020, our son was part of a competitive Taekwondo olympic sparring team. He thrived in the structure, competitive nature, and dedication this team/family provided him. Unfortunately, during the 2 year shut down his team disbanded and he lost that home-practice balance, which has helped tremendously in his success at school. He felt that this was the perfect opportunity to try something new. Although we tried other studios, we could not find one that matched what we were looking for. More often than not, his extensive Taekwondo background was seen as a negative trait...until Muay Thai Lao!!! After seeing them complete in Rocklin in Feb of 2022, we knew we had to check out their school. From our very first day, our son loved their training style, work ethic, and dedication. As a parent, we love the hands on training, the fact that the coaches either used to compete or are still currently competing, and most of all...they see his Taekwondo background as a positive trait...more tools in the tool belt as they say. They were able to tailor our son's training to bring out his strengths, while building on his new Muay Thai foundation. And lastly...as corny as it sounds...this is truly a family gym. We felt right at home from day 1, and never looked back. You can always find some regular studio around the corner from your house or a cheap studio running some promo...but the lack of quality translates to wasted time for us. As a family, the quality of training will always out weigh convenience and price (even though MTL's tuition is quite a deal in itself), but that's why we drive all the way from Roseville to MTL! read more

All I can say is Wow this is the most welcoming and family like gym me my sister and brother have ever been to. Me personally guy in the middle lol have been coming to MTL since December of last year and it has been amazing, very clean, very welcoming, very beginner friendly, and just so much fun training. I have been going to this gym for awhile now and it's been wonderful! I did Mixed Martial Arts years ago and was worried about messing up my money maker(face) because I sell Cars for a living. Never happened once. One thing I love is how they adjust for your experience level and will even adapt for my Southpaw self LOL. I've had a blast with everyone as the environment is fun and welcoming. The coaches are legit too I've mainly worked with Coach Tyler, Art, and AK and all have only made me more confident in myself and my skills. Every once in awhile or if you request it there is sparring too if you would like to test your skills. They have equipment there too to use incase you are just starting out. I've tried a couple different Muay Thai gyms over the years but Muay Thai Lao is hands down the best. They have a very friendly and positive environment and you really feel like part of a team. I have plantar fasciitis which makes it very difficult to do jump rope or run. The coaches here are very understanding and modified my workout to ensure I still get cardio while protecting my foot. After being out of Muay Thai for almost a year because of health issues these guys are getting me back in shape and I'm having a ton of fun hitting things again!lol read more

I started at MTL in March of 2021 and it's been an amazing journey so far! The members are very welcoming and the class is suitable for people of all levels. Personally, I have no hand-eye coordination and I don't have a single athletic bone in my body. I can now safely say that my survival rate has gone up at LEAST 1% if I were to be in danger in the future. That alone is worth it for me to continue. I have fun learning the art, making new friends, and enjoying the comradery as we suffer- I mean, SWEAT together.
