Wow, the last time I wrote a review for Fitness Ranger was 10 years ago! I think it's time for an update. FR continued to be the BEST gym in Sacramento with about 100 classes each week. They have bootcamp, strength training, cross-fit, spin, barre, pilates and yoga. Workout is always different and written by the instructor of the day. You will never be bored or ever repeat the same workout. If 45 min. classes are not your thing, there is a well-equipped open gym and personal training. All the instructors are amazing, top-notch, and certified (shh...we even have a Kings dancer as instructor!) Excellent community of members. It's my second home and where I have met the most incredible people with shared fitness goals. read more

I've never been more consistent at a gym and I attribute that mostly to FR and the fact that it is so close to me. Overall, great community and vibe. I would say that there are two "sides" to this gym: the class versus open gym. You can obviously be both. Class sides: I do not personally do classes, but if I did, I would give it 5 stars based on my observation and the comments here. You have so many options and the instructors are great and personable. Open Gym: I've never clamoring for equipment, space, or weights. This is largely due to the number of squat racks, the number of people there that do classes (therefore not using your equipment), and the time of day I go (after 6pm or so) This is huge for me. I would say the one flaw is the lack of machines especially if that is what you are use to. I find that their turf room adds enough variance to my routine. Another flaw, for some, could be the lack of a pool, basketball hoop, or tennis/racquetball court. I just want a place close to me, where the weights are available, and is clean. Pro tip: UCD employees get a nice discount. No sign up fees and $60/mo for open gym access. Can't beat it especially if you live nearby. read more

Fitness Rangers is my favorite gym in Sacramento. They have a spin studio, barre studio, bootcamp studio, CrossFit area, and a full gym. There are locker rooms and showers. The facility is very nice and clean. There are many class offerings throughout the day, at many different times with many different instructors. The instructors are amazing. I've really enjoyed all the classes I've taken and have learned a lot and gotten stronger. The class times are convenient with a work schedule as they offer before work and after (as well as dead in the middle of the day). The bathroom is stocked with supplies including deodorant and mouthwash. They have childcare and I believe it's free. When you come for a class, you can use the gym before or after. read more

I'm so glad I made it in! Nice people, clean environment, and I have a baby at home and all of the Covid orders are being followed here. Everyone has to work together to make things safe so I clean up after myself and hope other members do too. We're provided with everything we need to do it and it's sweet that I have my own dedicated space to sweat in. REALLY nice spacious facility with lots of new equipment. I only went once since I was only in Sacramento for a weekend but I was very impressed by everything about this place. One of the trainers (I think Kyle) gave me a tour of the different gyms, spin studio, barre studio, and hot yoga/treadmill room and everything is so nice. Even the bathroom is really nice and have showers and towels. I took the ropes and straps class and that was prob the hardest I've ever worked in a class. I hate ropes so much and was sore in places I haven't been sore in a really long time. I wanted to come back the next day but I was too sore D: Unfortunately I don't live in Sacramento anymore but if I did I'd join this gym in a heart beat. read more

Over the years, I've tried just about every type of gym there is. Bottom of the barrel 24 Hour Fitness, mid-level gyms that have basic classes and decent equipment, and even boxing gyms. When I moved to Sac a few months ago, I was looking for a gym that had variety, community, and good service. After trying a couple of gyms in the area, I chose to go with Fitness Rangers. And I'm so glad I did! Fitness Rangers essentially has everything you need to get and stay in shape. Here are the main things I like about it: 1. Variety: I am a typical Millennial and get bored easily. This is particularly true with working out. At a regular gym, you might just go and do your same routine over and over again - maybe make some gains but likely get bored. At FR, there are so many different types of classes that you can mix and match whatever you want to stay engaged: bootcamps, crossfit, weight classes, yoga, cycling, pilates, and even barre. I've tried them all. Now that I am a couple months in, I have settled into a routine of 2 bootcamp and 2 crossfit classes each week with maybe 1 wildcard day doing yoga or pilates or, if I'm feeling dangerous, barre. In addition to the variety of classes, the trainers mix up the routine each time, so you show up not really knowing what will happen - other than that you will get a good work out. 2. Efficiency: Like many of FR's members, I am a a hardworking professional with not a ton of free time. Gone are the days of waiting forever for a fitness bro to get off the 5 machines he's using in between gym selfies at 24 hour fitness. You sign up for a class, show up, and 45 min - 1 hour later you walk out sweating, pleasantly sore, and happy. The trainers are very respectful of your time and always get you out on time. This makes it easy for me to jump out for a lunch class, knowing I will make it back for after lunch meetings. Sometimes I even go in for double days just because. 3. Cleanliness: This gym is super clean and nice. Not much else to say other than that clean is cool. Thanks FR janitorial staff! 4. Professionalism: Every single FR employee I have interacted with has been kind, courteous, and professional. As someone who works in business development / client relations I appreciate people who show genuine interest in their clients and take the time to get to know them. I have been going to gyms my whole life, and FR is the first place where the trainers / front desk staff actually remember my name (even when I hadn't been going for that long). It makes you feel like a valued member of a club versus just another anonymous henchman holding wrench (pardon the Austin Powers reference). Previously, gyms I went to seemed to only care about those paying for private personal training - and everyone else was just ignored. I am not currently doing personal training - though this approach to making me feel valued and not pressured definitely makes the idea of personal training a lot more attractive to me and I'll prob try it out down the road. 5. Humility: FR is a place where the most seasoned fitness fanatic and newcomer can feel welcome. Perhaps this is just how Sac is and I am used to people being jerks in the Bay Area (where I am from) - but I appreciate that there is no judgment and everyone has a strong growth mindset. I am in decent shape but am new to many of the more advanced weight training techniques (e.g. deadlifts, power cleans, etc.), and am probably the worst barre student in the solar system (I am a lumbering 6'3'' and 220 pounds), yet the trainers have always been patient with me, helped me learn, and improve. In your 30s, the goal is to stay fit without hurting yourself - and I know that if I was pressured into rushing these workouts it would not end well. All we can do is begin where we are and work each day to get a little better - that's what I've always said. 6. Value: FR's membership for unlimited classes might be a lot of money for some but I think it's totally worth it. I see fitness as an investment in my long-term physical and mental health, and $200/month to advance that is worth it. People easily drop $100 going to a bar or club. And if you're a financial fiend like me, once you've paid the $200, it motivates you to go to as many classes as possible to get the best per-class value. 7. Community: I work from home full-time and spend most of my day on Zoom calls and hanging out with my overbearing golden retriever. I am always looking for ways to build community in Sac and meet new people. FR seems to have very low staff turnover, so you eventually get to know the them. And there are many regulars you can meet during classes. I have only been going consistently for a couple months now, but I imagine after going for many months / years you would develop a nice community of fitness-minded friends. So, in conclusion to this treatise, stop scrolling through Yelp reviews and give FR a try - you won't be disappointed! read more

Took the boot camp class and really loved it! The neighborhood is super cute. Walked in and the front desk was very welcoming and informative. The instructor was super friendly and helpful, too. She was observant and had great energy to support and motivate "fitness rangers" they called us. Love it lol. The class was fast paced, which made even the hard parts a bit easier just knowing they would be done soon. You have control to push yourself and they give you all the tools and and support to do it. It's been two years since I wrote my original Yelp review of Fitness Rangers, so it's time for an update... Efficiency and value are what you get at FRBC. I find that I get the results of three gym workouts crammed into each one hour bootcamp class. That's efficient. I also get high-end, comprehensive, constant personal training from qualified personal trainers throughout each and every bootcamp workout at a fraction of the cost of hiring my own trainer. That's value. So, if you haven't realized it already, I'm still at it and still a fan. Here's what I have gotten out of the last two years: 1. I changed my shape. I lost weight and gained muscle resulting in a better look for me. 2. I'm in the best shape I have been in since I was in my early twenties. I'm knocking on the door of forty now, so that's a big deal. I get better results with two one-hour bootcamps a week than I did working out five days a week at the gym (and I was no slouch at the gym). 3. My core is stronger, resulting in a liberating reduction in the lower back issues I have had for years. 4. At a training exercise at work that required sustained sprinting, quick turns, and climbing stairs, one of the proctors said, "Wow. You are fast and agile!" I had neither been accused of being fast, nor agile, at any time in my life until that day. It felt good. Thanks FRBC. 5. I have made great new friends. We do bootcamp classes together, run together outside of FRBC, and socialize together. (I used to hate running. Now that FRBC has gotten me in shape, I actually enjoy it.) 6. I have watched scores of people show up for their first day, each one a totally different shaped person than they are after a couple months. It's simply amazing. These same people start slow like I did (some slower), and become athletes in no time. This helps keep me motivated. 7. I have gotten great personal instruction from a staff of incredible personal trainers. Their instructors keep me honest, watch my form, and gladly modify the bootcamp workouts around any past injuries, current injuries, or chronic problems anyone might have. (Think you can't do this because of a prior surgery, injury, or whatever? Think again. Get a hold of them and they will let you know if they can work around it. Chances are, they can). 8. I have had fun! Now they have opened their own state-of-the-art gym in East Sac, and their class offerings have expanded meaning I can fit in more than just two bootcamps each week. And, they have a well equipped weight room where I can do individual workouts on my own schedule. Oh, and they have childcare!! Hoorah! This is not some lame group exercise class. This is serious conditioning, for men and women of differing fitness levels, where you will be motivated to exercise like you have never been motivated before. Check them out. read more

It was the ride & tone by Maximillian that convinced me I had to keep coming back & become a member. The classes are hard work but the instructors are so inspiring, motivating and push you to go beyond!! I've never worked so hard in my life and I absolutely love it! I have taken four different classes now - spin, barre barbell academy, and shred with instructors- Maximillian, Claire, Aya, Angela, and Trevor. I look forward to trying RX Fit next. Only rona will push you to discover what a gem this gym is. When tough times backs you up to a corner you find solace at this place. Not only it offers a variety of classes but the familiar faces become the faces you get to enjoy seeing because you share something in common and that's a good sweat.... from ass kicking trainers... to high energy ...to the ongoing sassy comebacks one picks up along the way haha. You have such a great variety at this place given the circumstances but it definitely gives you a good feeling and the drive to wanna reach your fitness goals. I absolutely loved every part of being a member of Fitness Rangers! I decided to join here because I wanted classes that would kick my butt into shape but still have access to a gym with treadmills and weights for when I just wanted to do my own thing too. FR exceeded my expectations on both fronts. No workout was ever the same and I never got bored. I tended to do more Turf classes than Bootcamp because it was easier to understand what's going on. There's just a small whiteboard in the dark Bootcamp room so I found I had to really rely on the people next to me to know what moves or how many reps we were doing when (I think a projector or a couple of TVs with the workout posted on them would be very helpful). Because of this and the fact that you're usually working in groups the classes had a nice social vibe to them. Pretty much all of the instructors are awesome but Eric, Jonathan and Kito were my favorites. Signing up for classes via MindBody was really easy but I couldn't tell who was teaching when unfortunately but on the bright side it made classes like a box of chocolates because you never know what/who you're going to get. I did however know I'd be burning of box of chocolates worth of calories every time though! read more

After floundering at Cal Fit for months without a good alternative, I finally used the reviews on Yelp to steer me in the door of Fitness Rangers and am so happy I did. My experience with gyms in Sacramento has never been great. I've been to small local gyms where they promise but don't deliver on personalized training and results and large, impersonal gyms where they have all the ingredients for success but no one to help you - and are hyper-agressive when you leave or quite your membership. Fitness Rangers is what I was hoping all the previous disappointments would provide: A clean, upscale gym with top-notch classes, friendly and approachable instructors, a gym with all the amenities and trainers who actually care about your fitness goals. I've felt more inspired after three weeks here than I ever did at Cal Fit. It's not cheap, comparatively speaking, but really, how much would you pay for your health and peace of mind? Fitness Rangers Boot Camp is by far one of the best fitness decisions I've ever made. Adam, Justin and Tami want to see each person succeed, and push you to your limit. I really didn't think I'd start seeing results so quickly, but after three weeks I was seeing more toned muscles, higher energy and a lot more stamina. I feel accomplished and proud after each class because I'm doing exercises and workouts I never thought I could pull off. Fitness Rangers is a great way to learn that you can do so much more than you thought and actually get results out of your workout. Everything is done outside, without the aid of fancy machines or gyms. You'll run, do lunges, situps, pushups, pullups, and a dozen other exercises in each class hour. I can't say enough good things about this place! Let me preface by saying - I done drank the Fitness Rangers Kool-Aid and i want everyone else to drink it, too! I found this place doing a Google search and I'm so glad I did! I had just moved to Sacramento and I was looking for a new gym. I belonged to a gym in New Orleans that I LOVED so I didn't know if I'd be able to find another one I LOVE just as much but I did. I specifically wanted to find a gym that used the TRX so I think I did a search with the words "TRX," "Sacramento gym," something alone those lines. I found Fitness Rangers and discovered it was just a couple of blocks away from where I live. It's great because I run to the gym, so I feel like I'm also doing my part for the environment. I've been a member for a little over a year and a half now. I exclusively go to their boot camp classes because I enjoy the camaraderie and competition that comes with a group atmosphere. It's not really competition per se, but the motivation and extra push that comes with other people working their a**es off. The boot camp classes take place in a dark room and they play fun music, almost like working out in a nightclub. It's a different workout everyday. During the class, you switch back and forth between running on the treadmill to strength exercises on the ground using free weights, TRX straps, med balls, kettle bells, etc. The instructors are incredible. They're super nice, extremely knowledgeable, and they genuinely care about your health. The more you go, the instructors also start to know you, know your abilities, and they can tell when you're slacking so they'll call you out on it, or give you an encouraging nudge! It's truly like a little family. I know, I know - this all sounds cheesy and too good to be true, but trust me! This place is fantastic. Like I said, I've tried to get other people on the Fitness Rangers bandwagon, too. It's because I sincerely love it and believe in it and I want everyone else to experience the same joy I have. I know a lot of my friends think it's too pricey. Well, there's no doubt, it's more expensive than your typical big box gym but I think the instructors and atmosphere help keep you way more accountable than doing it on your own. I've really enjoyed my experience so far at Fitness Rangers. The classes are certainly difficult, but the instructors have struck a great balance between drill instructor and coach. Everyone is professional, the facilities are spotless and I couldn't be happier. My only two (minor) gripes: (1) they recently added barre classes and they're not included in the unlimited membership and (2) classes can get pretty crowded and you won't know until you get there (no way to view how many people are in a class beforehand). If you are looking for someone to kick your a** into shape, this is your place. I've only been to the boot camp class but it was quite the experience. They turn the lights down and the music up. There is a whole wall of treadmills and the other wall had trx ropes. This is by far the hardest and best workout I've done in 50 minutes. You will work muscles that you didn't even know you had. The instructors are great. They push you just hard enough without killing you. They are very encouraging and cater to all fitness levels. I would say that it would be a very very tough class if you haven't done any running in a while. I love boot camp and feel so good afterwards. The schedule is very accommodating to people who work and they have weekend classes also. The gym is very clean and modern and the gym is in a good location. read more

Barre is one of the most challenging fitness pursuits I've ever taken on [and I've tried a LOT!], but with continued, dedicated practice, you're sure to see results. Absolutely love working out here! I go to the workout classes with my coworkers during our lunch period, and I get a great sweat in and feel much better for the rest of the day. The classes are challenging while not overbearing. The trainers are well educated and are always happy to assist during classes. There is a spacious weight room, cycling room, and tredmill class area along with a turf space. I know they have a kid daycare program but I am unsure of the details since I do not have children. They also encourage people to continue attending through rewards programs. Everyone is personal and knows your name. If you end up wanting to work out on your own, there's plenty of space for this as well. The bathrooms and showers are always clean and are quite spacious so you don't feel like you're clumped together. There are locks for the lockers, but it may be better to bring your own. Overall, I recommend this place to anyone who wants to get better. read more

Omg!!! What can I say?! My friend and I just took a free boot camp class today at 4:30pm and boy was it def def a killer workout!!! Not to mention my friend and I are pretty active I run daily, she focuses a lot on weights Etc.... The start of the class was already hard for us, running an combining weights wow!! We walked in not expecting to walk out drench in SWEAT!!! The instructor was pretty easy going an let's you know when your doing something wrong to fix it! Let's just say this boot camp ain't no joke!! I will def be coming back!! I'm trying to loose this weight I gained after being married an I'm sure with this boot camp classes I will for sure tone up!
