Fun was had. I came here with my husband for something out of the norm on a Saturday night. I was pleased that we were among a small group in the studio that afternoon painting our pieces. I painted a football item, since they were running a promotion to waive the studio fee for each football themed ceramic. That removed the fee for one of us. That said, it came out to be a bit pricey altogether: $42 for the both of us, with the one studio fee removed. The bulk of that was payment for the pieces. A star dish I painted was $15 (it said $14 on the bottom, which kind of puzzled me, but I figured their employee knew the prices better than me). I enjoyed the experience, though, so I can live with the money spent on it. I would love to come back with friends. read more

wish I could give it zero stars. they were closed during business hour. what made it worse was when i came at 5 on Thursday. they were already closed, when they were supposed to be closed at 7. there was a note on the door that said "reopens at 3pm" but it wasn't. read more

First off, I must say, it is easy to miss this little place! When you turn right on Station Ave (coming from Lancaster Ave from Philly) it's on your right, next to the train station parking lot. My GPS turned me around a bit leading me out to the next street. Ok the review: I came here through a party my friend gave. It was for the back room but spilled into the main area since so many people came! There were only two ladies working with us and I felt a little bad because everyone asked so many questions. The ladies patiently answered, even though some of them were the same. I really had fun and love the concept of choosing a pottery piece to paint. There were many pieces to choose from and ranged within the $7-$25 range, depending on the size and carving details of the piece. A whale mug was about $16, a small owl bank was about $14, etc. I was fortunate to have a coupon for the $7 studio use fee, thanks to my friend giving me a heads up. You pay for everything upfront and they write your info and pottery choice on a form. However, I was a little disappointed to find out I would have to wait a whole week to get my pottery piece. I wished the ladies working there told us the process before we started our creations. In any case, the following week I got my piece and it was packaged in a paper bag wrapped in more paper. It came out so cute! My colors were very vibrant. I totally had fun painting my piece and I would definitely set up a party of my own here. :-) This would be great for a Ladies' Night or Little Girls Day! I noticed when I picked up my piece, it was pretty quiet during the early afternoon on a Tuesday, so I assume it's a great time to come for a peaceful experience. ;-) read more

I love this place. The staff are all very nice and helpful and you can have birthday parties here in a back room. They have a great selection of ceramic pieces for you to paint- legitimate kitchen ware such as plates, bowls, mugs and stuff and kid friendly stuff like piggy banks and little statuettes as well. There is a good selection of various paint colors and special effect paints (glitter and such). The prices are reasonable..on average i spend around 15 on a piece and there is a 7 dollar studio fee which is very reasonable. It takes a week to get your piece back and I have never had any problem with them losing anything or breaking anything. I have made a few Christmas gifts here and have a few pieces decorating my shelves as well. The only thing is the parking is awful. That's not their fault, that's just suburban square. read more

I brought my 3.5 year old for a fun father and son project. Making a birthday gift for mommy. He loved it and had so much fun. I enjoyed watching him. I tried working on my own project but my son decide to add his artistic touch. I recommend The Mud Room. read more

My son loves this place. I always take him here and spend about an hour to two for some fun mother and son time together. He enjoys picking out his own pottery to paint. They have a large selection to choose from. You pay for a studio fee plus the cost of the (pottery) item you pick out. Turn around time is one week. After they glaze and bake the pottery it always looks so much better. My son made me a jewelry plate and I absolutely love it. This is a great place for kids to make things they can use everyday such as piggy banks, plates and bowls or they can make gifts for friends and family. There is no schedule so I love the convenience of being able to just walk in whenever I'm free. read more

Love the option for fusing glass projects! I've never tried fusing glass before, but I am totally hooked after trying it at The Mud Room. This cute little place seems like it's only pottery from the name, but they also offer projects with mosaics and fusing glass. While visiting family in the area, my daughter and I went in to check out the pottery options. We were planning on coming back at another time, but once we caught sight of the glass, we ended up spending a really fun afternoon with our fused glass plate projects. We were given a basic tutorial from one of the staff, which was enough to get us going. The staff regularly checked on us. Fused glass can be tricky because the glass is not very forgiving when it comes to cutting it (sometimes it cuts beautifully, and other times, it does not). But it's worth it in the end! I'm hooked, to say the least and only wish that we lived locally. My advice is to take a look on Pinterest for some ideas ahead of time to get you going. Overall, I thought the prices were quite reasonable and we ended up going back several times! Check it out, you'll enjoy it! read more

Mudroom is a lovely paint in your own pottery studio in the heart of downtown Ardmore. I went in to paint there for the first time in December. It was a weekday, and there was only one other person painting at the same time as me. I must say that the employees should keep their chatter to a minimum when people are painting (or at least do it quietly), that was pretty annoying because I came there to get some peace and quiet and a bit of stress relief, and they were talking across the room at eachother the whole time. They also seemed disinterested in helping answer questions. Also, no one called me to pick up my piece, and I had to call them 3 weeks later to see if it was ready. Hopefully that's not the norm, and I'd try them again. read more

I recently had my daughters birthday party in the back room. The staff is super friendly and did a great job I would definitely do it again, but it's probably best for kids 8 and older (that is just my opinion) Great local place and it was very cute and they were very accomodating to my demands (like saving pottery to the side for the party two weeks in advance) Ariel is a gem and super sweet! She did a great job running the party. AND most importantly, I didn't have the party at my house! YAY! read more

Not the best place we've ever been to do pottery, but not the worst either. Previous studios we've been to have had magazines and design samples to explore for ideas. This place has a few scant pieces they've painted themselves - none of which were very inspiring of the creative juices. Not a huge selection of pottery but varied enough. The tiles they have to show colors didn't easily coordinate to the bottles of paint on multiple shelves (i.e., colors on tiles not on shelf). I used more than 3 coats, too, and still came out streaky which makes me wonder if they water down their paints. We watched an employee water down a puff paint to get it to work so... I may be on to something. We've also never experienced a "studio fee" before when going to these places... all the costs were in the price of the pottery. Here it's the cost of pottery PLUS $7 per person studio fee. Two mugs were like $45 ... that's pretty pricey for streaky finished products. I agree with previous review that the girls that work in there are very distracting and chatty. They did check in on us though and make sure we had what we needed. It's just such a tiny cramped space with quiet music in the background that you can't really avoid the loud conversations. I don't think we'll go back. read more

Neat place, great idea. We've been many times. The staff leave a lot to be desired though. Seemingly highschool or college aged gals who are clearly uninterested and indifferent and maybe even annoyed about working there. A bit of enthusiasm would go a long way to make it a more fun place to visit. read more

Our 7 year old son painted a donut bank and ice cream cone here. It was a ton of fun. There is a huge selection of pottery to paint and a nice space for painting it. There's also glass fusing. We didn't try it, but the items folks made looked nice. Great and helpful staff. We'll be back! read more

What a great place to take the kids! Unlike the other review that I read on here, I found the staff to be more than helpful and excited! We painted pottery for hours and everyone was very attentive...even going as far as helping my son write his name on his plate with the puff paint. I was very excited when I got the call that my stuff was ready - 3 days before it was supposed to be ready! Location is great too. Right at the train station and lots of shopping and places to eat. We take our family of 5 here at least once a month!!!! read more
