His prior groomer, was mobile and would come to our house, so I could be right there with him. He's a registered Service Animal, and comes everywhere with me - we both have a bit of separation anxiety. The moment I walked into the facility, I was put to ease. There were two dogs (from the same household), that had already been groomed, in one corner, and they were COMPLETELY content and happy. I then found out this was their first time there. To me, that shows a lot. I had been putting, Lou's, groom off, bc I was in search of the perfect place. I didn't want him to be traumatized. Like I said, we rarely are apart. Since I had put it off, he was overgrown and parts of his fur were matted. I gave them "permission", or better yet, put my full trust into them, to do what would be most comfortable for Louie, so if they needed to shave him, i said that would be fine- just to use their best judgement. When I got there (only 2.5 hours later!), I was amazed at how beautiful he looked. He smells wonderful, they brushed his teeth, cut his nails, expelled his anal glands, cut him and gave him a Thorough bath. They also dried him. They had to shave some of his body, but left his face and tail. Have I mentioned he looks FANTASTIC? I'm so pleased and recommend, Doggie Washerette, to any and all my family, friends and loved ones. I will, most certainly, be back to bring my pooch for all of his grooming needs. Thanks again to the lovely staff (especially the owner, Ethel, who made my Lou, feel so at ease) at, Doggie Washerette - Louie looks PERFECT! Have a wonderful weekend. I have a 13yo Shih Tzu who, until recently, LOVED our long daily walks. He's fit and looks like the Apollo Creed of his breed. Sadly, Kairo suffers from heart disease, has to take 4 different meds, and wheezes when he breathes. He's now special needs. His regular groomer is not available due to a family emergency, then upgraded to no longer gro0ming. Kairo's hair was growing excessively, and he started to quickly mat which become increasingly uncomfortable. After calling dozens of groomers who had no dates available until Nov, I finally booked a next day appointment with Pet Smart. I explained Kai's fragility in concise detail, agreed to stay, and sign a waiver, but once I arrived, they treated us like we had the plague! The Manager resolved, but no way I was letting them touch my Kai. I sat in the car frustrated! Dear Lord, who has the kindness to groom special needs dogs? Google hears my question and provides a few choices. First up was THE DOGGIE WASHERETTE, which - I called based on the EXPERTISE listed on website and left a message. Then took a closer look, read the medical updates, and assumed she was not available. I asked God to continue blessing her journey and called a few others. About an hour later, SHE CALLED ME BACK! Ms. Ethyl explained her "specialization" with dogs in Kairo's condition, we made an appointment just 3 days later, and ...WOW! She treated Kai like he was a newborn baby! He looked and felt fabulous after she gently relieved him of all of his knots, filed his "stilettos" nails down so he can walk on his paw pads, even treated the yeast between his toes, and I was so incredibly THANKFUL! The Doggie Washerette is a magical place run by an unbelievably, amazing, human being - Ms. Ethyl. Kai was quietly knocked out 5 minutes into our ride home - feeling sensational. I am…read morewriting it because I wish someone had warned me to ask the right questions and go in with your eyes open because what happened to my dog Sage could happen to yours. On June 25th, I dropped Sage off at approximately 7:30 AM for a supervised daycare session. At 11:30 AM I received a call that there had been an "incident." I left work immediately to find my dog with a deep, open gash beneath his eye, bleeding and in pain. Another dog in his play group had bitten him. I rushed Sage to an emergency veterinary clinic where the wound required surgical stitches to close. He will carry a permanent scar under his eye for the rest of his life. I paid upfront before they would even begin treatment. When I reached out to the owner, Mickey, seeking reimbursement and answers, I was told the incident was an inherent risk of group play and that the waiver I signed at enrollment limited their responsibility. I have not received reimbursement, and the matter is still unresolved. Also, I was told in person there wasn't any video evidence but the owner via email said that she reviewed the video evidence and can not share it with me. If you choose to bring your pet here, I urge you to: ask specifically how dogs are evaluated and grouped by temperament, ask what the supervision ratio is in the play area at all times, ask what happens if your dog is injured and who bears the financial responsibility, and read every word of the waiver before you sign it. Also, ask for a tour of the facility and how do you check on your dog when you are not around. I loved the idea of this place and I wanted it to work. But after what Sage went through and how it was handled, I feel a responsibility to share this so other pet owners can make a fully informed decision.

And just last month, I took my latest addition in to get up-to-date on her vaccinations & to receive calming meds for a four-day road trip (my cat only rides in my car for vet visits, so I wanted to be prepared for any potential anxiety during the 10+ hour drive each day). This was the first time I met Dr. B's son, who started off by saying, "I LOVE cats." This put me at great ease because I knew my spoiled little furball would be in excellent hands despite just meeting the new veterinarian. Everything went even better than I imagined & he gave me a thorough explanation on what to expect when administering Gabapentin to my cat. During her exam, he also mentioned that one of her teeth was almost ready to fall out which took me by complete surprise! He showed me the plaque buildup & I guess I hadn't realized that it had actually been some time since her last appointment...back when her little chompers were sparkling white. I was advised to get an enzymatic toothpaste for pets (which I actually purchased just a week before her appointment, go figure) & although I said she probably wouldn't let me come close to her teeth ever again, he assured me without the slightest bit of hesitation: "You can do it!" We also discussed diet & more specifically, taurine content in cat kibble. The doctor wished us safe travels & we were on our way. *I wanted the Gabapentin as a "just in case" & fortunately, didn't have to use it. My gal was as sweet as pie & only disrupted my sleep by smacking my face at precisely 3 AM every morning during our trip to play. Meow!
