I have used Alexandria Pet Care a few times now, since the people who used to watch my cats moved out of the area. The team that handles my visits have been wonderful. It is apparent they love pets and ensuring their proper care. The reports I receive after each visit put my mind at ease, particularly since one of my kitties is wary of people she doesn't (and, at times, does) know. I also enjoy the photos. The app that APC uses is a user-friendly interface that allows you to handle virtually all business with APC, and the team sends reminders to confirm the scheduled visits a couple or more days prior. As others have commented, make no mistake about it: the services cost and sometimes, the sticker shock gets me, particularly considering the circumstances for the visit. There is a weekend charge, per day, per pet, and a holiday fee, per day, per pet whenever there is a holiday or it's APC's dedicated holiday season. While I expect to pay to have someone briefly interrupt their own holiday plans to handle the things with my kitties that I cannot, boy oh boy does it add up and quickly. A loyal customer discount or customer appreciation savings here and there would definitely be welcomed! That said, I know I can leave my pets in good, competent hands and that my home is secured, as well. They will tend to plants and pick up the mail, if you ask, and they do leave things orderly. I love the notes, the pictures, and the care they show my pets. I know they have been kind to my pets and that's the most important thing to me. I definitely recommend and will use again. read more

I have been a 3 year client of Alexandria Pet Care. They provided walks multiple times per week for my dog and pet sitting for both my cat and dog when we traveled, including for extended 2 week trips. They are extremely responsive and quickly accommodate changes and requests. They are reliable and kept my dog and cat safe, happy, and cared for. My mom remarked that one caregiver was extremely patient and gentle with my dog. She was shocked with how much effort went into my dog's care. I should also note that as a former full-time dog walker and pet sitter for over two years with another company, I have very high standards based on my own care and effort when I did this kind of work and they met my standards. I picked them based on reviews here on Yelp, and was absolutely blown away by their professionalism, attention to detail, knowledge, and business operation. Communication with the team is impeccable. I was impressed by the intake interview, it was clear each member was experienced with all types of pets, as well as the area. They asked all the right questions, and were clearly paying attention to instructions. The pet portal website they use is great for making sure you can leave instructions and information, contact info, etc. It is easy to use, access, and understand. It was extremely easy to schedule a visit and pay the invoice afterwards. I took a business trip for 2 days, and was highly impressed. The team showed up when promised, paid attention to feeding instructions, and took extra time to play with and comfort my cat while I was away. They provided a photo and visit feedback promptly. They had no issues accessing my building and dealing with the front desk for keys, which I appreciated. Additionally, I noticed that they took the time to wash bowls and didn't leave any trash (stinky cat food cans or litter); they even folded the kitchen hand towel. My logic isn't twisted; I didn't hire a company based on a negative review. In fact, the review was not negative; the author of the review was negative. Anna G. indelibly castigated a small business owner, Elizabeth, because she phoned/wrote Anna G. in an attempt to redress her complaints. That bears repeating because the behavior that infuriated Anna G. is the very behavior that experts agree excellent customer service is predicated on. I don't know Elizabeth or Anna G. personally. I couldn't pick either of them out of a line up, but I am a CRM academic and professional that can analyze reviews expertly. I was impressed that Elizabeth took the appropriate measures to redress an unhappy customer and protect her brand. Elizabeth and her team continued to impress me as animal lovers. The women that cared for my Wonder-Cat came over in advance to meet me and the Wonder-Cat. They provided an overview of their business and wanted to learn all about my Wonder-Cat's habits, health, her hiding spots, what soothes her...they prepared to care for my cat exactly as I do. Every day that my cat was visited by a sitter, they created a daily log (attached). The sitter even called me the first day to let me know that they were able to successfully enter my home and tend to the Wonder-Cat. Her litter was scooped daily but they didn't leave it my trash; it was disposed of outside my apartment. They gave the Wonder-Cat her medicine; they turned her heating pad on low to soothe her arthritic legs, and they spent time just hanging out and loving on her. In advance of my departure I filled out a pet profile (attached) thus I was confident that if there was an emergency that Alexandria Pet Sitters were thoroughly prepared to handle it. I've called on Alexandria Pet Care several times and they are always available and eager to help me, even last minute; they set my mind at ease when I am far from home and my Wonder-Cat. read more

You have to understand that we pay you, not vice versa, and you work for us, not vice versa. Harassment in the form of multiple unnecessary phone calls and e-mails is not a way to regain trust; it is, however, a good way to get reported to the police. We have never complimented your services, except when we had hired you a few years ago. Unfortunately, things have changed to the worse since then. You market yourself as pet sitting professions; let alone pet sitting skills, or to be exact their complete lack thereof, it is extremely unprofessional to lie to and about your customers and try to turn things around as if it were somehow their fault when it was really yours. read more

This pet sitting service has been amazing, I don't have to worry about my cat while I am away. They are well worth every penny! Previously, I had used a different pet sitting service and had a terrible experience over the 2017 holiday season. I love the fact that they come to your home, meet your pet, and introduce themselves before using their service for the first time. My little furball is timid and shy, and does not like new people. APC has used the same sitter the three or so times we have used their service over the past year and a half. I appreciate the same sitter coming back, my cat is more likely to come out and interact if she is familiar with the person. Alexandria Pet Care is by far one of the best pet sitting services out there--I would recommend them to anyone, but especially if you have pets with medical issues. The fact that all employees have some kind of veterinary experience was what really made up my mind to use them in the first place. I used APC many times over the past year for my 2 senior cats, one of whom is a diabetic and needs insulin. From the very beginning, Laura put me at ease and I felt confident she could handle any potential medical problems that could come up. (Also loved that the people who came to my in-home consultation were the ones who did the actual pet sitting.) I trust the people here. That's all I can say. My husband and I have been using them over the years and they have never let us down. We don't need a pet sitter that often, but when we do they are always spot on. Our last dog was elderly and sick and there were times when we needed special care for her, or even had to cancel at the last minute because she was too sick for us to travel. We've been using Alexandria Pet Care for the past year and a half. They are extremely organized and reliable. We don't need walking everyday, but periodically based on our work schedules/short trips. They do an excellent job of communicating during/after walks and they are much more professional than other dog walking companies we've used. I like that they always have a new employee tag along with a familiar walker for your pet, so your dog is never seeing someone for the first time on their own. APC is fantastic. They were able to provide pet sitting services for my cat on a very short notice, and as a brand new client. They did a home visit prior to my vacation to go over all the details and meet my cat. They visited twice a day while I was gone, and left a detailed report after every visit. My cat is very skittish and anti-social, but they were so patient with her, waiting for her to crawl out from her hiding spots so they could pet her. When I got back after a week away, I could tell that my cat was happy and content while I was gone. They are very responsive over email when setting up appointments and visits, which is so helpful.
