Must see if you're in the area during September or October. Fun to watch the horses grind the sorghum cane, smell the sorghum being cooked down, and walk right into the mill. Any of the workers can explain the process of sorghum making. Samples of sorghum are on site, as well as sorghum suckers, cookies, breads, honey and other Mennonite bakery items. Sorghum syrup is squeezed and boiled from cane by Mark and Sherry Guenther in a small town east of Nashville. You can drive there in the fall to watch them make their award winning delight. You can also see the horse-powered sorghum mill press the tasty syrup at Tennessee festivals. It has a special natural taste with a little bite to it. I use it for biscuit or pancake syrup. We were in Gatlinburg back in June and we drove the Roaring Fork Motor Trail. At the end was a small store selling a variety of items. They happened to be selling jars of Muddy Pond Sorghum Mill sorghum. Ive loved sorghum syrup since I was a child. Im 63 now. So anyway I bought some and have been enjoying it all summer. The jar is about empty so I hope I can order some more? Its the best ive ever had. read more

If your into nice afternoon drives in the fall, then this is for you. Lots of scenery and a free tour of the sourgum process. Made the same way molasses is made except with sourgum. Can't say that it tastes any good, imo, it tastes like burnt molasses. Probably best for cooking. read more

Every year that my wonderful mother-in-law went back to Tennessee, she'd bring me a jug of Muddy Pond Sorghun Mill. I live in Washington state - I've found nothing around here that equal the yummy flavor of this tasty treat. I use it on pancake, waffles, bisquits, and crepes wityh a few added strawberries - it's great! I've had a jug in the cupboard for about seven years. Can anyone tell me if it is still usable after that long? It has never been opened - it is still sealed. I hope it is still usable, since my mom-in-law passed away a few years back, and I haven't had any GOOD stuff for quite some time. My wife wants to keep the jug sealed - I want to use what is in it, if it is okay. This is great stuff. I recommend it to anyone who wants a delicious treat. read more
