Staff - the owner Ann and our teacher, Christina are absolutely amazing. 2 of our kiddos attended their classes for ~3 years and we loved the overall experience. Use of different medias, the overall process, availability of camps and even showcasing your kids' artwork at the local library or Art Center - are all amazing things that we experienced here. Our kids absolutely loved coming in and spending every Monday creating. COVID was a challenge for everyone, but Ann and Christina put together an amazing plan to engage with students virtually. While most extra curriculum activities (i.e. sports) were not available, Mosaic Arts Loft provided needed activity to our kids and they were looking forward to their weekly classes. If you are looking at options for your kids in the area - I highly recommend them. Here are my 8 year old's thoughts; he called it "a really fun place to make great slime" - you can make really cool textures of slime, including "cloud" -- the kid recommends "clear" and "butter" because they are the most stretchy and squishy of all the options - you can add smells and accessories - the employees are really nice and tell you what to do - it's satisfying when it's mixing because all the colors come together As a parent, I'll say this makes for one expensive playdate. At $30 a pop it adds up, and the hands-on time is maybe 20 or 25 minutes total. Still, every kid there was having a good time. And there are a lot of fun mix-ins so that everyone makes something unique and uber-personalized. And the slime is still top toy at home on day 2. You can make reservations ahead of time, but those seem loosey-goosey because walk-ins are also welcome any time.

Parking on the street if you're lucky but there is also a parking garage and upper level outside parking as well. We took our daughter here to do the DIY slime experience as her birthday present and she had a great time! We were the only ones there on a Thursday mid morning so we got to have a one-on-one experience which was nice. The steps to this DIY experience were clearly displayed and explained on each of the walls and the person there did a great job explaining everything and helping her slime become less sticky. (Omg so sticky lol) They had a few different kinds of slime bases to choose from, then you pick a color and a scent. You take this to the mixing station with the pretty teal Kitchen Aid mixers to mix and it smelled so good! (She picked marshmallow so it smelled like birthday cake!) The next step is to add mix-ins like confetti balls or glitter and little sprinkle like items. You take all this to the table station and mix mix mix and make sure the slime is the stickiness you want. This is probably the most fun part for her and I'm sure other kids because you get to stretch and fold and play with the slime! The last step is to pick 3 big toppers to put on top of your slime container to take home. The whole thing was $27 and I thought it was worth it for the fun special experience! It looks like they also offer workshops and parties so we will be interested in checking those out in the future!

I was told that this is an artists cooperative and operates as a non-profit to promote fine art in the community. I was very impressed the class started with meditation and breathing exercises, then a brief tour of the studio and short explanation of how to begin our own personal process. I love the piece I made: it is nothing like what I usually do, but through talking a bit during class about personal situations, I was able to let some things go and it really shows in my work. I will definitely be returning. Just being in that environment is calming and very welcoming. even if you're not an artist, I would highly recommend giving one of these classes a try.

I bought a Groupon for 4 when seeking out wine and painting. It was a gift for my dad for father's…read moreday. My family ended up using our Groupon on Saturday, Aug 24th at the hopcity tavern and market. Pros: -So many options! Groupon doesn't expire for a while, and there are tons of painting events in the Portland area, especially on weekends. Painting events are commonly in downtown Portland, up north by Vancouver at the Red Lion Hotel, in Hillsboro, and there seems to be a few in Happy Valley and Gresham. Yaymaker seems to be good about catering to people from all around town. -You know what to expect beforehand. They show photos of what you're going to be painting, so you can book the class with the painting that appeals to you. -Our painting expert was knowledgeable, fun, and extremely friendly. She provided a very positive, easy going atmosphere. She played music in between instructions and gave us plenty of time to catch up. She was happy to take photos for us. -The class length is generous: about 2 hours. Everyone at my class seemed to be able to finish. A couple cons: -No complimentary wine. The advertising is misleading. They give a note that "This event requires all attendees must be of legal drinking age". My family and came in expecting to enjoy a glass of wine too, and we thought that we had paid for it (even with the Groupon discount, this class was expensive). I would've booked a class under a different business if I had known there wouldn't be any wine. -Groupon isn't actually cheaper. They have $10 coupons all the time on their website. I wanted to have a bigger group but assumed the best price is when buying for 4 people. I wish I had known, then I possibly would've considered adding more people to my party. Overall, it was a positive experience. I'm just glad I know what to expect now!

I purchased a Groupon for a PaintNite class. I registered for the class (and had to pay a $10…read moreuncharge for the class that the Groupon didn't cover). We showed up for the class and waited 30 minutes after the start time and the teacher never showed up. This was the Portland, Oregon class at the Broadway Grill location. When I emailed PaintNight for a refund, they never apologized and even told me that fees are normally not refundable but they "made an exception" and refunded only my upcharge amount. They also said I had to go through Groupon to get a refund for my voucher (which is another nightmare, but doesn't reflect on PaintNite). I cannot recommend anyone ever register for the Portland, OR class. You might not actually get a class.
