I bought a Groupon for 4 when seeking out wine and painting. It was a gift for my dad for father's…read moreday. My family ended up using our Groupon on Saturday, Aug 24th at the hopcity tavern and market. Pros: -So many options! Groupon doesn't expire for a while, and there are tons of painting events in the Portland area, especially on weekends. Painting events are commonly in downtown Portland, up north by Vancouver at the Red Lion Hotel, in Hillsboro, and there seems to be a few in Happy Valley and Gresham. Yaymaker seems to be good about catering to people from all around town. -You know what to expect beforehand. They show photos of what you're going to be painting, so you can book the class with the painting that appeals to you. -Our painting expert was knowledgeable, fun, and extremely friendly. She provided a very positive, easy going atmosphere. She played music in between instructions and gave us plenty of time to catch up. She was happy to take photos for us. -The class length is generous: about 2 hours. Everyone at my class seemed to be able to finish. A couple cons: -No complimentary wine. The advertising is misleading. They give a note that "This event requires all attendees must be of legal drinking age". My family and came in expecting to enjoy a glass of wine too, and we thought that we had paid for it (even with the Groupon discount, this class was expensive). I would've booked a class under a different business if I had known there wouldn't be any wine. -Groupon isn't actually cheaper. They have $10 coupons all the time on their website. I wanted to have a bigger group but assumed the best price is when buying for 4 people. I wish I had known, then I possibly would've considered adding more people to my party. Overall, it was a positive experience. I'm just glad I know what to expect now!

We showed up for the class and waited 30 minutes after the start time and the teacher never showed up. This was the Portland, Oregon class at the Broadway Grill location. When I emailed PaintNight for a refund, they never apologized and even told me that fees are normally not refundable but they "made an exception" and refunded only my upcharge amount. They also said I had to go through Groupon to get a refund for my voucher (which is another nightmare, but doesn't reflect on PaintNite). I cannot recommend anyone ever register for the Portland, OR class. You might not actually get a class.

So much of what Phil teaches spills into other areas of life too--areas where perfectionism and self-criticism reside. He helps us be more gentle with ourselves as we approach creativity. The energy in the room is not competitive, it is supportive and helpful. People return, year after year, to retake the "beginner" classes, in part to stay in touch with the beginner mindset and sense of wonder. The Drawing Studio is wonderful!

Phil Sylvester does something much more valuable: he helps you to ignore critical thinking when you paint (or draw--he has drawing classes, too). Keeping your left brain from sabotaging your artwork can be a formidable task for some people, myself included. Phil basically helps you become that 5 year old kid with crayons again, where you have no expectations of what your art is supposed to be. His exercises encourage you just to paint, while he cites mantras from himself and other artists amid occasional music. This process leads you down a path where you find yourself and lose yourself at the same time. I can honestly say, in the short time I have been painting, that Phil has made me a better artist. Any class which does that is a good thing. So I suggest taking classes that teach techniques and color theory as well as taking the types of classes offered at the Drawing Studio. Every time you expand your horizons as an artist your soul will benefit.

Go online, Memorize Cancellation/WildCraft Studio Cancellation Policy. They also lied, that the certificate was used, when it was cancelled, before they expired! 'no refunds will be provided'. We're asking $300. It's a lost! A GOOD Customer Service, can be forgiving when someone is in crisis, and to me, as a businesswoman, I'd rather issue a refund and make that customer happy . . . than lost a customer, because that customer will tell another and tell another and tell another.

While you can only get a full refund 24hrs after purchase, if you cancel 30 days ahead you can get credit for the full amount paid to use for a different class. They also have discounts for all peoples of North American indigenous descent and a number of free class scholarships for BIPOC students of art, craft and design as well as BIPOC K-12 public school teachers!

This workshop is small but full of bright colors and farm house vibe with lots of fun projects to do. We were greeted warmly by the friendly staff and this workshop started promptly with detailed instructions to explore 20 different scents and discussion of their categories. Both Zoe and Elizabeth were super helpful in guiding us to choose adjacent or complimentary scents for our candles, and the hardest part was choosing only 2 scents to make your candle! You reserved this experience online but you can also upgrade to a different containers (a tea cup or pumpkin - so cute!) and add extra candles onsite. The candle will need at least an hour to 2 hours to set so we were free to walk around Orenco station and got to snack and catch up while our candles were drying. My friend was able to pick her up that night but mine was not set yet so I had to come back during the weekend. They have so many cool projects to choose from and a good selection of beverages for purchase. I will definitely be back with other friends to try out other projects in the future. I was very impressed the class started with meditation and breathing exercises, then a brief tour of the studio and short explanation of how to begin our own personal process. I love the piece I made: it is nothing like what I usually do, but through talking a bit during class about personal situations, I was able to let some things go and it really shows in my work. I will definitely be returning. Just being in that environment is calming and very welcoming. even if you're not an artist, I would highly recommend giving one of these classes a try.

As a woman of Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) and Greek parents, I was truly excited to see this production. It was well publicized on social media, so I shared out and encouraged friends to join me. It's opening weekend, and I attended the Sunday matinee to attend the opening speech given by Nimiipuu artist, Kellen Trenel, responsible for costumes and set design. His talents stem from generations of traditional beadwork, weaving, and design. The collage of personal, familial, and upcycled modern pieces were evident and truly added a special touch. The setting is small and intimate, but if I'd offer any suggestions, it would be to provide a mic for any Q&A. The story was comedic at times, and made you pause to really absorb the message. The ending packed a punch and brought tears to my eyes! Hats off to all who were involved in bringing this moving play to the area. Hillsboro is a beautiful town that I've not visited, but am glad to have had the opportunity to see more of the region.

My office is in Hillsboro and I live in Beaverton so this is truly a perfect location for me to see a show. The location is also grand when you consider how many great spots are available for getting food before the show or late night places for after the show. The parking is not ideal, especially if you have mobility issues. The parking is also not horrible - you will likely be a few blocks away so you are going to want to plan accordingly. Downtown Hillsboro does become a ghost town after 7pm so you can leisurely walk back to your car after the show. When you walk into the space it seems fairly small based on the lobby. This is just where you check in and grab some wine. The theater itself is a nice layout although you will want to be mindful to go to your right and sit far right if you are in need of a restroom a lot or else you may get stuck. There is not a bad seat in the house from what I could see. The stage and audience seating proximity is pretty perfect and the theater has a very open feel to it so I never felt cramped or like the air was stagnant etc. This is just a great place to see something unique. If A Clockwork Orange is any indication of the quality of shows put on at the Vault - I can't wait to see another show here.

I appreciated having the option of clean up services for an additional fee. I also used their dishes and they are beautiful. The cost for this venue is extremely affordable for such a classy place. My daughter walked in and said it felt like she was in a dream! Thank you again for providing such a beautiful venue.
