We had a truly excellent curry night last night at the classy and welcoming New Mughal Palace balti house.
Having just got back from almost a month in India, I have pretty high standards when it comes to a curry, but Mughal Palace rose to meet the challenge! The food was simply excellent, it is Bangladeshi cuisine with a very impressive and extensive menu. We got the onion Barji, saag paneer, house special chicken curry, birijani and peshawari naan. It was a banquet and all perfectly cooked and presented.
The service was also impeccable, our waiter was charismatic and suggested dishes when I asked what he would recommend. There was complimentary liqueurs and fruit after we had finished, and a hot towel to wipe off our hands. They even opened the door for us and shook our hand on the way out.
The decor was a bit funny with some blue neon lighting on the walls and the music was a combo of Hindi Bollywood classics mixed with r and b. It was still charming however.
4.5 stars: the only thing I'd say is that it did take a long time for the food to arrive after ordering, I think about 45 minutes. It was well worth it when it did though! I'd recommend going perhaps a little earlier than the time you want to eat...
Highly recommended, I very much look forward to going again! read more
