My review is based on the fact, I went to this store without a "mission". My family wanted to go in…read morefor something and I decided I would browse to see what they had to offer. It's astonishing that I have only been in this store twice, given the fact that I grew up in Brunswick...Anyway, i finally made it in. It's a smaller store, that feels like what you might encounter in a larger city. It was neat and clean. I couldn't really tell how aisles were organized, however, because I was browsing, it didn't stress me out. We encountered one staff member who "assisted" my sister and it was fine, very transactional, which is fine and again, what you might expect in a big city. Staff at the register were fast and efficient, didn't engage in too much conversation, just supportive of fruit pies I purchased. LOL They had a lot of offerings from some of our favorite local businesses! Standard Baking Company Little Lads Two Fat Cats Union Bagel The prices were competitive as well! They have fresh produce, meat, dairy, eggs, seasonings...pretty much everything you can find at Whole Foods but at a smaller more local scale. I can't wait to go back the next time in town.

Every single time I visit Morning Glory I spend way more money than I was expecting to (and leave…read morewith way more stuff than I came for)! How can I not when they carry products I... a) have never heard of b) have always wanted to try and had never been able to find before c) can't find anywhere else From healthy looking organic produce, to a plethora of gluten-free cereals, to the odd can of locally made beer that was sold out months ago in Portland, to frozen and refrigerated foods not carried elsewhere (like vegan salami! like vegan cheeses you've probably never heard of! like locally made - not just artisans from Cumberland County, but Androscoggin and Sagadahoc too!). Morning Glory is truly a natural foods store paradise. I drive out of my way to come here - I think it's probably the best natural foods store in Maine! - because there's so much right about this little local spot (prices, variations on themes of items, the smell [how can we bottle this up?], the candle and other home goods/gift options, the seasonal items, the staff seems more willing to help than ever before, even the space itself is welcoming despite it being overly crowded with shelves and people). I'm proud to support my local independent grocer!

Their selection of vitamins, cleaning products, skincare, herbs, and teas is one of the best in the state for a small, local health store. In the Summer and Autumn, their selection of local produce increases. This year they have done a great job with local organic seedless watermelon and a nice variety of local organic vegetables. The dry goods section is not as expansive as one might find at a big box grocery store, which feels pretty reasonable and is even one of the reasons the store is nice.. it is a genuine, locally-opened small business.. not powering a huge space or warehouse to hold 12 varieties of one packaged item where 1 or 2 types are great. There are still many staple items to choose from. The costs I have compared are not more than the costs of items if they were ordered directly from the producers, they seem fair with prices. They are such a great addition to the area I try to think more of how I can support them instead of focusing on and criticizing minor shortcomings that most small local business face. I look forward to going to Harvest Time and finding interesting healthy things every time.
