Having reviewed the layout prior to showing up I was very excited to play. Unfortunately when I got there, the disappointment set in. The fairways look like a three year old is the greenskeeper. Full of weeds, bare spots, dandelions...they are a mess. There are huge portions of fairway and rough around the cart paths that are destroyed. The place looks like its a dump and going downhill fast. There's construction work on one hole that I am told has been going on for 3 years. The carts are junk. This place could be THE BOMB! But, instead IT BOMBED? I'm in no hurry to go back to this place and if I had to pay to play at this place. I would have been livid. HUGE disappointment.

Not a single employee to be seen. Finally flagged someone down who asked where my key was. What key? Apparently after paying the prop was supposed to give me a key and I was supposed to just go pick out a cart. -No starter, so I just rolled up to the first hole and teed off at my tee time. -SLOOOOOOOOW pace. It took me over 5.5 hours to play 14 holes. At hole 12, I got tired of being stuck behind stacks of 3 and 4 somes and skipped past them until hole 15 and was still stuck behind a foursome, but at least they played quickly. The course was in great shape with great mix of forgiving and challenging holes. Seemed like there were a lot of par 3s though and one hole was under repair (10? 11?) so they turned it into kind of a janky par 3. Was just in town for a visit, but think i'll explore other courses instead next time I'm back.

The fairways and greens are perfectly manicured and cut, however an extremely tough rough condition awaits you- Should you miss the fairway even a couple of inches. There is no buffer from the fairway to the Rough! it immediately transitions to 4 to 6 inch thick and healthy grass. The ball literally disappears. The group I played with must've lost a few balls each-even though we knew the location where our ball ended up. I am a 12 handicap and had a tough time here. My drive were not all perfect today and I paid the price, even when my drive was to slightly rolled off the fairway. I will definitely play here again, but with a completely different strategy . I will simply take my lumps and punch the ball back into the fairway. Attempt to reach the green from this rough will end up poorly, except for very low handicappers and only the best ball striking golfers . Eagle Valley ... please reduce the 1st cut so the mediocre golfers like me. Can survive a golf round there!

Some holes in the shade were very hard to get a tee into the ground to hit my driver. I enjoyed the layout. Greens were beat up since it was January. But greens were fast. Got paired up with three great guys, all good players. I hear the wind can make a difference on this course, it was pretty mild the day I played. One main issue is no or little yardage marketing fairway and no GPS on the cart. I didn't have my range finder and had to guess (usually wrong) about distance. Bring your range finder if you are going to play this course!

Well I call it hidden because who would drive out 35 minutes away? It's a dry November and there isn't as much to do in south Tahoe. It's totally worth it especially when you take into consideration the value. $40 with cart at 1:30p on a Sunday. The golf course is pretty much all to yourself. I was able to finish the round in less than 3 hours! Quick summary + Greens are in good conditions and undulating + Fairways are fast + Love the mix of flat and elevation changes + Tee boxes are well kept + Slope rating is accurate + Not busy during late November - Gets chilly when sun goes down - Some bunkers are bunkgrass - Greens are good but could be excellent (yeah I'm being nit picky now)

I thought the lady running the front desk and acting as starter was very informative but firm. We were busy visiting with the strangers we were paired with and she had to prod us to tee off on #1. The driving range is grass and had big targets. There is nothing resembling a flat putt anywhere on the course. The greens were in great shape and challenging. It was a good thing they were not too fast. The rough is very lush and penal. There are deceiving visuals when teeing off on many holes. Lots of water around but not necessarily in play. The setting was serene and beautiful. Lots of wildlife. Lots of geese, an eagle or three, and a coyote even loped past us through the tee box. The biggest issue is that there is very little grass in the fairways. Which might have contributed to deceiving visuals because the green stuff was the rough and the scrabble was the fairway. They wanted us to use the 90 degree cart rule but why when there are no fairways? Our overall experience was good because the setting and the company. We just had to find some grass if we hit it in the fairway. We weren't mad that we played here. I would really like the course if there were actual fairways. We would play it again but mostly as a last resort and with our eyes wide open. Forewarned is forearmed.

The building and grounds are amazingly well cared for. In all honesty, I can't believe we have something this nice in Reno. The money that is needed to keep this place up is probably astounding. We were here for a charity event. A nice lay out of cheese for the wines that were being tasted was gorgeous. The lemon bar dessert item was so good. We decided to get something from the bar menu because....when will we ever get back here? We ordered up the sliders, stuffed onion ring, nachos, and tacos and four of us shared it all. I'd never even heard of stuffed onion rings. How is this only available at a private club? Why aren't other places doing this? Good idea. Maybe a bit bland, but to be fair this is a country club. All the food was good. But the best was a "passed" plate for the charity event. The turkey sandwich was just so tasty I was a bit disappointed I hadn't ordered it or at least waited for the passed plates to come out. I probably will be sneaking in here at some point in time in the future for a round of golf with a friend who is a member...so I will have no problem getting some food here before hand or after the round. We played early in the morning so it was wet, which added another challenge! The one gripe I have is the price. Yes, this course is very nice, but I personally don't think it's worth the $200-$220 a round. At that price you need curb side greeters, clubs loaded and cleaned for you, and no holes next to a highway. Just my opinion, but the course is still 5 stars for the layout and the condition.
