Heard good things about this company which is why we chose them to install our new AC - and it…read moreworked great...at first.
It stopped working on a Thursday when it was 90 degrees. It would not cool; however, it was still running. We called immediately & were told they would send someone the next day. And they did. Nice guy, seemingly confident it was just a frion issue. But it wasn't. Instead he needed a "small part they may have back at the shop." So he left. And sometime later I received a call from the woman that handles the calls/appts/office management who told me they didn't have the part & would order it. She stated, "It should arrive on Wednesday & I'll call you to set up a time." I said, "Wednesday?" And she flatly stated, "It's a holiday weekend." So that's 5 days of 95+ degree weather with no AC in a house with pets, a toddler, an infant & visiting family who came to help with unrelated home maintenance. Which is not Elliott Bros fault - I recognize that; however, they are an HVAC company who installed this unit just a couple years ago - while I don't expect weather control or miracles from them, a little customer service courtesy and respect is not asking for much. If I ordered this part using Amazon Prime it would arrive in a shorter time period than from their company. And why don't they have this part in stock? It was small & repaired a "common problem."
Needless to say, it was a hot weekend and by Tuesday morning our infant son had heat rash all over his diaper area & stomach from a heat that no amount of fans could cool through circulation. Out of curiosity and frustration, my husband called on Tuesday morning at 8:30 just to see if there was any change in the status - left a message stating, "Just wanted to make sure everything was set for tomorrow or earlier if possible." At 11:30, the same office employee called & when I answered, she didn't even ask for my husband or me. Instead, she immediately launched into, "Look, I already told you on Friday it wouldn't be until Wednesday." I said, "I know. My husband just wanted to confirm the information. It's quite hot here & we have 2 young children. How soon after the part arrives will it be installed?" And she flippantly said, "I don't know. I already told you I'd call you." "When can I expect your call?" To which she responded as though I were a belligerent child, "Between. Eight. And. Eight. Thirty. When I make ALL my calls." (How am I supposed to know she only makes calls for half an hour in the morning - I'd never heard from her within her stated time frame. Keep in mind it was 11:30 when she called us, but whatever. Apparently I'm just supposed to somehow KNOW this.)
Again, it's not her fault our AC stopped working, but when all you handle are ACs, why don't you have quicker access to "common parts." And if you don't, why wouldn't you overnight it & have someone install it the next day if you know you have a customer in good standing who is going to be 5 days without AC in hot weather. And if you aren't going to do that, why not deliver good customer service and address this fact? Or at least have the common courtesy to acknowledge & apologize for only doing the bare minimum. And why would you speak so rudely when I know you're calling from a nicely air conditioned office and customer service is your job? I never once spoke rudely to her. I never complained nor was I sarcastic. However, she was all of these.
Upon delivery of the needed part on Wednesday, it was promptly installed within mere minutes & at this writing, is working nicely. Ahh, AC is so awesome. No more baby heat rash for us!
So, I chose the average rating of 3 stars - the actual work done was great, but having to speak with the office employee was almost as annoying as sweating indoors. So, 3 stars.
