I learned about ECIR from a friend and I instantly fell in love with the place. It not only checked these parameters but was super convenient in terms of location (important criteria during brutal Michigan winters). It is walking distance from the business school, the school of education and the school of public policy. Further, it is barely couple of blocks away from the frat house, pubs/ bars and restaurants where most parties happen (yet not at all noisy!) I live in a 2 bedroom apartment which is clean, spacious and well-furnished with latest equipments in the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room. Besides, there is always Stoney (the go to guy) to help you with anything you may need. In terms of the community, ECIR is awesome! I have made some great life long friends (outside my business school) from around the world over numerous meals, activities and games like Mafia. People here are non fussy, down to earth and very friendly. Festivals such as Chinese New Year, Graduation Prom, International Fair and Diwali are celebrated here. Also, I love the community meals that happen every week where you get to taste amazing international cuisines made by fellow residents (Yes, free food!). Jessica & team do a wonderful job of taking care of not only your daily needs but also organizing various fun events. (We are all Jessie Lovers here!). Finally, this year Munger was clearly the hype but I decided to not follow the blind trend as ECIR is way more than just a community living. It takes a lot for any large building to be anything like ECIR, given the kind of people it attracts, the cute little personal community it is and various diverse events and activities it hosts for its residents and international students while also being an awesome housing. I love ECIR, it is indeed the best thing that happened to me after Ross here. I would highly recommend to people considering living around Tappan, State, Packard, Hill, Church, Brown or Main St.

The apartment was dirty when we moved in. When I kindly requested that the apartment be cleaned,…read morethe office staff was quite dismissive. One of the toilets was completely rusted through and needed to be changed. Bathroom fans were clogged with dust and debris. The tub was clogged with what I assume was the previous tenant's hair. Walls were painted without cleaning or prepping. I noticed in the kitchen that the painters had painted over grease spots. The paint simply wiped off when I went to clean that portion of the kitchen. In other areas of the apartment you can see that paint has been applied over dust and dirt. The clubhouse and gym are poorly maintained and rarely cleaned. I tried going to the gym twice, but gave up. It's not worth the frustration. The peloton bikes they advertise are rusty and are not taken care of. Overall, the property is poorly maintained and the office staff are not very helpful. We attempted to make an appointment with the property manager, but she ignored our requests. The location is decent and the residents are friendly. My suggestion is that anyone looking to live here adjust their expectations. The reality does not match what is advertised.

They respond quickly to concerns and I've never felt like there was something I couldn't talk to them about. The location has also been perfect. It's just far enough away from downtown to be quiet, but it's still a walkable distance. We are so lucky to have found this gem in Ann Arbor.

The rating is not because this is the coolest, fanciest place to live in A2, but because it checked all of the most important boxes and I enjoyed living here. The apartment has limited storage but was completely sufficient for me and my husband. I think a 1 BR would have been too small for us but the 2BR has been great. My neighbors were chill all 3 years, no issues. As others have stated, the management and maintenance staff are stellar which has kept me happy. Anytime there was an issue (e.g., one time I had bugs, low water temp, broken washing machine, lost package, etc.), they were VERY prompt about helping me resolve the issue in a timely manner. Super dependable. I've had to call them a few times when I was traveling to check on something in the apartment for me which gave me complete peace of mind. I have a ~15 minute walk to school which has been fine, even in the winter. I've always felt safe and rarely had any issues with noise (except when the family upstairs had a toddler who would run around like a maniac during the day -- luckily he grew out of that phase). I've loved the location more than the apartment itself, it's an easy walk to campus, downtown, and a prime location for football game days. Also, if you renew your lease and you're gone during the summer, you can pay half rent for a couple of months which saved me some money and kept me from trying to deal with subleasing. Love my apartment with huge windows and lots of sunlight, balcony, huge bathroom and comfortable kitchen appliances. Let me tell you my honest opinion. 1. Amenities are new and apartments are modern and pleasant to live. Huge washer and dryer, yearly maintenance of AC system, fire alarm maintenance - it shows how the housing management cares about safety and comfort! 2. I called maintenance several times and my issue was solved on the next day! They were so quick and efficient so I never stressed out about malfunction cause I know it's gonna be fixed ASAP. Maintenance people were very polite and nice too 3. Shuttle Bus from the housing!! As I don't drive, it was a life saver, and it always runs on time. During this 2.5 year period it was NEVER late or got cancelled. Plus grocery run twice a month is a huge plus. Bus driver Jeff is so attentive and always prioritise safety and comfort! He is great!!! Once he forgot to pick me up but then he immediately came back and drove me back home! Shuttle starts at 6:30 AM and runs until 6 PM 4. Dog park and dog spa area. I do not have pets but once I took care of my friends dog for 2 days and I realised how convenient is Owl Creek - trash cans for poop bags, huge dog park and I could wash and dry the paws of the dog in the special area. Plus club house is pet friendly 5. Pool and barbecue - during summer time, the first thing I do after work is relax on the pool. It's close to the parking but I wish it was a bit separated by greenery around it. However water is always clean and they strictly check the water quality! Cinema is great with a Netflix Subscription! Me and my friends used to enjoy it so much! 6. I transferred the lease when I moved in and this process was very easy, at that time Noah and Bianca were helpful, responsive and friendly! Honestly, management is great! The parties organised for Halloween, Pool Party Barbecue and Valentine's Day Party are full of food and funny activities! I actually won a prize (basket full of goodies) several times by playing a guessing game! 7. Covered parking comes with the apartment and there is an option for renting off a garage. Honestly, it's my best living experience. I highly recommend it for safety, comfort and peaceful living. Of course rent is a bit pricey for being a bit further from the Central Campus Area but 100% worth it.

The live-in residents are essentially your new grandparents, so as long as you are respectful and kind to them you can generally expect the same in return. Somewhat long list of rules, but generally boils down to "do not be a nuisance". Free laundry and utilities are a big plus, WiFi router is essentially adjacent to the rentable rooms and has great speeds. Expect to live quietly/peacefully in this live-in arrangement and you'll be just fine. Be sure to bring a car as using the Ann Arbor busses is rather limited and unreliable, and the nearest UofM bus is a 20 minute walk.
