they have a horrible app. their hours are not feasible for someone that has a job. Because is it I either have to be late to work to get to a teller, or trying to swerve through traffic to make it in 30 minutes? The telephone service is just as shit. why is my routing number at the bottom of the app the same as everyone else that has an mcu account and my account number actually located in a different section of the app? The app does not automagically save your face recognition settings which is stupid. then when I go to try and reset my username IT ALWAYS gives me a "unable to located your account" message when I either try the full account number or partial of it. I cannot wait until 9am today to withdraw everything, close the account and start over at a new bank. This has been hell for the past year and a half. 1/10 would not recommend unless you're a senior and have the extra time to make it during their business hours And have the patience of a absolute saint, even the pope may not have, to struggle with their their telephone service. read more

I wrote one outstanding review. That was after the negligent actions of the bank. Long story short I did a lease buyout with MCU. Everything took an hour and a half tops and I was happy with my experience. Got my deed and had to pay $2,800 in sales tax at the dmv. Shame on me for not realizing so it's not their fault. But now I've got a late patient notice on my credit because they didn't deduct the correct amount out of my paycheck to cover the loan. WHAT?! I got half of an apology due to "confusion" on their end. That's unacceptable. Now this is going to affect me for more than a year to come. Thanks MCU! read more

I have no issues with MCU whether it's this location or the downtown manhattan branch. If you know what you need and go in with that mindset you'll be fine. Each time I visit I grab a ticket and never wait more than 15 minutes, get to the window and tell them what I need and I'm out. Easy as that. I don't expect sunshine/smiles/rainbows and I'm ok with that. It seems others don't understand that. This is NYC not Ohio. Their customer service line sucks but which one doesn't? Apart from that they give City employees nice loans and mostly no fee savings/checking accounts. They even have a no fee coin counting machine. One thing that needs to be greatly improved on at all locations are the ATM machines. They're dated compared to other banks but they do serve their purpose. I'd continue to use this location and will recommend it to all of my civil servant brothers/sisters. read more

This is a horrible location with nonsense communication. I waited for over an hour after being sent here from the other SU location, where they were quick and efficient. This guy could not take a deposit and sent me to the teller so I lost my place in line before he would actually do anything. Tellers do nothing but sit in their phones. Brand new branch manager there who thinks its ok to endanger members' lives by LOCKING THEM IN THE BUILDING an then walking away. When questioned about this unsafe practice, he copped attitude and asked me if I wanted to leave. We exchanged words after I conducted my business adn he asked me if I "wanted to go" and kept saying "say that to my face" (even though I was looking right at him when I said it). You know that run-around you get when visiting the DMV? "You don't have the right form, fill out this one and get a new number." Imagine that same exact kind of experience, but with a credit union. Wanting to distance myself from the "corporate fat cat banks", I applied for a new account on their website, had them run a credit check and everything, only to have my application "cancelled" the very next day. I then received a standard message from them saying that I needed to come in to continue the application and submit proof of my eligibility to be a member. Wait a minute. So if that was the case all along, why did I bother applying online? Why run my credit and everything if I still had to come in to the brick-and-mortar branch to really sign up? Why even have the option to sign up online if you can't? Ok, whatever. So I take leave to go in during their super convenient hours to sign up. Because us government workers make soooo much money I can just take off work to sign up for a government-worker credit union. I read their requirements beforehand and come prepared with my work ID, my drivers license, and my credit card statement as proof of address. I walk in and the place can be only described as a morgue. Welcome to linoleum and stainless steel hell. I am first in line. A disinterested, disheveled, robot of a lady meanders over to the guest services desk and asks me, without looking at me, how she could help me. I tell her that I tried to sign up online, and wanted an account. "Government Employer ID?" "Yes" "Drivers License?" "Got it." "Does it have your current, correct address?" "No, I just moved..." "Then you need a Utility Bill showing your current address" "I don't have that, but is a credit card statement okay?" "No, it needs to be a utility bill from the last 30 days." "But your website says..." "Sir, it must be a utility bill from the last 30 days... you need to have a utility bill." For reference, here are their requirements, directly copied from the website: "a) proof of identity (a clear copy of an unexpired Government issued ID) b) proof of eligibility (current job ID or pay stub) c) proof of address bearing your name, such as a utility bill or credit card statement (dated within the last 30 days.)* *Required if your identification does not display your current address. " Yeah forget it. I see my business isn't wanted here. Thanks for bringing that inefficient government bureaucracy feeling to the banking industry, MCU. That's why I do most of my DMV stuff online, so I don't have to deal with their lackluster employees. TRY ANOTHER CREDIT UNION! The Federal Credit Union on Arthur Kill Rd. has pretty good customer service. While not a member of MCU, I am a member of another Credit Union and frequent this MCU ATM Drive-thru since MCU extends fee-free transactions as a courtesy to other CU members. That is the only courtesy this establishment extends. I've never in all my years experienced an entire team of people so miserable at the same time. The two times I had to enter the branch were due to issues with the ATM. The first time I received a torn bill in my withdrawal. We're not talking a little tear, I'm saying an entire corner was missing off a 20.00 bill. Someone had to load that into the machine. So I walk inside, take a number and wait my turn. I explain the situation to the teller who asks me "so, what do you want me to do?" I said "I'd like you to replace this bill" - she snatched it out of my hand and threw another bill at me. I just left, was thinking about finding the manager to complain about the customer service but just didn't have the time. Well.....I eventually met the Branch Manager. Last week the ATM did not disperse my withdrawal. 400.00 that I saved up for a wedding I was attending! I walked inside and everyone was so rude! The teller who told me her manager would not come out, some associate in a cubicle who screamed at me as I walked by to find the manager myself, and then the manager who immediately covered up her ID and kept saying "you're not a member here, I don't have to tell you anything". After I asked if she would take the ATM down she replied "you're not a member here, I don't have to do anything for you". I went outside and the machine was still open - I warned the customer not to use it since it wasn't dispersing money. I've since written to their corporate office and haven't heard back - don't expect too either, this type of low morale starts from the top-down. read more

I like this mcu branch in comparison to the one in downtown brooklyn. The staff is nice and helpful. The bank manager has been really helpful the first time I interacted with her even tough they don't wire money out we found a solution. The bankers seem fine and know what they are doing, but there is one teller that needs to smile a little, everything is going to be ok. read more
