My ex hired him and insisted on him and it was clear he was friendly and knew my ex's lawyer. They were making jokes and he made references to what my ex's lawyer would do and that he was a 'hot head' and would serve me with court documents within 2 weeks if I didn't comply. He made jokey references to my profession in child protection work 'maybe you will call your CAS buddies' and did not make me feel empowered in any way. He minimized the financial impropriety I experienced in the marriage and showed he was disinterest by lots of eye rolling, rather than focusing on strengths and worries. His colleague Sarah was almost worse and had actually worked with my ex's lawyer. She did disclose this at the beginning, but it was still so inappropriate. When I did they talked down to me and made me feel awful, lots of crying and we're a total waste of money, time, and energy. The info I had wasn't what they wanted me to get and blamed me for not knowing better. They hit me just as hard as the truck that did when it sped through the red light. They were nice at first but in the end I was just left with no time to get other help and no money for it either. Steer clear so you don't get blindsided too!
