I went here and did everything from classes, to driving lessons and my knowledge test. Finally the day came where I did my drive test, I did do bad on some things which wasn't there fault but I failed with a 78% which was absolutely ridiculous. I got two points deducted for "driving too slow" but I was always going the appropriate speed limit. My examiner was very picky over everything which was upsetting since I was so close to passing. I drove safely and did good on everything else, I should've passed that day but all they care about is having more money. i paid 100 freaking dollars for an hour long drive for my daughter... they sat in the freaking parking lot for half the time. When *testing*.... the tester was legitimately pushing my daughter to be an *aggressive* driver, when I have emphasized patience and safety in our teaching. I seriously feel as though they failed her for the money. Only *one* thing they dinged her on was true. And I teach CDL drivers for a living. read more

I would give them a zero in customer service. Right after he signed up, I found out a family friends' parent had died, and the funeral was around the same time he signed up for. He called and left his name, no call back. They ask for all your information, email, phone and address. They said that he didn't leave his number. I took him on that day instead of going to the funeral because they would not call back after several attempts. On their site, you have to assign a location. My grandson assigned Anacortes. He had a 12:30 appointment. We went there and there was a sign on the door that said, "this is not a testing location". He called them and this time they called back, told him to set up a new appointment and go to Mt. Vernon. Oh, and you have to pay another $75. They are a rip off and provide no customer service. Finally, after complaining, he got $30 back and they kept $45 for giving no services whatsoever. To top it off, Veronica Munro was extremely rude. I would not suggest them to anyone. My out of state license had expired before I was able to get my Washington license, so I unfortunately had to take the written and drive tests in order to qualify, and was a bit apprehensive about doing this again after 15 years. The staff at Munro's made me feel comfortable and at ease every step of the way! After reading other reviews and making note to be aware of the issues mentioned in the negative reviews, I proceeded with Munro's. Their website has all the information needed, the staff was very helpful and friendly on the phone and in person, making sure I knew what was to be expected, along with their policies/procedures and the instructors were great as well! I cannot recommend Munro's highly enough, and with multiple locations, it makes it very convenient as well!! NOTE: Be sure to listen to the staff as well as carefully read the website as to what is required and expected and you can avoid the "Negative" experience others reviewed about on here!! read more

Betsy was condescending and failed my son twice because in my opinion they want to milk money out of people. He received a 76% on the first test and a 75% on the second. He went across the street to the other place and received a 94% the next day. read more

They claim my son failed by 1 question and then wanted to charge me the full $30 fee for a retake test. I went here because I was under the impression that they operated under the same rules as the DOL which allows one retake for free. With a $30 fee for retakes, they have a definite financial incentive to fail test takers. read more

To any parent that is enrolling their teen in a drivers ed course, Munro's is the way to go! It seemed like the class flew by so fast! My daughter had Stacie as her instructor. If I could give 0 stars I would. I honestly feel like this place is really interested in taking people's money. They purposely give people a lack of information so that they will have to come and take their tests again. There was one incident where a friend of mine made an appointment for a drive and they didn't ask him if he wanted to borrow a vehicle. They made it seem as if it was included in the charge. When he got there they told him he couldn't take it without a car and he wasn't even offered a refund or anything. They kept his money and refused to even offer service even when they had vehicles available just sitting out in the parking lot. I would recommend bals driving school across the street. This business is a scam, and over priced. I believe they will honestly fail you just to make you retake their driving test. I called to rebook my test once I failed for the following week and got called into work so I had to cancel my appointment in doing so I called them to give them a days notice, a 23hour days notice and they wouldn't refund my 45$ because I didn't give them a 24hour notice which she never mentioned over the phone when I rebooked. So I spoke with management and she made me feel like I was lying about being informed and wouldn't do a damn thing giving them a full days notice! Totally ridiculous. I called for three days straight, said they would call me back when the front desk was available , finally got a front desk to answer the phone I was told that my appointment can not be refunded because "not having my permit " is considered a missed appointment , in order to even receive any services or reschedule the appointment I will have to pay 25$, in order to get a permit(25$) and then to pay another 25$ just to take a private class! I spend another 50$ added to 65 that I will not get back... These people are out for your money! Scammers go across the street to bals they actually want to you pass your tests on the first try and it's Wayy more cheaper.. read more

Everyone I've dealt with at this company..at front desk, on the phone in Anacortes and Mount Vernon has had terrible attitude - over the smallest questions that I asked.. also thinking they don't want you to pass so you have to pay twice. There's a much cheaper alternative in town also so search driving schools.. awful experience with munros read more

I'm glad I took this course and I think it was definitely worth it. The instructor knew a lot and I learned a lot. She answered all my questions and went through the information in a way I could understand. And the drives helped me learn a lot and apply my learning hands on. read more

*NOTICE* I have posted this to the Oak Harbor Munros' page on Yelp, but I also want to post it here since the owner of Munros' seems to be contacting people who review on this page. The review on the Oak Harbor page is exactly the same, so if you have read one, you have read the other. *END OF NOTICE* Before writing this review, I want to clarify that I will be reviewing the class given at Munros in Oak Harbor and my first drive test with them. The class was wonderful, and the experience there was great. The instructors were very good with how they presented information and taught me, and during our drive practices they were very kind and it was a learning experience for me. I had no problem with the class directly. I did have a problem with the pricing as it was extremely overpriced. There were also 2 moments of miscommunication where I was expecting that I'd be exiting the class with a license, as that is what I was told over the phone when seeking information for the class. I was also told that the 5 drives I was required to take would be complete before the end of the course. That was not the case as I had to take 2 more drives post Munros. My first drive test with Munros was horrid, and sadly I have another one coming in September. I was failed for 4 reasons. For starters, I was told that I cut into another lane while being stationary in a turning lane. I then was told that I was not turning to look behind me when pulling into traffic. Then I was told that I did not come to a complete stop at a red light. And finally, I was told that I was 6 miles over the speed limit. My test lasted 5 minutes, and at the very end of the test, the instructor(who I do remember the first and last name of if anyone is willing to take action and remove her from the staff)then proceeded to tell me what was wrong in such a condescending manner that I felt threatened personally. It felt that she was trying to make me fear taking the test. Now, while I would normally just take everything she said, and be done... I regret to inform you reader that what the instructor had told me was all false. I actually had a small camera on my phone in my car where it could visibly see the front of the car and the speed at which I was driving. I reviewed the footage because I had left it on during my test unintentionally, and wow if I wasn't just some 18 year old who doesn't want to cause trouble, I would have taken the footage to the DoL and sued Munros. I chose not to since the work would be huge and I'm going off to college late September so I'd rather take my test and be done with this half-baked company. On the video that my phone had recorded, I was able to see that I had not cut any lanes, I came to a complete stop at the red light since I have to(not just for the law but just for my own personal safety), I sped up to 32 when merging only to ensure that the cars(which were slowing down so I may merge)would not have to wait for me and thus I was only doing so to maintain speed, and while I was not able to see myself you are able to hear me shuffling around since I am required to do so when turning. This was just simply what ruined the name Munros for me. My experience with this lone instructor was enough to ruin the credit this company has, and I have openly stated to anyone looking for a Drivers' Ed class to not use this company. I have no problem with the class's instructors for teaching Driver's Ed, though I dislike the way the class was run. I absolutely hated the instructor(who was not part of the staff teaching the class)for failing me for reasons that were not only untrue, but also being very insulting and condescending about it. I would not recommend this company to anyone and I hope that their monopoly within the Northwest finds some serious competition, because their absurdly high prices would easily be brought to the ground by a company that was straightforward and honest with their customers - something this company failed to do. Munros values money over honesty, and I encourage others to find a different company to side with for a proper driver's education. read more
