When the weather turns warm, I know it is only a matter of time before Murase Plaza is filled with kids splashing in the water feature. I saw the city build this mixed use facility that is connected to Memorial Park ages ago, and actually had a few issues with the design at the time. When my boys were small, I was concerned with the location of the water feature so close to a busy road. But, that doesn't diminish my enjoyment of this park. A couple of particularly cool things are the meandering trail with prime picnic tables under the trees and the rustic Stein-Boozier Barn that is available for rental. Between the meadow, the barn and the additional shelter by the water feature, I've celebrated many a young ones' birthday at Murase Plaza.

    World's most shallow lazy river!

Children of all ages will enjoy the splash pad here, but it is absolutely perfect for the under 7 set. There is no deep water, just fairly gentle waterfalls and consistently spraying fountains. The water smells like chlorinated pool water, which I appreciate. The smell wasn't overwhelming and I like knowing that the water that so many toddlers are playing in is treated. I loved the layout of the splash pad. It was very hot today, and families were out in droves, but there was still plenty of room for every one to run from place to place playing. The bathrooms are very close. There is limited shade. We will be back!

Beautiful clean park with rolling hills, playground, and bathrooms. Fun water feature for the kids in the summertime.

Theoretically, there is also a free boat dock, but at the time of writing, a very large tree is fallen across it. Restrooms and garbage are maintained by Oregon State Parks. When I visited, it was pretty clean. The trail along the river is very pretty, although I was only able to access about a mile of it before it got too flooded to hike through. I noticed lots of poisonous plants including poison oak, snowberries, and hemlock. But also tons of moss, lichens, and ferns. In addition to the picnic tables in the picnic areas, there were also several solitary tables set out along the river. This is great for a more solitary picnic, taking a break during a long bike ride, or getting some privacy for drawing or Journaling. Overall just about as good as it gets for free.

They don't have any trail maps posted, however, so we weren't sure of the distance of the trails or where they went. One trail follows close to the river, and that was nice, with a mix of open sun and shaded forest. The trails were mostly flat dirt or gravel, no strenuous inclines. There's a large off-leash dog exercise area. Dogs are supposed to be on a leash in the rest of the park, but sadly most owners were just letting their dogs run the trails off-leash. They have picnic tables & a good, clean restroom facility as well.

It's...okay…read more They have a little play area for 2-5-year-olds, which seemed perfectly nice, and another play area for 5-12-year-olds, nicer. No infant swings, though. I had to use the restroom while I was there. First, at a park that has a play-set for 2-year-olds (never mind kids who have siblings), there's no baby changing table. And second, there's no soap dispenser. Not just no soap, no way to supply it. There's an air dryer (no towels)...in other words, nothing to keep stocked. But no soap in the restroom? Ew. Otherwise it was fine, seemed well-maintained, etc. But uninspired. If you live close by it's likely worth it, but I wouldn't bother to drive there. The views of the river aren't as good as at lower Memorial Park, and the playground isn't as good as the upper part of Memorial Park.

There isn't much; there's a playground, a historic marker plaque, restrooms (that were oddly clean), plenty of parking and a former boat-launch that is now a very small beach. The park was very clean, quiet and kept up impeccably. Perhaps a good spot to have a picnic or dip your feet in the water, or use the restroom.
