One GI performed a colonoscopy, and my symptoms continued. We saw Dr. Whitfield on Dec 22. He listened and examined and then said clearly "Your problem is not what you think it is." He had me come in the next day for an exam under anesthesia. He drained infection and diagnosed the condition, which is treatable, but incurable. He recommended a GI specialist for further treatment, and I already feel 100% better. All these other providers heard the same story and saw the same symptoms, but Dr. Whitfield actually got me on the road to a healthier life. My wife believes he saved my life.

It is not often you hear me say that because I absolutely hate the doctor like the plague. The front desk was super nice. She checked in me and I didn't have to wait very long to get seen. Dr. Saysoukha was very informative and thorough with making sure I understood everything that was going on with my foot. I had an injury recently from working out and it has been giving me a lot of issues. After visiting her, I felt a sense of security and a better understanding of what I needed to do for my wellness. It is going to take some time to get where we want me to be, but with time, it will be achieved. It is very obvious that Dr. Saysoukha is passionate about her line of work and cares about her patients. I haven't had such a great experience like this in a long while hence why I felt the need to drop a review. My first experience with Dr. Mangione was in 2009 when I had a bout of pancreatitis that sent me to…read morethe ER with symptoms that looked more like a heart attack. Dr. Mangione did a full workup on me that included everything from stress tests to cardiac catheterization. Luckily, my heart checked out fine, but his keen eye picked up something odd on my cardiac echo which wound up being a tumor growing in my pancreas. The tumor was removed later that year. Fast forward to 2014, and I was having problems with heart palpitations and other problems that got me referred out to another cardiologist in Murfreesboro. I fooled around with that guy for months and all he could do is run test after test, and then want to run them again because he forgot that he already ran it. I remembered the experience that I had with Dr. Mangione and got back in to see him. Within a visit or two, he had determined the issue and was able to resolve the problems with a minor change in medication.

It's been several years since I have used Dr. Lewis as my PCP, but wanted to share my experience…read more Dr. Lewis has a great demeanor and for run of the mill things like the flu or high blood pressure, you're in good hands. If you have anything more challenging, you may be taking your life in your hands. I had a small tumor in my pancreas that he didn't seem too concerned about and approached with a "wait and see" attitude. Within six months the tumor grew so large that not only did it require the removal of 60% of my pancreas but it had also blocked the blood flow to my spleen, requiring it to be removed as well. For months afterward, as my A1C kept rising to dangerous levels (17 at it's highest), his answer was to just keep increasing my oral diabetes medications. Thank goodness another doctor referred me out to a good endocrinologist who was aghast at how my diabetes was being handled. He made the comment that any competent doctor would have known to switch me to insulin as I did not have enough of a pancreas left for the medication I was taking to function as designed. Within a few months my A1C dropped drastically and I found a new PCP. Dr. Lewis seems like a very nice person, and appeared genuinely concerned, but when your health is on the line, you want expertise. If you have a complicated health issue, you may want to look for a more seasoned physician.

I'm not that crazy about dealing with MMC anymore. It seems - idk..big, shiny, bureaucratic and unfriendly - since they moved to the new building. Even though I don't particularly care for MMC, I still go there because Dr Lewis is so good.

I was initially referred to Dr. Karam at Nephrology Associates after meeting him during a hospital stay after going into kidney failure due to kidney stone complications and was very unhappy with him. Dr. Karam made me feel like a number and rushed me out of my initial appointment instead of taking the time to sit an explain my situation or discuss any type of treatment plan. My initial visit with Dr. Herron was a completely different experience and I was extremely happy with the entire process. It was easy to schedule an appointment, her staff was friendly, I was seen quickly, and Dr. Herron made me feel like she actually cared about me. She took the time to answer all my questions, explained my situation so I was able to fully understand everything, and started me on a treatment plan to maintain my kidney function. I called to schedule a new patient appointment and could have been seen the same week had my schedule permitted. However, I had to schedule for two weeks out. Then, the day before my appointment, I had to reschedule but was able to get in the next week - none of this waiting for a new appointment for weeks or months I've experienced at other medical offices in the area. Dr. Puckett recently moved into a new office on N. Highland, which was very easy to find and pleasantly decorated. While there I interacted with the woman working the front desk as well as the nurse, and both could not have been more friendly or professional. I only waited about 5 minutes before being called back. I really connected with Dr. Puckett. She is friendly, engaging, attentive and was very skilled at explaining complicated medical terms and conditions in a manner a layperson could understand. She took time to get to know me, and never once did I feel as if she was rushing me through the appointment. I have definitely found a doctor for life... or as long as my insurance plan will let me see her!
