Making a decision on where to move when my mom (82) moves from out of state to live with me has been a challenging experience at times. We have looked at numerous properties, trying to decide the best location to land when Mom arrives in a few months. I have now done two tours at Sunsweet. Once on my own to determine if it was a good option and again with my mom for her to see the property. As we compare all the other ones that we've seen, we keep coming back to this property. I think a lot of it has to do with the amazing Alyssa in the leasing office. She has been so informative and so patient with all of our questions. She even helped us measure the rooms during our visit and wrote them down on the floor plan for us. My hope is to come back again in a week with my sister so that we can have different viewpoints to help Mom make her decision. The property is beautiful, the location is great, everything always looks clean, and the residents that I have met during both visits speak highly of their experience.

The day I moved in, Humera (manager) said "oh your apartment isn't ready" despite multiple emails about the moving in process. She begrudgingly let me in the apartment. She did not complete a walk-through with me. When I pointed out destroyed/burned carpet, so I don't get charged for the previous tenants destruction, she just said "oh". No notes on her end, nothing. I had to shampoo the carpets upon move-in because it wasn't done. I had to bother management multiple times to fix the storage lock. Horrible neighbors that would party all hours while I'm trying to manage postpartum with a new born. Turns out the neighbor was on Megan's law for lewd acts with a minor. Management had no issues with a pedo swimming/living among children. Finally they moved out. Pool is never managed. Never see residents using the pool just teenagers with rat tails jumping the fence. I lived in salinas and thought this place/Morgan hill would be a step up.. totally wrong. Morgan hill has crime and drug market, just like Salinas. Ohh and wasn't told this was subsidized/section 8 housing. So that means shitty people live here, who don't care about throwing away the governments money, since they don't work and have the privilege to ruin communities wherever they go. Don't live here. They increase rent for a shitty living experience. Only saving grace is the maintenance guys. They do more work than any other employee at this property. Fuck this place and it's bullshit. I wanted to take my little one swimming before the day is ruined with people screaming and leaving trash everywhere. Pool keys don't work. Of course. So since I couldn't enjoy an experience with my 1.5 year old, you get to read this review.

The management team--Georgina, Hope, and Ty--are very professional and personable, often taking a moment to check in with residents. They are also highly responsive, answering our emailed questions within 24 hours. The property is well-maintained, with no concerning incidents during our residency. We were especially impressed when Hope quickly coordinated the installation of a 220v outlet for our electric vehicle, a process completed within a week. Some units come with this convenient feature already installed from a previous resident. The location itself is close to a variety of great restaurants and convenient for those who love an early morning jog. The community amenities are clean and well-kept, including the pool, spa, gym, and community room. Each unit also has a full-size washer and dryer. We appreciate the convenient pet washing station and the secure, coded Luxor package delivery system. For those who commute south to Gilroy or Salinas, the 101 is not congested, but northbound traffic is less predictable.

Absolutely. To…read morestart, we had issues almost monthly from the day we moved in, especially during the first 6-8 months. Maintenance was constantly in our apartment attempting to repair things, and many of the issues required multiple visits before they were actually resolved. Our dishwasher flooded. Maintenance initially tried to tell me I had used too many dishwasher pods and insisted nothing was wrong. I made him stay and continue looking, and he eventually discovered that packaging from installation had never been removed. Instead of acknowledging that, I was told it must have somehow been "sucked up" into the dishwasher. We've had circuits that didn't work, door handles coming off, a broken ice maker, broken blinds, uneven/bubbling floors, ceiling stains that were there when we moved in, our ceiling flooding, and our hot water heater going out multiple times. Several of these issues took repeated maintenance visits to actually fix. Our front door had water damage within our first month of living here and needed repair. During that repair, maintenance left tools and aluminum shavings all over our porch. On multiple occasions after entering our apartment to perform work, our doors were not locked when they left. One of the most concerning situations was when our fire alarm went off repeatedly throughout the night with no visible smoke. We contacted maintenance multiple times and specifically asked them to come test for carbon monoxide before we went back to sleep. Despite repeatedly asking, they refused to bring a meter and test our apartment. We also have an ongoing and excessive bug problem despite being charged a monthly pest control fee. The exterior of the buildings and windows are covered in bird feces and are not properly cleaned. We've had unsupervised children using the community pool at 3 AM. And now, as shown in the photos attached to my original review, there are mounds of pigeon feces approximately three feet from our bedroom windows. So not only do we get to look at it every day, we have legitimate concerns about having that amount of waste sitting directly outside the windows of our home. These are not the standards I expect from a community marketed and priced as "luxury," especially when we are paying over $5,000 a month to live here. This is also not one isolated maintenance complaint. It has been an ongoing pattern of issues since we moved in. You asked me to share more about the issues we've encountered, these are just some of them.
