As soon as I moved into my condo I had issues with my front door slamming, so much so that it became an actual danger. Due to condo policies I had to use their own contracted locksmith, Murphy's Locksmith. At first the owner seemed friendly and knowledgeable, but after that the experience went downhill. Part of the repair required removing the deadbolt. Despite feeling nervous about it, I agreed, since he had promised a return visit within the week. That return visit did not happen for another 6 weeks. On top of that, it turned out he hadn't used long-enough screws in his repair; hence the repair came undone, leaving me not only without a deadbolt but also with a vulnerable bottom lock. After 6 weeks of feeling scared and unsafe, they finally did return to reset the door properly and replace the deadbolt. But in the process, they ended up breaking my doorbell and then refused to fix it. While Murphy's Locksmith did not charge me for the new deadbolt and new locks, I wound up having to pay to fix the doorbell, which cost me just as much as the deadbolt itself, not to mention the additional hassle. While I believe the company does good work, in my case they did not do their due diligence, and for that I cannot recommend them. read more

I needed a lock on my sliding glass patio door repaired. I called Murphy's and the young man came on time for the appointment. He was certainly knowledgeable and fixed the lock without needing to replace it which would have been more expensive. The price was reasonable and he gave me some pointers for other options with the door locks. I would definitely recommend Murphy's to anyone who needs lock service. read more

I wouldn't trust this company. overly high priced $174.00 They were very goofy when they showed up. At first, I didn't know if they knew what they were doing. when they inflated the thing in the car door it popped out and then they had repeat the steps all over again. As soon as they inflated it and wedged it in the car door. They ran a long rod inside the door and opened it up. This company is to high priced and I didn't know that at first they charged me $174.00 and that was after they got my car unlocked. Then they said that's good thing you called us there's a lot con artists around here and said that other lock smiths charges about $300 and up. But I wouldn't know because I wasn't given the option to find out The others were too high priced. The company is too expensive. read more

If I could give 6 stars, I would. Mark replaced a deadbolt lock with a combination deadbolt for me, and I couldn't be happier. The previous lock was difficult to operate due to settling in the building, but Mark fixed that for me so the new lock would operate smoothly. The new lock is also complicated to use, so he spent lots of time with me (a 78-year-old woman), showing me how to operate it until I (not he) felt sufficiently comfortable with my new lock. He's very honest, reliable, and personable. His estimate was right on, and he even made a second key for me (my lock only came with one key) without charge. Believe me, you will not be disappointed if you use Mark Murphy. In fact, I am 100% sure you won't use anyone else after hiring him. It just doesn't get any better. read more

Mark was fantastic. After locking my keys in my running car, I called numerous "800" numbers listed online who claimed to be a 24 hour service. However, I couldn't get anyone to help me out. I called Murphy's Lock & Key and figured that since he was a local locksmith, he probably wouldn't be open til 8am but he answered the phone at 5:30 am and he was at my house within a 1/2 hr.
