What a great place ! I've been looking for dwarf rudbeckia and boy did they come through for me! I bought 20 of them ( I have a large area to cover ) . I also have 30 dwarf hostas on order . Everyone I dealt with was friendly, knowledgeable and so helpful that I couldn't ask for more. The variety of plants were what the average hometown planter is looking for and at a great price. If there is something you're looking for and can't find elsewhere, I suggest you check this place out. read more

We have used their services for maybe 7 years or so. Every year, I was consistently disappointed by them. One year, we tried to do something fancy and put an "island" of plants and a little tree in our front years. They completely ruined it, did not follow our instructions, it looked ridiculous and they made a giant MESS of our yard. We ended up having to take the entire thing out and it took MONTHS for our grass to grow back in. They threw down grass seed that the deer ate up immediately. WE ended up having to do it ourselves, because we couldn't get them back. Every year, it's a giant fight to get them here to do our front. Then, when they do it, it's a chop job. They do a super quick trim, throw down mulch and leave with a hefty price tag. We picked out bushes and went with some of their recommendations, it still looks terrible. The bushes they chose all are unevenly spaced, with all the big bushes together; and small, ugly ones that almost never make it through the winter are left. These are supposed to last, but never do. Last year, we had a burst sewer pipe that went from the house to the street and needed the giant strip of dirt graded and wanted sod. They wanted to throw down fertilizer & grass seed, but we've already been down that road. They did everything to discourage us from sod, and when we refused, they dropped us as customers saying that they already had too many customers and can no longer provide services. We may "sound" like trouble and difficult clients, but after that "island" fiasco about 7 years or more ago, we never complained. Even with the shoddy work on our front. Even when it never looked as good as every other neighbor on the street, we just kept paying them their very high prices. Maybe it was laziness on our part to just stick with the same company, despite their terrible service and terrible work. But, now they've dropped us for no reason. I can't believe it's because we wanted sod, which they said is more expensive! Well, they're gone, and actually it's like being fired from a bad job that you hate. They've actually done us a favor and forced our hand to get someone better. Good riddance. They have a beautiful nursery, and it looks great, which is why we kept them. We kept hoping it was "just this year". But, the ending was very consistent with the entire business. I do NOT recommend getting involved with them. Unless you enjoy throwing away money for below average service. read more

A total rip off. These people performed unauthorized work and charged me $1200 more on the seasonal bill. They just took it upon themselves to decide I needed a couple of new plants and without even picking up the phone to ask if I wanted them, stuck them in there and sent the bill at the end of the year. Forget about trying to get a hold of them in the off season. The worst kind of business. read more

Murray Bros Nurseries & Garden Centre has great quality annuals, perennials, and vegetables. In the late spring, I purchased a few pepper plants and they have produced a good amount of vegetables which I am very happy about. My favorite thing about Murray Bros is that they have quality rocks (of all shapes and sizes for a very reasonable price). If you ever need decorative rocks or rocks to line a garden bed, this is definitely the place to go. They also have the Hosta Farm down the road which has hundred of different varieties with such great prices! The employees are knowledgeable and can help you picking the perfect Hosta for your garden. I definitely recommend checking the nursery out. read more

We used to buy all of our plants, mulch, and hardscaping materials from Murray Brothers, spending thousands over the years. We were always happy with their selection, customer service, and free delivery for large orders. However, things have gone downhill. We requested a landscaping estimate very early in the season, were told we'd hear back in about a week...months later, nothing, even after calling to check up. We were prepared to spend several thousand dollars on the materials and labor to have them install it, but apparently they didn't want the business from longtime repeat customers. Still giving them a chance, we went there to order our usual mulch and some stones. We were disappointed to learn there is now a delivery charge, even for large orders, even within a certain distance from the nursery. We shopped around and found that the prices were significantly less for the same goods at another nursery. read more

Instead of finishing up my landscaping today as promised, the two young men took off after only 4 hours. When I called Nate Murray, he said he didn't like the rocks they had all over my lawn and that they had gone back to get different ones. Why then are the original rocks still in place on my lawn? I am NOT happy with their lack of punctuality and blase' attitude. When I asked why they hadn't returned with the new rocks, I was told they had to be at football coaching at 5. Their football coaching seems to be much more important to them and their business than fulfilling their professional obligations. I would NOT recommend this business. read more

Murrays used to offer attentive service and quality inventory. After 2 recent visits for mulch and shrubbery I was aghast at the customer service counter . The 2 women in charge at the register didn't greet or thank a customer! I was sent out to the yard to search and fend for myself as a worker out back told me, "I don't know, I don't usually work back here." Check your zones Murrays. read more

Met with Jeff, had a great meeting regarding our clean up and landscaping needs. That was the only thing that was great. Work was late being done. Poured mulch over weeds so now I am weeding myself.....although I payed a pretty penny for them to not do it. Lots of promises not kept. Great garden shop but cannot warn you enough about letting them do any major work for you unless you can be home every minute telling them what to do and supervising the work they do. Nice people, poor workmanship. read more

I would never purchase anything in this nursery again. If I could give zero stars, I would. Customer service is terrible. They do not stand behind their product. I purchased three shrubs for my front yard. At the same time I purchased three shrubs of the same variety from Northridge Nursery. I Purchased them in two different places because they were the same shrub but two different colors and I wanted to alternate the colors. This spring the shrubs from Northridge were blooming beautifully, but the three from Murray Brothers were totally dead. When I called the store, the person who answered the phone told me their guarantee would be 100% credit if their landscaper planted them, but only 50% because they were planted by my landscaper, and that I had to dig them out and bring them to the store. I took them to the store with the receipt with the intention of purchasing new shrubs using the 50% credit. I was told by the clerk at the desk that was not the case and it was not covered because their landscaper did not plant them. She suggested I speak with the manager, Beck, who told me there was nothing they could do about it, even though I explained that they were planted at the same time in the same place by the same landscaper, and that the other ones that I purchased from Northridge were fine. Then she told me that she wasn't actually the manager, and that was Kim, who I would have to call because she was not there. Next a man appeared who she identified as the owner. I was trying to explain the problem to him and he wouldn't even listen to the explanation and very rudely interrupted me and said he wouldn't do anything about it because I didn't use their landscapers and, "that's our policy", and then he just walked away. He was not apologetic or anything. I would think any business with any kind of consideration for their customers could have at least tried to make some kind of effort of at least perhaps offering even a small discount to purchase new plants. I would not recommend this business to anyone and definitely would never go there again. read more

Bought quite a few plants a couple weeks ago. All did very well, except 1 fairly expensive plant that never thrived after transplant. After 2 days it was clear it would not survive. Took it back a couple days later, expecting a replacement. Nope - they will give you a credit for half the value. They will only guarantee purchases that you pay them to plant.
