The water is not accessible from the sites...we were told it is a 60' cliff into the water but we didn't venture close enough to the edge to confirm that. Site 4 felt safer (since we had kids in our group) as it didn't back up to the edge. All of our sites had a little deck near the camper pad but our deck was in a little disrepair (some rotten boards). The sites had electric and water and all had fire rings, too. On the way to the sites (once we were inside the park) the road seemed overgrown and I was wondering if we were heading to the right place. It's definitely tucked away but was a peaceful, mostly empty (maybe because of the raininess of the weekend), campsite. The bathhouse was nice. The showers were a little small but the water was nice and HOT! There was a bit of cobwebs but overall, they really weren't too bad! There is a an area outside each shower with a bench and hooks for towels and clothes. The playground had tape around it (maybe from Covid?) so we didn't use that. There was a dumpster near the bathrooms. Our kids went on some trails, but we didn't go with them, so I can't comment on the trails. On the way out of town, we went to the beach. There's so much potential there but I wasn't impressed at all. It was disappointing. The sand turns into somewhat stinky mud by the time you get to the water line and overall the place looked unkept - some broken picnic tables, overgrown grass, weeds popping all over the nice concrete padded area by the bathrooms. I thought there would be showers, but there is just one outdoor shower good enough for a quick rinse. The bathrooms/shower house at the beach smelled clean (someone even came to clean them while we were there) but overall it was just not nice. The beach just seemed like a place that, in its heyday, would have been so great. Since this review is more about the campsites than the beach, I am not taking the beach into too much consideration. The couple that stays at the site are very nice. They came and introduced themselves to us and gave us a map of the trails and the park. On our way out they have us a hearty wave and asked us to come back soon. The campground was a nice place to camp. We had a great weekend!

Also the only soap they have is in soap dispensers they don't even fill with the same type of soap, and have probably never cleaned because there's hair on the bottom of it too. There's picture frames on the wall, without any pictures. Not sure where the art in the supposed gallery is. I've put a chair in front of my door because I can't say I feel safe here as a solo female traveler. Tempted to move the dresser too, it isn't busy though and I haven't seen sus people. You can hear the cars going by though and even the person snoring next door. Rooms were freezing when we got inside so I quickly turned the heat up. It would be good if you're just looking for a cheap place to stay for one night, and aren't alone. But I wouldn't say it's family friendly by any means.

He made our stay here very special. One of the owners Kate was so concerned she would text me not to worry if we needed to stay longer. Very special people here. The marina is gorgeous..the boat we rented was fantastic. The 2 bedroom condo was gorgeous, clean and plenty big for the six of us. They even made arrangements for our two dogs. You will go out into the woods in the wild. This is not some little ride in a field you up and down those rolling hills. The horses were beautiful and friendly. Our guide , Whitney was gorgeous and a wonderful guide. If you're a yankee like me you'll love the southern charm down here. It is cash only which is fine but I was unaware the guides work for tips and I gave the last of my cash to my relatives who were unprepared for cash sales. So bring some extra cash for the tip.

They offer two different rides, a 45 minute and a 90 minute ride. We did the 45 minute ride and that was just about right for us. We called an made reservations which is recommended. When we arrived at our time, they were all ready for us. We signed in and then they loaded us up for our ride. They have a platform to you can use to get up on the horse which was nice for my kids and my mom who was with us. It was a hot day and the ride for the most part was through the woods so it was pretty comfortable. The horses were great, and they pretty much know where they are going so for a inexperienced rider it was really nice. The guides were good and helpful and overall, it was fun time. Next time I might give the 90 minute ride a try but will make sure to do it when its a bit cooler. Great time and the people that work the stables were great to deal with.
