Looked good and allegedly supports veterans and emergency personnel so we decided to give it a shot. For the record I am a Veteran. Upon arrival I realized that things were not as advertised as the campground had two Huge For Sale signs on the property. I pulled to the end and a nice lady told me they were expecting me and showed me a back in site. I was expecting a pull though but backing is not an issue. Instead of the nice sites we saw on the website it was a very tight back in spot but did have full hook ups so I went against my gut feeling and backed in. Our spot worked out ok but the other spot which we were told was under construction was just a load of gravel knocked down and not packed. The power plug was on a building about 40' behind the spot and the water had to come from the camper spot next door and used a splitter so they shared the hydrant. Their trailer sunk about two blocks deep just backing in. The website shows $35 per night so we expected $150 at most for both spots plus any Veterans discount. The owner appears to be down on his luck so we stayed. Shouldn't have. He charged us $300 and had the audacity to say it was a holiday and/or special event price. He stated there was a fishing tournament in town. It is Paris Landing area so my guess there is alway a tournament going on. If we were made aware of this before hand we would have stayed elsewhere. I gave him a chance to make things right but to this point Big Jim seems to not be a very straight shooter. Look at his pix posted and then review my Google earth pix below. There are now more sheds on this small piece of property. Apparently they are not plumbed as the tenants were making runs for the bathroom shed. The bathroom shed (literally) is where they wash their dishes and themselves. Don't be deceived by the website or Big Jim's smooth talking. Do Not Make the Same Mistake We Did as Big Jim will get to you. It's a shame as after we find a place we like and that takes care of us there is a huge group that camps together so could have been much more lucrative for Big Jim had he not messed us over. Truth matters and Honesty wins in the end.

The chicken tenders were perfectly cooked, from end to end. They didnt have those rock hard ends you sometimes get when they sit too long. They had several non alcoholic slushies for our younger daughter, which helped keep the heat at bay. Burgers were simple, but good. Fries and onion rings were good but the fried green beans were my personal favorite. If you are in Land Between the Lakes, you shoukd definitely stop by!

Upon arrival we found a issue with our camper and the staff help us fix it . Bath houses were clean and convenient. There is River access, a dog park and pickle ball court. Our site was a concrete pad with plenty of room. We will definitely stay here again.

The Piney River is really cool and in one section has these really neat rocks and really blue water. They have a convenient store if you need anything and they also sell food like pizza which was good. They also have a pool and splash pad. There were farm animals next door that were fun to feed carrots. The staff was really friendly and escorted us to our tiny home when we checked in. They gave us a tour of the place and made sure all of our questions were answered.

The State park is well taken care of however the areas are all separated and must be driven…read morebetween. Lakefront camping spots have no electric or water access. Bath house near lakefront camping has bathrooms but no shower. The lake front camping spots are gravel and are going to be rough on your tarp/tent/airmattress/feet. Happy Hollow looks fantastic and I definitely would've loved to stay there. They have hook-ups, bathrooms, and showers. There is no longer a playground at happy hallow like it shows on the map and lists on the website. We went to Eva Beach recreation area and there is a playground there but it's about a 12 minute drive from the campgrounds. The recreation area had a sandy beach, but a foul smell and the water was very dirty. There are 2 large factories that make a humming noise that can be heard from the campgrounds and constantly seeing the large plumes of smoke from them on both sides of the lake ruins the nature side of things. The cabins were nice. Lakefront camping spots are not kid friendly - lake on one side and a road that people fly down on the other. I personally wouldn't recommend this park especially for families but if you have to stay here then stay at happy hollow.
