GREAT service! The guys showed up early and were extremely efficient with the work I had to have done on my car - intake air boot, power steering needed addressing and I needed my brakes done. The term trustworthy mechanic is usually considered an oxymoron. Not in this case! Jim is not only extremely knowledgeable but I was blown away by his integrity. My van was making a strange noise. I called Jim based on the positive online reviews I found and preferring a mechanic that could come to my house. Over the phone, he was able to quickly diagnose the issue as a bad oil filter and advised me on the type of filter to ask for when I take it back in to the place I recently had my oil changed. He could have easily come out to charge me for a diagnostic visit or an expensive repair and I wouldn't have known any better. I'm still in shock that such an honest mechanic exists! Jim Reed is an excellent, reliable, honest mechanic. I have had Jim out twice; he fixed my '96 Camry - diagnosed the problem expertly, got the part, came back and completed the repair (new distributor assembly) and the car works perfectly- engine timing is excellent. I also had him repair my 2011 Tundra; another technician told me i had a bad alternator; on my truck that's a $500 repair. Jim can ready to replace the alternator- but diagnosed the problem correctly- said - alternator's fine. It was a bad wire- that's all. The repair was $95. Jim is the first guy I've worked with for 'mobile service'- i had thought - 'they must do it better in an auto shop'. But i found he has everything needed on his truck and is able to operate with a lower overhead so his repair rates are lower. Each time he gave me the receipts for the parts - i could see exactly what the cost of the part was and the cost of labor. I also found it was SO convenient to have a guy come to the house so we didn't have to take two people's' time to go do a car drop off and pick up. Next time i have a car repair need I'm calling Jim. He's also a personable guy and easy to talk to. There's no 'intimidation factor' where the mechanic talks down to you so you feel dumb. Definitely my new GoTo. He arrived to our apt in less than 10 minutes. Jim was beyond helpful, he didn't just pull out his computer, charged me and left. NO, he went above and beyond. He lifted my car, checked all the wheels, the breaks, when he was unsure of something he re-lifted the car to ensure the wheels were moving and not locked. He checked the transmission oil, he advised me it needed change, however not immediately, also advised me about my breaks, same answer. Unlike other who would most likely encourage you to change them on the spot, Jim said it still had some life left. He did lastly pulled out his computer in case it was electric since he was able to fix the issue, just to assure us if the computer could diagnose something else electrical. Indeed it read something about the master cylinder. Told us it could've just been a one time thing that he has seen before. Not saying he is not a good Mechanic but I will not know cause he failed to show up for an appointment? I guess business is good?

I had Jim come out to diagnosis my truck, he came out and recommended I have the battery changed and until then he can't check the code. I had to change the battery myself and when I called back he told me to run the car until the engine light came back on (the car would not stay running which was the problem). From my understanding when you call and auto repair place is because you need a professional to handle the repair not be told to do the job yourself so he can do his job. After I did all this he kept pushing off coming back to fully diagnosis and actually repair the issue instead kept brushing me off and then asking me to meet him somewhere when the car doesn't run more than a few seconds. I can't say enough great things about Jim. I called him in the morning needing my bearings changed and it was my only day off and needed it done ASAP. He immediately met up with me without hesitation (which I'm sure he had to change his schedule around just to accommodate me) and diagnosed my car. Got a ballpark estimate from Jim over the phone, so I had him come out. He was on time and very professional. He got the job done-new fuel pump-for even a little less than the estimate because one of the parts he might have needed to replace was still working fine he said. I hate the auto repair industry! Oh, the stories that I could tell. However, Jim Reed is a very bright spot in an industry that has a bad reputation. He immediately came over, did all sorts of test, and straightway found the problem - the engine starter. He immediately got the part and installed it within a very short time. He also checked all the fluids and inspected the car. What was amazing to me was that I suggested some other repairs to my car. HE INDICATED THAT THOSE REPAIRS WERE NOT NEEDED! The dealership wanted $200 for the bulb which cost me $99 at Kragen auto parts, and another $200 for a certified Prius technician to do the work. I want to give this review on Jim who my husband and I both agree is truly wonderful. I received a quote from Jim on my 1999 Chrysler Sebring. After what I thought was a broken alternator, Jim evaluated the vehicle to find that my alternator and battery were fine and that it was a belt that rotTed around the compressor and alternator that needed to be replaced, which at the time he didn't have. Jim worked feverishly to get exactly what he needed to fix my car. Now what I haven't told you is that my son was waiting on the car to be repaired so he could ship it back to the Mid-West. As a matter of fact he had scheduled to have it shipped that very day that Jim was scheduled to repair it. Jim went above and beyond to get the work done in a timely manner. I am happy to say, the car got out on time and having spoken to my son just today, I'm told the car runs like its brand new. According to him you can't even hear it running. If anyone has any question about Jim Reed, he's your guy. He's very honest, as well as reasonably priced. His quote to me was $300 less than two previous quotes from other mechanics. Plus no hassle with towing because he comes to you. I'm totally happy and will always call on Jim for any kind of mechanical repairs. Jim is the man. He has been fixing our cars since 2003, and has always made sure it was done right. Very honest person, and a cool guy to be around. He tells you what he thinks on a job, and tries to keep you informed about what is going on. Very knowledgeable, and has tons of experience. If he doesn't call you back immediately, don't worry about it! He is a very busy guy for a reason, and is probably underneath another car working!! Also, If a job is outside of his expertise (like my highly modded 2007 BMW 335i electrical issues were) he will tell you, and refer you to somebody else who knows better. Other shops will take your money, not fix it, then blame you! Sadly happened to me several times with my BMW. He has successfully fixed our 1990 Toyota pickup (once he even drove up to Irvine to help me when I was stranded), our 2003 Honda Accord, our 2004 Honda Element (including valve job), our 2003 Tacoma, my 2000 Nissan Xterra (multiple times), and has always worked with us to get the job right. If Jim is doing a job, you can be well assured that he is doing all he can to make sure it's done right....
