Cal Oaks checked the AC on my vehicle and they replaced the condenser. I had cold air on the way home, but the following day the AC was blowing hot air. I brought it back to Cal Oaks and they fixed the problem, but I had to take an Uber home. I've waited 2 months to write this review. I was sold a car with warped rotors and aftermarket brake pads...of course the repair job was pricey but they explained my options and walked through the costs of each part and gave me detailed pros and cons of different approaches I could take. They ended up replacing all 4 rotors + my brake pads and completed the replacements very quickly. The bill hurt, but their empathy toward the situation and clear communication was very appreciated. I reached out to make an appointment and they were able to accommodate me first thing. They were friendly, communicative, and responsive. Very expensive. I had a battery replaced and an oxygen sensor.. apparently that's why my engine light was on. Paid over $600 for those two things. The next day my engine light came back on. So not sure if that was even the problem. I don't think I want to get ripped again, won't be a returning customer. Sorry. read more

If you are reading this review, it's probably because you are searching for a friendly, reliable and affordable auto mechanic. I wanted to share my own personal experience with Cal Oaks Auto Repair. A couple days ago, I was in a pinch. My wife's van needed work and I needed to find a good mechanic. Our kids are in school and sports, so as you can imagine, we needed the car done quickly and affordably. Through a good friend, we were referred to Cal Oaks Auto Repair. We were so happy we found this shop!! Here are some of the reasons that they deserve the 5 stars: Customer Service: Everyone who I dealt with, from the Administrative assistant to the technician working on my car, was extremely courteous, helpful and responsive. But what I found super interesting was how they used technology and text messages to effectively communicate with me throughout the process. They had a really cool system for using text messages to provide estimates of work, give updates, and performing transactions with us. Super easy. Quality Assurance: Throughout the entire process, the shop made me feel comfortable about the work being done on my car. They provided great documentation to show why they were making certain recommendations in their estimate of work. Even as a non-mechanic, the written explanations they provided were detailed, but made sense to me. In addition, prior to having the work done, the owner personally performed all the diagnostics and tests to confirm the work they were recommending was accurate and necessary. Value: Now just like everyone on yelp, I was looking for a great value for my money. Using the estimate they provided, I did a little research to see how much the same work would cost at other places. I had found the prices to be very fair, if not on the lower end of my estimated price ranges. In summary, It was refreshing to find a friendly, reliable and affordable mechanic. I strongly recommend this shop and my sincere hope is that your experience is as good as mine was. read more

After reading all the great reviews on this place from my fellow yelpers, I wanted this place to work, but for me, it did not. I made my appointment six weeks in advance, and the day I showed up to get my car serviced. the parts were not there. I showed up at 7:45 in the morning. I checked on the car about 1:30 in the afternoon and they said they were still waiting on the parts. At 3:30 in the afternoon I was told the parts finally made it, but there was no longer time in the day to do the actual work. So I wasted an entire day doing a bunch of nothing and nothing got done. The late delivery is not Cal Oaks fault. It's just the way things happened. So they told me I could leave the car there overnight or come pick it up and bring it back the next morning at 8 AM. I chose to bring it back the next day and again showed up at 7:45. Thinking that they would want to make this right, I was hoping that the person would already be there but he was 20 minutes late. He actually just pulled up when I was about to pull off and never come back again. I had to kill another three hours before I could finally leave. I was hoping they would want to make this right by maybe shaving off some of the labor cost but they charged me the full amount. I know you don't want to pay for parts upfront and be on the hook in case a customer flakes, but in the future, I suggest you call your customer and give them the option to pay for the parts upfront so they are waiting when they drop the car off. I would've been more than happy to pay for the parts so they were there at eight in the morning when I showed up. That removes the risk from you and also removes the risk from the customer because obviously they are going to now show up since they paid for the parts and everything will get done on time I think it was unprofessional to not only waste an entire day, but then to come back, be late to the second appointment, and did not even offer to make it right on the price at the end of everything. To me that sent a signal that my business did not seem to matter much and that message was received loud and clear. I will definitely not be back. I am not saying to stay away from this place. I am just saying it did not work out for me. Hopefully the rest of you have a better experience. The only bright spot was Kortney. She was very pleasant, nice, and very communicative, which I appreciate. read more

He is a good honest and fair owner and mechanic and while he has gotten much busier over the years( as I would expect an honest and caring mechanic to do) he still finds time to fix my current batch of vehicles. Kourtney (with a K) is the office manager and the person you will talk with regarding your car and appointment. Been calling around for the last couple days because we have a nail in our tire and apparently we have a "special" size that no one carries in stock. The person that answered was really nice and helpful (wish I got his name, I think it was Jake?) and I appreciated that he told me right off that bat that they wouldn't be able to help us in this emergency situation. He did offer another referral to a tire store nearby (who also doesn't have it in stock) but, it was really kind of him to have done so.
