Recent sinus surgery at MUSC Main Hospital. Doctors, nurses and all staff were excellent. I highly recommend MUSC ENT. I've had three surgeries at MUSC and have been impressed with quality of care. The only negative is lack of parking and no valet service, especially for elderly and handicapped. read more

Wow, what a wonderful experience at the MUSC President Street parking garage today. I asked the young lady working how much it cost to park -- silly me, thinking that was a normal question. Instead of, you know, posting a sign or answering politely, she snapped back with "three dollars, you should already know that." Clearly, I must be psychic and should have just guessed. My mistake for assuming customer service meant actual service. To make things even better, I called later to speak with a supervisor. Instead, I got JC, who promised me his boss would call me back. Guess what? Still waiting. Maybe the phone lines are powered by hopes and dreams over there. And I guess this is just how people from outside Charleston get treated -- with rudeness, broken promises, and no accountability. Bravo! read more

It was the worst er visit!! I was there for 3 hours. I took off my oxygen monitor as well as my blood pressure cuff. No one came. I went to the bathroom pulled the cord no one came. The wonderful custodian helped me. All of the nurses were in a room shooting the shit. Go to a different hospital if you need care!!! Absolutely horrible!!! read more

I had the most outrageous experience with the endoscopy department. I have an active port for infusion. I asked them to use the port,no. Three nurses were at my bedside hounding me. "OH please let me look. I was under attack. I felt like roadkill and they were vultures. A crowd was formed of hospital staff. I had to relentlessly to get out. I will never be back. Last night I went to the emergency room at MUSC and I had a great Experience all of hospitals Have a long wait but MUSC I believe is the fastest emergency room you can visit also I had a nurse, Samantha and Doctor feel a bit and she was understanding concerning. They were really there for so I've been going through a life since August of last year and when I say Dr. even though she probably couldn't help me with certain things that I said she still was there give me a listening ear or maybe try to help me guide I need to go. Went there in the morning because I had 3 aneurysms after a ct scan. They don't tell you anything for hours. I was left in the room for 12 hours without any nurse checking on me. I was hungry and thirsty got a stale pack of 2 crackers and drank from the sink. They don't communicate with you until you tell them I'm done and I'm leaving. Then they want to do a mri on me and don't tell me until I'm ready to leave but says it will be hours. Them young Employees need to get it together. I watched 4 just screw around in front of me. I finally called my family to come and get me because I can't drive at night. Kept telling them this but they don't care. I called my Regular Doctor that is Wonderful to me and got me a Neurosurgeon on a Video Call the next day and said you didn't need a MRI , I got you set up for an Angiogram. They acted like I was going to die when I told them I was leaving. I said God will take care of me. Never concerned while I was in their care. After they pulled the needle from my arm going out, blood was dripping all over the place because I'm a big clotting Patient with Cancer. They don't know what they did doing. The only one that had any common sense and helped me was the employee that really wasn't a medical person just cleaned up the rooms and distributed blankets. I think he was being used by all the lazy nurses and staff. I will never go back there in the emergency room again. After 14 hours just for a Ct scan was ridiculous. read more

I use to work at MUSC, what a life changing opportunity! Yes it is huge, and at times a challenge to maneuver I have gotten lost and had to call someone to get me, haha! But what a outstanding place to learn and hone ones skills. Have not worked in such a caring rewarding, organized giant of a place since.It is a gem. I love working here as a research coordinator, despite the complaints I have. For example....They don't pay very competitively, and it's more of a "just put your time in" than "work hard and excel" kind of a place, which is disappointing. But I love love love getting to work in the Department of Psychiatry. And my research feels meaningful and exciting. I have received excellent training and feel that I am being developed and challenged in ways that benefit me greatly. I have been a patient at MUSC as well, and have hit or miss experiences seeing residents. Some where great, some helped me decide to leave the MUSC system for medical care read more

No need to go to them unless you have plenty of time to wait. You have to see a specialist for each individual body part. The waiting time is just unbelievably long. What a bunch of thieves; they keep adjusting prices after treatment and payments; this is the third time the hospital has inflated their prices; they advertise a specific price for a mammogram and then inflate the prices after the bills have been paid; it is absolutely insane that they allowed to operate this way. read more

I wish I jumped out the ambulance and died before reaching this place. This is the worst experience of my entire life. I went for a mental health crisis and this abysmal excuse for a "hospital" made me wish I never went and just dealt with whatever might have happened to me. The billing team might as well be all computers because they do not care. They only care if they get your money and that's it. I have had zero help. My name was misspelled despite me asking 10+ times to change it, causing my bill to go into collection because it literally was not my name. I set up a payment plan and was charged twice what we agreed on, the billing team puts me on hold for an hour than hangs up. I got an over draft fee from this robbery, gonna have to cancel my card just to get them to stop stealing from me. Literally, whatever you're suffering from, going here will never be worth it. read more

My grandmother had a stroke. She was brought to MUSC by ambulance. The ER doctors were great! Dr. Walker, an intern, was so caring and attentive. Dr Hall(?) the ER chief was fantastic! Dr Le Lui was rough and not helpful. He dismissed all of my concerns and grabbed my grandmother's arm where her IV was. She yelped. He said " it is only a catheter.". Kevin, or Keith, the medical assistant was wonderf!! Forgive me for not remembering your name! She was admitted to the hospital. Then it all went south. The neurologist and the attending Dr. ( Dr. banerjee) were less than concerned. They were dismisive and rude to me and my mother when we were asking for the best way to treat my grandmother. So disappointed! We never saw them again for the entire 4 days she was in the hospital. I was shocked!! The nurses were kind and nice. No one got her out of bed to shower her except us. I was under the impression that as soon as you see signs of a stroke, get to the hospital. They will do active therapies to decrease the damage. Unfortunately, not our experience. read more

Can I say that I have always disliked MUSC because the building is the biggest maze in Charleston, elevators that go to some places but not where you want to go, hallways that are confusing, parking that is not convenient, and you just don't actually know where the heck you are because signage stinks. I know that is all negative and deservedly so for the old building but this new building is awesome. I have been twice now for two different things. First was for a patient in ICU and then for a Blood Drive. And both times it was such a nice experience. Parking lot for the building was great with a convenient tunnel over to the building and the building is very well laid out. The customer service stand was very good at directing me to where I wanted to go. What a huge change. I mean "HUGE". Really like the building. read more

what a cluster. First- they are doing construction, so you have to go to the parking garage a different way, through the construction. It is quite confusing. Once you leave the parking garage to walk back to the building, you get lost because there are signs pointing pedestrians one way but then it is all blocked off. I ended up having to walk two blocks down and then two blocks back up to the building. The walking doesn't bother me, but the getting there right at my appointment time bothered me. I did not expect adding an extra ten minutes onto my walking time. Second- once you get in, you have no idea where to go! There are signs pointing you to different facilities, but you can't actually go to any of them without checking in first downstairs (which I did not know). I had to wait, along with other people, to be signed in. It took five minutes to wait and then ten minutes to go through all the information I had already clarified on the phone. Third- the elevators are not connected to all the floors. One set of elevators only go to specific floors and the other elevator set goes to the other floors. Again, had no idea so I got lost in the building. Fourth- Once you finally make it to your appropriate floor, you have to re-sign in and then wait. There are people at the counter, but they were not very helpful and seemed as though I was bothering them when I asked if I was in the appropriate location. I really like MUSC and have not had an issue in the past with any locations, but man. The MUSC ART is not the place to go if you need something done. I'd choose one of their other locations if available for tests needing to be done. read more

I went to MUSC from Lexington SC for GIST Cancer. It's a rare cancer to form where mine did. My Oncologist suggested I go there and boy am I glad I did Dr. George there was very knowledgeable about my particular tumor and where it was (something that none of our local hospitals were familiar with) and Dr. George had actually performed this removal surgery before and he gave me hope to live a normal life after surgery. The staff and nurses at MUSC are truly angels and go above and beyond to make your stay there very comfortably. I truly believe had I not gone there and we t local I wouldn't be here to write any reviews. My hat is off to MUSC read more

I was here for a work event, so I can't really comment on the services of the building, but I will say that on a cold February day, I truly appreciated the valet service at the front door ($5 - cash only). While I was there, the staff was friendly, conversational, and very helpful when assistance was needed. The facility was clean and welcoming, and a Starbucks is available on-site for those who like that sort of thing. A cafeteria and gift shop on the ground floor make it easy to nourish both physically and emotionally those that are visiting MUSC. read more

It's hard to say I'm a fan of a hospital. After all, there is never a very good reason for being there. That said, I appreciate the way I am treated each time I do have to visit, and I appreciate the quality care I receive from MUSC. Like any hospital, sometimes it feels like it take forever to get answers and/or to be released; however, I'm sure a lot of that has to do with my own stress levels when I'm here. I can't say enough about the quality of care we receive from MUSC, and that is what makes all the difference. read more

Great facility! Everyone is very professional and they all go above and beyond. The pre-op procedures used are some I have not experienced elsewhere and very well thought through. It's a teaching hospital, but I was told I could always request to see the doctor/surgeon at any time which I did. My time in the OR was twice as long as originally thought, so I'm so glad I chose this facility since the staff has more experience with the type of surgery I had. First time here. Needed to have an evaluation for heart surgery to fix this afib I have. Valet parking for only $5! That works for me. Directions from the very friendly front desk were spot on. The cardiology waiting room was beautiful and large. Very clean. They got me in right away and everyone was so friendly.
